Beauty Confessions: What’s the Most Embarressing Product Lurking in your Bathroom Cabinet?

I think I’m a hoarder. This morning I opened my bathroom closet and realized I simply have too much stuff. But guess what? I so don’t feel guilty about my awesome hoarding habits!

Bring it baby!

But I will admit I do have some shame in my game particularly two products that I use a fair bit and will SHOCK you when you hear what they are.

So confess, what’s the most embarrassing product lurking in your bathroom cabinet? on your vanity? or under your sink? You have to have at least one that you don’t wanna fess up to using.

Mine are…

I can’t believe I’m admitting this to you but I have a stash of Mary Kate and Ashley Detangler in my cabinet. To add insult to injury I also have a mighty stash of Jessica Simpson Dessert Hair Mist in Juicy.

I know, I know, get it all out, laugh it up. Ok, finished?

I really dig the scent of the Mary Kate and Ashley stuff, damn those evil Olsen twins, damn them to hell! Weird story but I was introduced to this by my 10 year old cousin a few years ago when the evil empire carried an entire line of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen cosmetics, accessories, and clothes. Yes, the dark empire ruled supreme back than.

I nicked a bottle from her after she conned me into braiding her hair and ever after I’ve been a fan girl. Why? Because it smells like a tropical island! It’s a creamy coconut scent plus it makes my hair soft! Loves! I purchased a few bottles off of Evil-bay for chump change but haven’t seen it around ever after so now I hoard a few bottles in my cabinet.

Yes, scandalous aren’t I?

Now I gotta admit the Juicy fragrance from Jessica Simpson’s Dessert products was oh so me. I actually kinda dug the line even though much of it was rubbish. But when it hit the clearance bin at Sephora a few years ago I hoarded like no tomorrow and to this day I still have a bottle or two of the Juicy Hair Mist. This stuff is oh so golden to me.

Ok, now that I’ve embarrassed myself feel free to join in and tell me the most embarrassing product you have lurking in your bathroom cabinets, closets, etc….

I can’t wait to hear ’em!

I’m positive they can’t beat my confession of Mary Kate and Ashley hair products.

Seriously.

I’ve had other embarrassing moments with the Olsen Sisters, check it out.

I have two fragrances of the dessert beauty line by Jessica Simpson!! They smell yummy and taste yummy but you get all sticky and smelly after a while.. needless to say I only used it once and they are sit there still… I bought mine because I’m a hard core Jess fan so I have an excuse 😛 Even though the products are rubbish it still looks good on my vanity ehehe
But you’re right, anything can be the Olsen twins stuff xD

    • the Muse

OMG same problem marisa. The line was so cool but they are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sticky. It’s gross. I absolutely loved the line but the stickiness really threw me. I have a few of the perfumes but I can’t use them for this reason ;-D

Ha I know, my loser ways are hard to beat lol!

  • Courtney

The Mary Kate and Ashley stuff cracked me up! I don’t really have any embarassing beauty products, unless you count the $1 bottles of neon colored glitter nail polish I seem to accumulate (for some reason I always think I’ll wear them then I get home and come to my senses). However, if we’re opening this up to anything in our bathroom, god knows I have a slew of embarassing products in my medicine cabinet.

    • the Muse

*hangs head* I’m so embarrassed Courtney LOL! go right ahead tell us all about those lol!

  • jamie

does boob lotion count? haha i try to hide it in drawers just in case i have people around… but it makes me forget to use it all the time haha

  • Jennifer

I have one of those cheap hello kitty lipglosses they sell at target that are meant for kids…it smells really good like berries and it is a pretty pink color 😛

  • jenna

this embarrassing item has a home on a ledge in my shower/bathtub… a giant bottle of disney (Tinkerbell) bubble bath that is scented like grapes. i totally use it frequently and my bf cracks up every time he hears the bath run and the grape smell creeps throughout our apartment. god i love grape smell though and tink is adorable right?! ok one more thing, the same tub shelf is home to my rubber ducky that is dressed in a cheerleader outfit.

i totally keep my bathroom curtain closed at all times!!

    • the Muse

LOL Jenna!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I keep mr bubble under my bathroom sink, I’m kinda addicted to his scent. SHHHH!

  • kenzie.

Oh gosh….I have Suave Kids Detangler. It smells like apples!! And the guy I like loves the smell!! That’s totally my excuse….

And I have Suave Kids 2-in-1 shampoo. It smells like Monster Energy Drinks….nomnomnom.

I also have Hello Kitty lipgloss rings (hey, they’re cute!!), a Hello Kitty eyelash curler, Paul Frank lip balms, and an Alice in Wonderland eye palette and lipstick.

Add that to my collection of superhero and gamer clothing and I’m just a giant freaking nerd, aren’t I?

    • the Muse

HA totally have a ton of kids shampoo in my stash kenzie ;-D great for clarifying imho lol! and of course paul frank lip balms as well as HK, I’m such a kid ;-D ha not at all!!!!!! half my weekend wardrobe consists of bad tshirts purchased at j!nx ;-D

        • the Muse

LOL please don’t kenzie than you’ll be the little old lady with mary kate and ashley in her bathroom, don’t do it! ;-D

  • Marina

I can’t really think of anything embarrassing at the moment..but the funny thing is I’m watching Full House and of course, the Olsen twins are on 🙂

  • Lauren S.

I think the most embarrassing products for me are the really super old ones. I have bath and body works body sprays from when the store first opened (mid-90’s). Lord knows they don’t smell very good any more, but the retro packaging just brings me back. I also have the first packaging of Herbal Essences Shampoo and Conditioner…now that one really smells rank…but I don’t care – oh the memories of 90’s packaging!

  • jerseygrrrl78

One time when I was searching for a band-aid in an ex-boyfriend’s medicine cabinet I came across a jar of cellulite cream of all things. I never thought guys were that self-conscious but turns out he was pretty obsessed over a couple of random dimples he had on his butt, lol!

  • Melissa

Loves baby soft – it brings me happy memories of junior high. Mom used to buy it for me which is also a happy memory. I can’t say I wear it but I have the body spray, and every now then use it as a bathroom air freshner. Its like any happy childhood memory. I cant the same vibe from Big Red chewing gum. Anyways if someone saw it my Chanel No 5 image would be crushed LOL. I change fragrances a lot but my go to since I was 18 is good ole no.5 or Philosophy’s Amazing grace.. good thing my taste in fragrance developed after I was 12.

    • the Muse

LOL awesome Melissa ;-D god I remember Love….sweet, sweet memories ;D Hell I think I have some exclamation point hanging out somewhere, remember THAT?

  • Taryn

Dang, all of my embarrassing stuff is gone, but I used to have Darth Vader clear soap with a mini Darth inside. This was in the 90s, mind you, so I was way too old for this, but I remember digging and digging to get out the mini Darth.

I also had a bubble bath with his helmet as a cap.

As of now, I have some old Kissing Koolers chillin’ in my cabinet. (Get it – Kooler, chillin’??) Hyuk.

    • the Muse

LOL taryn I KNEW I could count on your for entertainment dude. lol! ;-D Are you kidding? I’m so JEALOUS you still have those damn kissing koolers. I SWEAR I want them! I’d steal them if I lived closer.

how about we catch up soon? ;-D are you free tonight?! ;D

  • resham

hehe…I have this Minoxidil 2% BOTTLES and Nivea Cellulite cream TUBES under my sink. I just feel embarassed if anyone sees them. But just because they are tucked ‘inside’ I totally forget to use them!!

I also have this over stock of Bath n Bodyworks products. Fragrances, Lotions, Creams etc…I just cannot pass a B&B store without purchasing anything. Its just an unhealthy addiction..
My excuse: Oh we shower and moisturize everyday!!!

    • the Muse

lol resham ;-D LOL my excuse is pretty much the same plus I always say oh look it’s buy three get 10 free, what a bargain lol! but seriously I need to STOP!

  • jonnie

I’m kinda embarrassed of my Clearasil Ultra pads… I feel like I’m far too old for that. But, I tend to get a bit overzealous squeezing blackheads and sometimes that results in a huge painful deep spot (pimple? Infection?) And those babies at least help calm them down (although they still hang around forever… I have two now that have been with me for six weeks. You’d thinnk i’d stop squeezing already. It’s like a compulsion).

    • the Muse

don’t be jonnie I have vanishing cream in my cabinet. sometimes ya need spot treatment ;-D DON’T SQUEEZE ;-D easier said than done!

  • jonnie

Yah, if I could stop myself from squeezing i’d just have a couple “monthly” blemishes, but noooo… 😛

    • the Muse

I’m one to talk. I pick, pop, and squeeze everything from zits to scratches and cuts ;D it’s too tempting NOT to

  • Corinne

I have a tinkerbell lipgloss that was sold at Bath and Body Works…bought mostly for the packaging of course.

  • Gia

I have some mary kate and ashley makeup too! No shame! They came out with some cute stuff! I have men’s razors and shaving cream! I swear the women’s shaving department is weak and expensive! I’m all for cute packaging but to pay more for something i throw away once a week. Men’s stuff is much better and cheaper!
The one thing people actually comment on are these plain chapsticks that I have designed with nail polish on many a boring nights. People always comment with the “wow you must be bored” and then I get the get a life look…. At least it looks cute!

    • the Muse

ha gia my sis has some too! and she’s older than me ;-D I have men’s razors too, guilty!!!!!!!! ;-D LOL do share more on the chapsticks got a pic?! 😀

  • Kiwikiwidragon

I would have to say the sheer about of the stuff I have! Body stuff and makeup is my biggest hang up. I can only use a few very select things on my face since my skin is so sensitive so I have very few facial skincare things.
I do have one of those Degree deodorant body sprays, what can I say, I liked the scent right!

  • tini

I collect hello kitty stuff so i have SOOO much cheesy hell kitty makeup. I remember having the clear soaps with cartoon toys in them too. I vividly remember being like six at getting a pack of disney character one at the disney store. Later that night, there’s me, naked in the tub clawing at soaps to get out the princesses.

oh! I have a bottle of avon’s sweet honesty perfume from when i was a youngin’ too. but not just any bottle, it’s an optical illusion limited edition bottle! it’s an upside down ice cream cone that is apparently very tricky to some people. I have every single scent my local dollar tree sells of some “healing water body mist” too. they smell like foods! onomnom!

  • Bonnie

Hmmm…for starters, a GIGANTIC industrial-size bottle of tea tree oil cleanser, which unfortunately was NOT the acne holy grail I wanted it to be! Due to living with BF now, I really had to do a major cleanup of my beauty/personal care stuff once we moved in, because of space issues. But that doesn’t mean my stuff still isn’t taking up more than half the closet! 🙂 I always have 8 tubes of Neosporin because I never can find it when I need it so I rush out and buy another one! And, in my old apartment, i had a hard time parting with prescriptions for acne that didn’t really work or i didn’t finish!

  • Trista

OMG I was dying at the BF having the cellulite cream…. so freaking funny! I have the NAIR “Shower Power” cream for removing hair in “sensitive places” hahhahah I totally hide it from my husband tho! I also have some cheap nailpolish clear coat my coworker gave me called “Rejuvacote” but the packaging is so ghetto and there is typos all over it. She said all the girls in Jersey used to use it (cause they get acrylics and wreak havok on their nails) to grow their nails healthy again. Also use the “No More Tears” detangling spray haha.

Oh and finally, my grandma always buys me cheap bodywash at the Walmart after christmas sale so I have lots of cheapo cosmetics/bodywash stored in a box I can’t throw away for some reason….

  • Sarah

Of course I just stumbled across this.

Most embarrassing thing I found in my clean out today? (Luckily I found this…sheesh was I in need of a clean out.) Barbie lip gloss. It tastes like…pink. If pink had a taste, this would be it.

  • Rebekah

Udderly Smooth Udder Cream! Haha!! My grandmother always had some by the sink to keep her hands moisturized! So cheap and is such a good lotion!

It comes in a tub that has cow spots all over it! Yep. Udder Cream. It was created for use on cow’s udders.

    Sexy, huh?

  • Lilly

I have a big bottle of hello kitty body wash, smells sooo good! And baby shampoo, it makes my hair so soft!

  • Anna-Marie Rytter

I used to have several Hannah Montana lip-glosses that I bought at Club Libby Lu in 2008 (I think this was when my family went to Disneyland right before my 9th birthday)… I think I just threw them out a few months ago before I moved 🙂 They were super sparkly (I’m pretty sure it was like applying glitter glue to my lips whenever I wore them), and smelled like strawberry and vanilla. Come to think of it I probably wouldn’t wear them now… but I was 8 at the time and I LOVED Hannah Montana!

      • Anna-Marie Rytter

LOL thanks 🙂 I have lots more cute beauty-related stories… if you ever want me to share any of them on the blog (as a guest-post), let me know!
