MAC Cool Thrillseekers Pigments and Glitter Set Review, Swatches, Photos

Ahhh everyone feeling quite excited about MAC Holiday Pigment sets this year eh? I admit, I’m a total killjoy, I’m not excited. I have 100’s of piggies already so the joy I once felt for collecting MAC piggie sets has diminished. Sad sigh. I wish I can muster up some excitement for you guys but sadly I think I’ve definately overdone it in the pigment department.

But the good news is if you don’t have a ton of MAC Pigments here’s your chance to get a variety of shades at a discount price.

Yay!

Jump ahead to take a peek at the MAC Thrillseekers Pigment Collection from A Tartan Tale Holiday 2010.

MAC’s releasing three pigments set this year which include four pigments each and one glitter. Depending on how you like your sparkle you might be overjoyed at the aspect of glitter included with the set or you might be disappointed because you just wanted an extra pigment and not a vial of glitter. Personally I love the MAC Reflects Glitter as they are super fine grains of sparkle and they apply with minimal fuss plus they add a little something extra to any eye look.

The pigments and glitter come in small 0.09 vials. Honestly, you can get years out of these vials simply because MAC piggies are so pigmented with plenty of color pay off. I find these are conventional for travel and a more realistic size for me since I have so many larger sizes that prove impossible to get through in this life time. I wish MAC would create pigments in this size all the time. I wrote an article a very long time ago about the Importance of Piggie Vials, you might wanna take a peek!

The cool set includes the following shades:

  • Reflects Pearl Glitter (silver glitter with pink sparkle)
  • Silver Fog (shimmer gray pigment)
  • Cheers my Dear! (pale violet almost pink pigment)
  • Softwash Grey (light purplish gray blush pigment)
  • Mauvement (taupe shimmer)

I wouldn’t dub Mauvement a cool shade but it’s still a very nice shade if you’re a fan of neutrals. Sadly, I actually have all of these aside from Cheers My Dear which does remind me of a less flaky version of Kitschmas.

The colors lean towards a tad mundane in this particularly set but still the value of the set is well worth the indulgence as it’ll set you back around $6 and a bit of change per vial at the $32.50 price tag.

A deal?

Yes.

I recommend pigment sets for less than advanced MAC users who haven’t really played around with pigments before or for those seeking to extend their collection but are unable to justify full size pigment purchases. The kits offer a great way to get more for less plus offer a variety of shades in a cute reusable tin.

Are you indulging in MAC Pigment sets this Holiday?

Which ones?

Ooh, I think I might just get this, I only have Mauvement out of them and just recently got into Reflects Glitters, so this will be a nice addition to my stash. Just a question though, glitters aren’t supposed to be eye safe, are they?
