Lush Snow Fairy Lip Tint Review and Swatches

I hoard Snow Fairy Shower Gel like a crazy lady. I love the stuff. I get several bottles each year for fear that the next time Lush releases its Holiday Collection that Snow Fairy won’t be included.

I should know better.

It always comes back but still the fear that it won’t is a very, very, very real thing. Imagine a Christmas without Snow Fairy? Gasp! Horrifying to even consider.

Lucky enough Snow Fairy is back again this year and even though it graces my shower 365 days of the year, thanks to my hoarding tendencies, I’m still happy to hail its return. Happy days Lush has extended the graces of Snow Fairy to a lip tint too!

Check it!

A delicious tinted lip balm for lips!

I was pretty impressed that Lush took something as complex as Snow Fairy and fit the flavor into a Lip Scrub. Bubblegum Lip Scrub turned out to be so incredibly delicious that I was surprised I didn’t sit down and eat it with a spoon!

Flash forward several months and Lush Snow Fairy Lip Tint hits our Holiday Season with a bubble gum, snow fairy scent and flavor to make lips happy and healthy looking.

When I think of Snow Fairy I seriously do not think it would translate so well to lip products. It’s a shower gel after all and you can’t help but think, “ewww it’ll taste like soap!” But honestly, Lush took the scent and made it entirely tasty. It’s a cross between the fruity good nature of Snow Fairy with a sweeter bubble gum base that makes it smell oh so yummie and tastes even better.

Now unlike the recently reviewed It Started With A Kiss, Snow Fairy Lip Tint runs more cooler. The shade is a bright pop of pink that I dub great for cheeks. Now Lush didn’t have any intention of creating its lip tints for your face but I’ve been using them to add a healthy dose of color to my cheeks on days I’m not up for an entire makeup look. And guess what? They work a treat!

Unlike other Lush lip balms, Snow Fairy actually has a very good moisturizing base to it. It does feel a tad waxy on lips but not nearly as bad as other Lush lip balms I’ve tried and disliked. It’s bearable compared to those and anyone who isn’t keen on lip balms from the brand will appreciate the more hydrating feel of Snow Fairy!

For some reason the shade failed to work well on my lips. Where as It Started with a Kiss gives a really nice blush of color to my lips, Snow Fairy looks a tad unnatural and even a bit uneventful. I think it might work better on lips that aren’t as pigmented as my own. However, on cheeks, it’s a win!

  • Snow Fairy fans (if you love the shower gel, chances are you’ll adore the lip tint).
  • Anyone who wants a product that will quickly inject a healthy glow on cheeks (Multitask! Use it on your cheeks and your lips)

  • Anyone with pigmented lips (my lips are pretty pigmented already and Snow Fairy fails to show up so well on them and looks a tad strange even)

If you want something to use on lips and cheeks I’d settle for It Started With a Kiss as I thought it worked well on both. However, if you have less pigmented lips in need of a dose of color Snow Fairy Lip Tint might do the job well and multitask on cheeks as well but if you’re lips lean towards being more pigmented you might want to stick to your cheeks like I did. Snow Fairy did have a good base to work with and isn’t nearly as waxy or hard textured as other Lush Lip Balms. It has a few flaws but fans of the brand won’t mind in the least.

Anyone try?

I’m so glad to hear that this isn’t as dry as lush’s other lip products. I just ordered this along with a bottle of snow fairy, 2 catrina soaps, and a few other random things 🙂

    • the Muse

CJ much better texture in my opinion, not nearly as hard. Little waxy but not too bad ;-D w00t for Lady Catrina ;-D

  • Molly

My sister likes snow fairy. I cannot use it since my skin is uber sensative. I must try their lip tints since I . .well . rather dislike their lip service balm, and none of your beeswax. . . icky

Thanks for the review! I picked up “It Started With A Kiss” for a friend, and ended up getting myself one out of curiosity, and it is RED on me, So I was curious about the new Snow Fairy coming out, and well now I am worried it’s going to be far too pink on me. :/

    Thanks for swatching!

    • the Muse

my pleasure S. sorry about it started with a kiss not working out for you hun 🙁

      • S.

Me too! I was so excited about it, I thought if I applied it a touch lighter, it would give me a nice glow, but I think I need to work on that. 🙂

Gorgeous colour though, but with a thin upper lip, red is a hard colour for me to pull 🙂

        • the Muse

same here S. It doesn’t translate so well on my lips, looks gorg in the pot but not my lips damn 😛 use the red on your cheeks, it’s all warm and lovely!

  • Stephanie

I am excited to try this one! The Bubblegum lip scrub was a little too sweet for me though, so I am guessing I will have the same reaction to the small and taste of this one as well.

  • Eileen

Bought Snow Fairy & It Started With a Kiss lip tints recently and I’m going to try using Resort Life lipgelee over them to perk them up. Will let you know what I think …. btw Muse, did you ever try Let Them Eat Cake, what was that like?

    • the Muse

I never tried let them eat cake eileen but I believe it smelled like Christmas Cake Soap and that’s my absolutely FAV lush soap so sad it’s gone!

  • Jessie

I want this I want this! But is it really more moisturizing than the other lip tints? I am hesitate to buy something that is going to give me dry lips

    • the Muse

hey Jessie. It’s not highly moisturizing and still has a dense formula but it’s ALOT better than the other balms that Lush does.

  • aysha

ooh i bought this yesterday love the colour (reminds me of Benefits posietint alot!) and the smell taste is spot on Snow Fairy.. moisturising too but mines gritty?

    • the Muse

a little gritty on top aysha but scratch below the surface, much better ;-D

  • Mina

I dropped by the nearest Lush shop today and they were just unboxing the holiday collection stock which included this 😀 Too bad I can’t get it today since they are still incorporating it to their store inventory… but I immediately reserved some and would be getting it tomorrow… yay!!!

They still don’t have “It started with a Kiss” yet… but will be stalking Lush for its arrival…hehehe. 😀

    • the Muse

aw jeez mina couldn’t they just throw you a bone! making you wait grrrr ;-D but at least you can grab it shortly ;-D You’re going to love it started with a kiss I actually like it more than Snow Fairy ;-D try it on your cheeks!

      • Mina

I know!!! But I finally have it… bought a couple of bottles of snow fairy bath gels as well… you are right, I am getting addicted to the bath gels more than the lip tint hehehe. 😀 I have very pigmented lips so the color of snow fairy barely showed. I’m waiting for the arrival of It started with a kiss since that would have a better chance of showing up on my lips 😀 Hope you had a happy halloween muse!!! 😀

        • the Muse

ha mina told ya so ;-D I think you’ll love it started with a kiss, I thought it was nicer than snow fairy, not nearly as tasty, but nicer shade ;-D Aw thank you! It was fab, how was yours?! did you dress up!?

          • Mina

It was pretty fab too! 😀 Our office hosted a halloween party for the kids and I wore black halo and wings while we played with the kids 😀

          • the Muse

aw that’s sweet mina plus you get the added benefit of dressing up and enjoying yourself. I had a massive party myself on Saturday night ;-D Did a Cheesybeards costume from the Guild, dork alert ;D Hope the office party had treats and good food ;-D

  • Lucy

The color probably didn’t show up on your lips because it is so like to your lips! When I purchased this, I was also disappointed that it didn’t show up well on my lips. Works great as a blush, though!

  • Ann Charmaine Cay

I want to love this product. I just think to scent is too strong for me. It’s like I’m applying solid fragrance on my lips.
