Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream Review

The day I turned 30 I proceeded to freak the F out when I noticed weird stuff going on under my eyes. Well into my twenties all was fine but suddenly the big 3 0 creeps up and I’m seeing fine lines, puff, and all sorts of other stuff happening under there.

What went wrong?

I’ve always been of the mentality that I’d age gracefully and not sweat the little things. Yeah, right. Total panic attack. I forgot all the rules of a good hitchhiker and proceeded to PANIC like no one’s business.

Needless to say a year or two or three has gone by and I’ve been purchasing ever single lotion and potion on the market that promises to erase fine lines and preserve my youth. Is that even possible?

Probs not.

But here’s the good news….

Rule Number 1. Don’t Panic.

Rule Number 2. In many cases your fine lines can easily be erased and are only hanging around due to dryness.

In my case I easily got rid of my fine lines thanks to hydrating and moisturizing well and poof! gone! disappeared! Keep your eyes hydrated with a really good eye cream and you’ll be golden.

My latest pick for super, intensive, OMG I can’t believe it’s not butter eye cream would be Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream.

Check it!

An eye cream packed with Hyaluronic Acid that helps lock in the skins own natural moisture without the use of heavy, greasy oils.

Whoa.

Seriously. This is probably the most intensely hydrating eye cream I’ve EVER used. And believe me I’ve been around the block a time or two with eye creams.

This is extremely rich, extremely moisturizing, and crazy hydrating. If you have dry under eyes, you NEED it. The formula has a light aloe vera smell with a thick, cream consistency. Swatching on your hand it feels light and gel-like however under your eyes it feels very thick and creamy. I was a little worried about the richer formula as eye creams I’ve tried with rich formulas in the past like this have caused hooded eyes and milia. Lucky enough this doesn’t do either. Although rich in texture it doesn’t cause havoc under my eyes in the least.

I use it strictly as an eye night cream. In my opinion you should not attempt using this as a day cream, it’s a tad TOO rich to sport in the day and may cause woe with your makeup. Pat it on, leave it overnight, and wake up with incredibly smooth, hydrated eyes. The effect is awesome! It truly eases fine lines up that crop up due to dryness. My concealer applies smoother in the morning and my eyes are left looking beautiful in the AM. Plus the Hyaluronic Acid locks moisture in so the effects of the cream last for days after use even when not applied daily. Although I do suggest using it daily.

Sadly, it doesn’t ease puffiness but the formula does NOT promise that so I’m not too crushed.

It doesn’t absorb easily. You really have to sit around and pat and pat and pat some more to get it in place correctly. This is why I don’t recommend it for day use as it’ll probably make your concealer slip and slide around in a major way. As a night cream it rocks but as a day I think it’ll cause problems.

  • Anyone with fine lines caused by dryness (this will instantly ease tightness, dryness, and erase finer lines causes by the dryness).
  • Anyone seeking an eye cream that will give lasting results (this will lock in moisture for days later after use).
  • Anyone having problems with concealer that cakes or creases (your eyes will be softer and moister in the AM after use and concealer will apply with ease thanks to this).
  • Anyone suffering from dry under eyes.

  • Anyone who is in their 20’s (I do not think you’ll need such a rich eye cream if your in your younger 20’s).
  • Anyone who isn’t keen on a fast absorbing eye cream (this takes time and patience to get in place correctly and even than it’ll sit on the surface of the skin, not a bad thing in my opinion as it seems to sink in slowly).
  • Anyone seeking a light eye cream for daily day and night use (I recommend this for night wear not for day).

Not everyone will like this due to the very rich formula. It doesn’t absorb quickly plus it isn’t a treatment cream that will suppress the signs of aging it does however instantly deliver an intense boast of moisture to dry under eyes and keeps them hydrated for days after use. I do wish it had anti-aging ingredients as that would make it even better however I can completely appreciate the wonders it did for my dryness. Totally loving this particularly for Winter use.

Best part?

An affordable $18 for a jar that will last you literally ages since a little goes a long way.

Have you tried Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream?

“I can’t believe it’s not butter.” I just had an image of Fabio flash thru my head.

  • Bunny Masseuse

Is this a good one for just under the eyes or can you use it on the lids too?

    • the Muse

I don’t really cream my lids Bunny. It might a little rich for lids and make you oily but I’m not sure. I’ve never really used eye cream on my lids before hun.

      • Bunny Masseuse

No worries, my new regimen from the Derm has me with very dry lids and I prefer to moisten them a bit before I use any primer.

        • the Muse

maybe try it bunny? I honestly never use eye cream above my lids ;-D but you never know!?

  • Bonnie

NO WAY you’re in your thirties! You look like you’re 16! I def. must take your advice on anti-aging! HAHHAH!

I highly recommend Mario Badescu line. Natural, all green, all good stuff for your skin. Nothing hi tech (no syn-akes and acetyl hexopeptides here 😉 ) but perfect for preventative care e.g. you can start young 🙂 so do not miss trying it! Register on the site and request 3 try me products – I think they generate the items based on the short survey to determine your skin type and concerns. Not sure though so dig out and check their web site. Of course Ulta and other retailers carry MB but I prefer their site – frequent free ship coupons and they send $10 eGift Card EVERY year on your birthday! 🙂
Besides you get 3 samples with the order too – not iffy tiny can’t use samples but what passes as de-luxe samples for some mkup lines.

You are awesome! (as always) This review made my day. I turn 29 tomorrow and my undereye area is slowly starting to resemble crepe paper. And only $18 for this? Genius. I’m totally ordering it today. lol

    • the Muse

court let me know how it works out for you? I freaking love this stuff. I’m about a three weeks in to using it and it’s done such favors for my dry under eyes!

  • PauFM

SHUT the front door! I never thought you were a day over like, 28! Honestly you look amazing 🙂

  • spifftiff88

I agree, I never would have guessed you were above 26! I have to say I am using a Mario Badescu Ceramide Herbal Eye Cream sample and it’s seriously awesome. It’s so super hydrating and I have really dry undereyes so I’m going to look into this particular eye cream also (though I’m only 22)..thanks for the review as always 🙂

    • the Muse

thanks spiff you’re amazing ;-D I <3 you guys lol! I haven't tried the ceramide but I think that's supposed to help with puffiness isn't it?!? ;-D do tell! my pleasure hun!

  • Alexa

OMG I need this! I was just complaining to a co-worker today about how flaky and dry my undereye area is! <3 you!

    • the Muse

ha awesome alexa what’s new hun!? I’ve been swamped so I’ve been OOT!

  • Nia

hahaha, so agree on the panicking, was there last winter due to dryness lines 😉

Thanks a lot for the review, sounds like something I could use here when my skin dries up during winter. Have you tried the Biotherm eye cream? Also very nourishing.
But so far my best was a Clarins cream with oil at night. Do you prefer the cream to oil?
    TIA 🙂

    • the Muse

same here nia. panic attack but thankfully most fine lines can easily be erased thanks to good moisturizers ;-D I haven’t tried Boiterm. I prefer cream, less mess but I do love oil and balms under my eyes as well since they REALLY deliver a shot of hydration ;D

  • Kate Newton

I am sad that it doesn’t absorb easily. Actually, i really prefer serum rather than go for cream as it gets absorb so its not a waste for me.

  • fantastic

I’ve been using this for the last year or so–and both the Mr and I like it. Either ours absorbs easily, or we just have very dry skin..it hasn’t been much of a problem for it to sink in quickly. Sometimes I prefer this to a balm, especially to avoid irritations.

  • Jane

Great review! I bought this without reading reviews as I wanted an alternative to my $65 Shiseido Benefiance….after 2 days I am LOVING it, glad to see you like it too! I have fine lines (45yrs +) slightly crepe-y under eye area and slight crows feet. I like a rich cream so I am using a teeny bit day & night and my Lancome Effacernes under eye concealer sits perfectly on it!

  • kitty

    Hi muse!

I am 34 years old and live in Singapore (tropical country). I have fine and deep lines under my eyes. Because there’s no winter here, so I assume this cream may be too rich for me. My face is quite oily and sometimes I will get small oil pimples if my face gets too oily. Will Benefit’s It’s Potent cream do for me or can you recommend me a cream please?

    Thanks!

  • Sherryl

It sounds crazy but the inside of banana peel gets rid of fine lines quickly. If my tiny lines start to bother me I cut a small ox of banana peel and duct tape it by my eyes in that little corner of the outside. Leave it on over night. Lines are gone in a day or two. I’m 66 soon and it works!
