Musings of the Day: Do you Temptu?

I’ve been curious about airbrushing for a long time but I’ve always been a bit hesitate to try since it seems like alot of work. There are alot of systems currently out that offer affordable airbrushing such as the Temptu. Not only is the unit affordable but it’s super easy clean up, application, and seems like a great way to get flawless coverage.

Do you Temptu?

Jump!

I don’t yet but I’m going to be giving it a try shortly. Temptu seems like the most logical choice for airbrushing considering you don’t have to use messy liquids. The foundations, highlighters, and even blushes are housed in a pod which can be clicked in and out of the system. Pretty nifty for airbrush n00bs like myself.

Do you Temptu?

Have you tried the system?

Own one?

Do you airbrush?

I’m curious how many people take time out to airbrush in the morning. Supposedly it takes under 5 minutes to complete so I can honestly spare that much considering my makeup application ranges from 10 to 20 minutes in the morning anyway.

Do share!

heather it’s supposed super easy to use but I totally can relate knowing me I’d end up spraying it in my eyes lol! I’m kinda eager to try though!

  • Ludwig

Sephora sent out an email a couple of weeks ago for a free Temptu highlighter if you try out their airbrush system. I must say, I was quite impressed by it. The mist was very fine and it had a cooling effect and it had a nice pleasant smell to it, which is a big plus for me because I hate “foundation smell”. The only thing that I would be concerned about is spraying it in my eyes!

      • Ludwig

Yup, I meant I tried the airbrush system and I got the highlighter for free for trying it : )

        • the Muse

Ah gotcha Ludwig ;-D I tried the highlighters too and love ’em ;-D good for touch ups too! Whatcha think of the airbrush?

  • jlau

OMGGGGGGGG I WAS JUST TRYING THIS SYSTEM OUT YESTERDAY AND WAS PRAYING YOU WOULD DO A REVIEW! From what I could feel and see it seems like a DREAM. I’d probably have to go back and try again. It is so expensive though…Some people on MUA say that the foundation pods run out fast and makes you orange and blah blah…I’m still tempted…I can’t wait for your review!!!

    • the Muse

lol jlau your excitement is addicting. Where did you try it out? Sephora? ;-D The pod I got to try is warm ivory I believe and it doesn’t look orange at all! It is very expensive but will be nicer during sephora FF ;-D sweeten the pot with 20% off eh?

      • jlau

Sephora FF is only for US residents isn’t it…=( Your neighbour to the north doesn’t qualify =(
I indeed did try it at Sephora! The SA picked a colour that matched me perfectly. Next time I want to ask if I can try to apply myself…

        • the Muse

aw sorry jalu 🙁 sigh that stinks 🙁 I guessed my shade ;-D I should have really gone own and been fitted for the right shade but warm ivory sounded about right!? ;-D

  • LINDARRAGNAR

no i don’t like temptu for some reason i understand its not as “messy” as conventional air brush systems but for the price i would much rather buy a traditional air compressor and gun so then i could do eye shadow, blush, higlighting, and foundaiton and choose my colours!! theres nothing worse then a good foundation that doesn’t have enough colours!

  • hana

Oh i tried it out at Sephora and quite liked it. Everyone said it made my face look flawless. No streaks whatsoever. But looking in the mirror I thought I looked somewhat plastic-y.

Not very easy to use either since I was told repeatedly that I was doing it wrong when they let me play with it on the other side of my face XD

idk but I still think my mineral foundation works best for me. I guess it depends on the people. Some suit powders, some liquid and some airbrushing. I thought it felt kind of heavy. Like I could literally feel I was wearing makeup as opposed to using my normal powders and liquid foundation.

The machine itself imo is affordable but the price of the pods (and you have to replace them every 3-5 months) is a bit expensive. I’d say leave it to celebs lols.

    • the Muse

oh no hana no likey the plastic look girl. Hope I don’t experience that. I think foundation is definitely a very personal choice. for example I can’t get on with minerals at all ;-D I’m more a cream girl and can’t even begin to fathom why people like minerals, no offense. So yup foundation def is a personal thing ;-D

  • LorraineER

I would love to get an airbrushing system! The only thing I don’t like about it is giving up my high-end foundations. I wish you could use whatever foundation you wanted in the machine rather than having to use their brand. I think I will eventually get one but it’s not currently something I can afford. I was thinking a Dinair but I would do more research first.
Do you think the Temptu is the best one?

    • the Muse

that would be really cool Lorraine ;-D I dunno tbh. As I’ve never tried airbrushing before this ;-D so not sure which is the best 😀

  • Kerri

god i’m jealous that you guys have sephora…. i’m in australia, last time i went to US i kind of became obsessed with sephora and am devestated that they don’t do international shipping. the day that they ship OS is the day that i’m in serious trouble with my credit card.

  • Julie

Love the finish of airbrush, BUT really prefer the Luminess Air or Stream Cosmetics products over Temptu. Easier to use, and less expensive on the refills. :0)

  • Regina

ooh it looks interesting but at a $225 price tag its a bit steep for a starving college student.

  • Pooja

    Hi Muse
I was actually going to request you to do a review,I was very tempted to buy Temptu, but finally went for Dinair,It’s not that hard to clean, nor does it take lot of time & I also got my perfect match by mixing 2 colours, only it doesn’t look as stylish as temptu, but it would be interesting to see which system works out to be more economical in the long run,thx

    • the Muse

hi pooja ;-D I’m very eager to start testing it out. Curious about the results. Haven’t tried Dinair….how much is it? Curious minds!

    long time no read HIYA
    apologies
    😀
im in to minds about this id be interested to read you review (and judging by the comment above im assuming you have it ordered)
see ive heard about this read/watched reviews about it like forever ago but if its so good
then why hasnt it caught on quicker ??
why isnt everpne using it ??
but but the flipside of that is the fact that it hasnt caught on so quick and doesnt seem to have made its way across the pond super quick may suggest that it is here to stay and not just a passing fad (you know for example orange oompa loompa fake tan … oh wait damn thats still around !!)
    lolza

    • the Muse

hiya robyn where ya been ;-D

Not sure as far as I know alot of people have used and liked it 🙂

Oh gosh hope we don’t get orange oompa loompa tan from it but I don’t think so as the color matches look legit ;-D

  • Fembot

I bought the Luminess Pro airbrush system when I went to the IMATs this year. (Temptu was there too, but I stopped at Luminess first.)

The biggest selling point of Luminess over Temptu was that L is water-based and T is silicon based. Although it *is* a pain to have to order foundation online–but they’re supposed to start selling refills in Ulta this Fall? (That’s the rumor I heard anyway.)

      • Fembot

I mix two of the lightest colors together, both yellow-based. I’d say they probably have 10 shades all together?

Cleanup is a snap. Easier than washing makeup brushes.

  • Ruthless

I tested out the Temptu at Sephora, the good is that the formula is unique so it doesn’t stick to eyebrows or clothes-you won’t get color anywhere except on skin. The bad is that you can’t use it for anything other than temptu and you can’t mix foundations, you have to pick a pre determined foundation. I have read that this is why artists don’t use it.

If I were going to buy a compressor I’d pick one I could run self tanner through as well as foundation, although if you have lots of money Temptu is pretty nice.
