Hard Candy Hide & Glow Cheek Duo Cheek Tint Hot Date Review, Swatches, Photos

I’m kicking myself today for not picking up ALL the shades of Hard Candy Hide & Glow Cheek. You see, I only make a pilgrimage to the evil empire (Walmart) a few times a year and in most cases its because 1. my sister drags me in (her being the Queen of old Wally World and all) or 2. I need to get my Hard Candy fix.

During my recent foray I ended up hauling one of the three shades of Hard Candy Hide & Glow because I was a little meh and worried it wouldn’t be so fabulous but now that I completely love it, I’m left to kick myself around because I really hate the idea of heading back to the evil empire to get the other two shades.

Sod’s law, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong in the case of great makeup.

Damnit.

Jump!

A dual end cheek tint.

Ok, let me just take my absolute frustration out on Hard Candy for a brief second. Why the hell is this called Hide & Glow!? At first I thought it meant that one end was a shimmering highlighter stick and the other a cheek tint but ummm hello WTH? Both ends are a cheek tint.

So, what the heck is the Hide for? What I miss?

I don’t get it.

Aside from that this stuff is ace my friends at this price.

I got the duo Hot Date which includes a hot pink and a plum. The hot pink shade gives my cheeks a Benefit Posietint kinda look and the plummy shade gives my face a flushed, just in from the cold look.

Best part?

These wear extra long! The stick is a harder, gel textured blush which has a hydrating, non oily finish and it wears extremely well throughout the day. Simply swipe on, blend out with finger tips, and you’re golden.

No nonsense makeup at its best and gives a fresh, natural, healthy glow to cheeks.

Bad? Nothing bad about this aside from the dense name that is.

  • Anyone who likes a fresh, natural look!
  • Anyone who doesn’t want a ton of makeup on to head to the supermarket or to run errands but who doesn’t want to go out completely makeup less (swipe and go, you’ll look gorgeous with a little blended on cheeks!)
  • Anyone who’s looking for a gel based cheek tint that won’t set them back $20 or more dollars!
  • Tarte Cheek Stain fans will adore this!

  • Anyone who likes powder blushes.

At this price (six bucks!) you can’t not get all the shades of this great little stick. Don’t be a fool like me, grab ’em all! This is perfect, no nonsense makeup at its best. There are days I’m simply not up for the entire makeup regime and this is fab pairs up with a little concealer to hide the icky dark circles. Fresh, flawless, and took me all of a minute to do my makeup.

Loves it.

Great quality at this price and ingenious, although the name is just strange in my humblest.

Muse Approved for purchase.

Available now at Walmart.

    Heya.

It’s supposed to be a spoof on “Hide and Go Seek.” Get it? Hide and Glow Cheek?

But yeah, super confusing and weird name, it took me forever to figure it out.

    • the Muse

wow dense moment now I got it Michaela but stupid none the less lol would be better with a concealer with that name!?

      • Michaela

I know! It should be a concealer and a cheek highlighter duo. That’s be AWESOME! Still, these look great despite the enigmatic name.

        Thanks for the review!

  • elizabeth

oh, I want! I”m a pretty firm walmart boycotter tho, the last time I went there was because my brother specifically asked for some compression shorts from there for xmas (and since he usually doesn’t give me any ideas, i decided to cave and get them.) Stupid hard candy, why are you doing this to me?

        • the Muse

lol ace I’m sorry. sometimes I’m doh with comments since I get so many and quickly forget what someone said ;p jeepers!

          apologies my dear girl!

I want!!! I went to Wal-mart last night and these weren’t there? Have they released them at Wal-mart, yet?

  • LorraineER

Nice! I’ve been considering getting something like this from Sephora but now I can save my $. Thank you!!!

    • the Muse

tell me about it mandy such a pain in the ass that none are in manhattan such a hassle when I’m downtown 😛

  • Kimberly

I just bought this baby last night & I’m loving it all the way. Did you see the Glow All The Way face & body illuminizer? I wound up picking up the pink one in Doll Face, & yep I love it too. Plus you get a huge tube of it too.

    • the Muse

hey kimberly didn’t get glow all the way figured I didn’t need to shimmer more lol! ;-D but damn nice size for the price!

  • Jessica

I too hate Walmart, and the first time I went there in ten years was to buy a bunch of Hard Candy.
I love this too, but hate the name. In fact, I hate a lot of the new names for their products. I wish they would’ve kept some of the old product names. I’m still comparing all my original stuff to the new stuff and keep getting surprised.

    • the Muse

jessica that names are silly I agree ;-D they lack originality in a major way 😛

      ha evil empire be damned!

  • Tohnia

I was at the Wal-Mart in my hometown this weekend and decided to check out if they had any Hard Candy. Everything that I wanted wasn’t there! : ( I’m hoping the Wal-Mart where I am now (St. Catharines) isn’t stripped bare. The prices are pretty high in CAD for Wal-Mart. The eye shadows alone are $10 each!

  • Cristi

    You know… I think I want these. I was just thinking about how I need a pocket cheek stain, but the itty bitty mini ones that Tarte has are $10. Ouch! Plus, they don’t have much of a selection of mini’s anymore. ; ;

The only thing is that I’d be missing out on the “natural” formulation (which isn’t all THAT natural, but still). Le sigh.

Hey, how big are these things anyway? In relation to a credit card or some other common object? XD

    • the Muse

mmm not sure of exact size cristi, I don’t have it with me at the moment. I’ll double check and get back with ya ;-D but in regards to an object, taller than a credit card by a little bit ;D

  • T

these look cool. what are the other shades available do you know? I’m liking the one you got. i wonder if it would work as a lip stain?

  • Hana

I got this same one last week! It’s awesome and I love the color, but it actually fades really quickly on me. Maybe I need to put more on next time and see if that helps?

I hope you got some of the other new products too! I just got this and that new Beetle nail polish, but I’m dying to go back for the new colors of lip gloss and pencil and I’m tempted by the concealer but want to read reviews first. Oh, and I think the other product that looked cool to me was called eye-def? It’s the cream shadow in the little test tube shaped things. The two greens looked super pretty!

    • the Muse

hi hana sorry to hear so far lasts about 5 hours on my face. I got the concealer as well as a plumping serum gloss ;-D

      • Hana

Oooh, can I be anticipating reviews? 😀
I got one of the plumping glosses before, and while I don’t find it to plump at all, it has a really nice tingly cool feeling on my lips. I’m hoping the newer ones are less sheer though.

        • the Muse

you can hana ;-D same here omg lol ;-D I just reviewed and said the same, kinda uneventful wasn’t it?!

  • Heather / Eyeconic

This looks awesome, I agree the name is really pointless though!

  • Suzanne

I bought 2 of them after reading your review and I really like them. 🙂 I’m wondering whether you like these more or the NYC Blushable Creme sticks? Contemplating on whether I should try those. THanks 🙂

  • ndoodles

Do you know if these are shimmery/glittery? I prefer my cheek stain stuff to be very natural – no shimmer. Thanks so much for the review! So glad these worked out for you.

    • the Muse

ndoodles my pleasure. They aren’t shimmery or glittery, very natural. Hope this helps!
