Lush Glogg Shower Gel Review

I don’t drink but I really like boozy smells. Is that weird? Hmmm. Like mulled wine or tropical drinks and such, they smells so wicked good don’t they?

That’s why I indulged in Lush Glogg Shower Gel since it’s described as a mulled wine and I was all about having that in my shower gel.

Jump!

Prior to heading into my Lush Glogg Shower Gel purchase I was prepared to be disappointed. This is a good thing as I wasn’t hopeful about loving it and being crushed that I didn’t.

I don’t like Glogg at all however I will say that it’ll probably become a very popular Lush item and will be very popular with many Lushies. To me Glogg has a bit of Lush Chai Shower Gel to it. It’s spicy, it’s warm, it’s rich, and it’s not all bad but it’s just not for someone like me who favors fruity, sweet, unicorns, and rainbows type of fragrances.

Sadly I don’t get wine from the mix even though it contains a healthy shot of red wine and brandy. I do however get straight up cinnamon undiluted and hardcore. It’s abrasive to my nose as it doesn’t contain any sweetness that makes cinnamon a nice scent. For example sugar and cinnamon together is gorgeous however cinnamon alone is a tad harder, bolder, and richer and not entirely pleasant to my nose. Cloves are are also in the mix but it doesn’t give the cinnamon a softer edge but more of a harsher one that comes across darker.

If you like warm, spicy scents this will probably appeal however if you’re looking for something that’s spicy as well as a little sweet, this won’t be for you. It leans towards being one of Lush’s darker offering in the realms of Karma, etc….and far from items like Snow Fairy, Sex Bomb, etc…

If you’re seeking a boozy, warm mulled wine, this won’t be it either. Personally I get alot of cinnamon to it.

Will you like it?

I’m not sure, it really depends on your nose for scents and what you normally favor in the realms of fragrance. Those who are foody, fruity, or sweet types might not love this. Those who enjoy sweeter florals or florals will also not like it. However, those who like herbal, earthy, or patchouli type scents will find the joy in this.

It’s definitely something that needs to be sniffed prior to purchasing to see if it’s for you.

I can see myself using up the bottle I got as it’s not so bad I can’t stand the smell however it’s not something I’d probably willingly reach for daily or repurchase.

No likey.

Sorry Lush, I’ll stick with my beloved Snow Fairy.

Anyone try Lush Glogg?

What did you think?

Lol, I love your description of smells you like. “fruity, sweet, unicorns, and rainbows” you have the best sense of humor 🙂
Too bad about this- I would love a wine-smelling body wash, too.

    • the Muse

LOL Stephanie ;-D that’s such a SO me description of scents I like lol!

I was hoping it would be a warm spicy wine scent but it comes across all hard cinnamon to me 😛

  • Stephanie

I have very low expectations for this one. I am definitely waiting until I get a chance to sniff it in the store!

    • the Muse

I did too stephanie. It’s just not a me scent. I was kinda hoping to be pleasantly surprised but also prepared myself for not liking it!

  • Heather

So excited for this. I recently just ordered retro stuff like the Chai, and Sonic Death Monkey! I can’t get enough of this brand!

  • Jorid

Gløgg! Scandinavian christmas drink no. 1!
I’m so looking forward to this 😀

      • Jorid

No :/ We don’t have a Lush store in our City, Lush has only two stores in Norway.

I think I’ll have to order this one and other christmas Lush products from the UK soon though, they look great! 😀

        • the Muse

aw sorry jorid 🙁 that stinks but at least Lush UK does the trick ;D

  • Rowan

It smells reallly sweet and cinammony to me, I guess we all have different noses!

  • Kristin

Smells like a warm, sweet, spicey Dr. Pepper to me. I was hoping for something a little closer to Cinders, but it’s still nice.

    • the Muse

kristin that’s what I hoped for. Cinders is a fav of mine and comes across sweeter due to the orange notes, glogg would be perfect if I could capture that.

  • Emilie

OMG! I love glögg! I will have glögg all december this year (like last year) – I’m from sweden ^^

  • Eve

Sounds interesting. I love warm and spicy scents but if it does come across too cinammony like you said then it’ll be a no for me! Too much cinnamon is just yuck!

    • the Muse

agreed eve. I’m more cinnamon and spice this is straight cinnamon for me 😛

  • Eileen

I was wondering about this one when I placed my Lush order the other day and from your description, Muse …. I’m glad I passed. I’m just the opposite of you …. I like to drink my booze! Have always hated liquor chocolates, sauces heavy on the wine etc …..

  • jonnie

Mine is out for delivery right now… I’m still holding out hope for getting a bit of sweetness in mine. I’m imagining it to be a bit like Lambs-wool BPAL… sounds like that’s a no for you. It will be a tough call tonight if I try Ghost or Glogg first… 😉

    • the Muse

Mmmmmmmmm jonnie not really like lambs wool to me. but I’m curious to see what you think! GHOSTTTTTTTTTT love ghost ;D

  • Ruth Thurston

Hey girlie! When you said it reminded you a bit of LUSH Chai I totally “got” it – LUSH Chai and I just don’t get along – and I LOVE real Chai, the taste and smell!

Sometimes LUSH scents are just a little… different from the real thing… like you said, in this case, lacking the sweetness that changes the fragrance from harsh to gorgeous!

Got a rec for you since you like sweet ‘boozy’ scents – have you tried KORRES Glogg Wine Showergel?? I think you might really like! It’s delicious smelling! I detect cinnamon, orange peel, red wine, and more – but all very sweet and warm – ‘boozy’ if you will (LOL – that cracks me up – I also don’t really drink but love ‘boo zy’ smelling stuff! ;-D))!

Here’s a link to it on the KORRES website (I snagged a bottle last year at TJ Maxx after the holidays for uber-cheap – YAY! – and the scent is so fall-winter-ish that I still have lots left for this year’s cold season!): .

I haven’t checked to see if this scent is at Sephora as well or not – might be… Anyway, HTH! 🙂

    ~Ruthie

    • the Muse

hey ruthie. Yup a tiny bit ;-D That’s true. Lush scents that you’d typical believe to smell like one thing end up coming up completely diffs!!!!!!!!! No I didn’t even know korres had glogg WOW! HA we are scary weird right? lol! WTH is that all about? I can’t stand hard liquor but love the smell of it!? Holy strange!

Thanks for the rec I’m SO checking this out ;-D love ya muchly!

  • jones

Oooh, I love warm glögg in the winter! (the drink that is)
Too bad that they closed down the Lush store here, this might’ve been really interesting.

  • Kay

Mmm bought this today and I love it, smells like Pepsi to me! Only got the teeny size but I will be sending a big one or two home, definitely want this year round! Sorry you didn’t like it, hopefully you’ve had a lot more joy with the other Christmas products 🙂

    • the Muse

hey kay awesome ;-D glad you enjoyed it. Pepsi? hehe I didn’t get that AT all ;-D

      • Kay

Totally Pepsi on my end! But the last couple of times I used it it turns into nummy Christmas smell, just like a scent my mum uses round the house in the holidays! Ah childhood memories 😛 Love!

        • the Muse

damn kay I wish I got all this girl! I’m getting too harsh cinnamon ;P

  • jonnie

Hmm… okay, so Glogg is definitely nothing like Lambs-wool…

That being said, I definitely don’t hate it. I don’t get any wine scent in it (too bad… I both love drinking my booze and smelling it!), but to me it smells just like all the spices that I use when I’m mulling red wine in the winter. Definitely way more spicy than I usually wear or use (I do get a teeny hint of sweetness that reminds me a little of a red hot candy), but I am actually pretty excited to get this back out once it starts snowing (probably before too long, here in Michigan… sigh…). It reminds me of lazy winter nights by a fire. Drinking mulled wine, of course. 😉

So yah, not the super sweet foody scents I normally love, but this is a really nice seasonal smell for me. Wouldn’t use it in the summer by any means, but it’s perfect for winter!

    • the Muse

      noooooooo Jonnie ;-D

I don’t get the booze, wish I did b/c I’d prob love it more. I think once it snows I might get a little more excited about it ;-D

  • Amanda

I love Glogg- but then I LOVE patchouli. I never would have put those two together (even in the earthy smell way). You are so right with this one. 🙂
