MAC A Tartan Tale A Triumphant Blush Face Kit Review, Swatches, Photos
When I originally started collecting MAC, the Holiday Palettes normally stuck to eyeshadow ones but in more recent years, lucky for new MAC collectors and users, they have included Face Palettes as well.
Today I have the MAC A Tartan Tale A Triumphant Blush Face Kit to review for you.
Let’s take a look!
A special Holiday edition palette featuring beauty powder, blush, and shimmer powders!
Obviously the plaid theme is full force on the palettes in this collection. This one features a thin, velvet fabric sheet that covers the face plate of the compact and features the plaid design and MAC golden emblem.
Inside is a dual layer of powder which slides out to reveal a larger size powder beneath. The left side features Melba Blush which is a soft peach and on the right side Peach Twist which is a Golden Peach Shimmer. MAC deems Peach Twist a sheertone shimmer but it’s pigmented enough to act as a blush on its own and is quite pretty particularly if you have a warmer skin tone. On the bottom layer you get a MAC Beauty Powder in Smooth Harmony. Smooth Harmony can easily act as a contour powder or a bronzer and if you really work at it you might be able to get away with using it as a blush.
The compact is a nice way of toting around three products in one tiny space. Even though the compact is smaller it doesn’t suffer problems for application and you can easily get at the product with a full size brush.
I only have the palette a day or two and can’t really say but I’m not sure how the plaid face sticker will fare after a few uses. It seems sturdy enough but I do worry about it staining, getting wet, or peeling up so do practice a but of caution when using the palette or tossing it in your bag.
- Anyone who favors warmer shades of blusher!
- Anyone who likes palettes that are designed in an interesting way (the slide out makes the palette a rather great pick for those who like a little gadgetry with their makeup).
- Anyone who wears cooler shades well (this could prove a little too warm for fairer skin types).
- Anyone uninterested in bronzer like shades (the colors lean towards a more bronze-y look).
I’m not really feeling the love for Smooth Harmony plus I already own it from MAC Heatherette’s release however I do like Mebla and Peach Twist plus the overall design of the palette is rather fun. This is a great way introduction to MAC’s powder products particularly blushers and beauty powders if you haven’t already tried them as you get all three for $38 however fans of the MAC range may find they already have these shades in their stash or might hold out for the eye palettes since I think those are the better option for more advanced MAC fans.
