Napoleon Perdis Siren Lip Gloss Set Review, Photos, Swatches

Between November and February a majority of us, are typically awaiting for the arrival of Old Saint Nick followed by a helping of cold weather, the flu, and turkey.

As for the those lucky enough to live in Australia they are pretty much enjoying Summer sun and good times, laughing at our sorry selves for being cold and miserable.

Considering Australia doesn’t have the typical moan and groan weather associated with the Holiday Season it’s not a great surprise that the Napoleon Perdis Swept Away Collection embraces a fun, sunny theme for the Holidays.

Yes, Napoleon Perdis chucked the typical red lip, did away with the silvery smoky eye, and ditched the gold shimmer for his Holiday Collection. And in its place he decided tempting shades of warm, tropical hues, bronzer, and the ocean were all the order of business for Holiday 2010.

Pretty novel to celebrate the Holidays with a touch of tropical good times dontcha think? Makes me wanna sing Mele Kalikimaka!

The Napoleon Perdis Siren Lip Gloss Pack is a pretty selection of sunny shades with yummie flavors like passion fruit, orange, pineapple, mango, and strawberry to really bring tropical to the table.

Shrug. Might be Christmas soon but doesn’t mean we have to settle for sledding, hot chocolate, and snow when we can have fun in the sun, cocktails, and the tropics in Winter!

Loves it!

Five generously sized lipglosses in a sunny shades and tasty flavors!

I love these.

Not only are they a generous size, 0.08 oz each, but they have a really tasty formula. Each gloss has a different flavor. Seriously, how cool is that? Sure brands flavor their glosses but how many go out of there way to make each gloss an individual flavor in their gift sets? Personally I think that’s really going above and beyond. Flavors include passion fruit, orange, pineapple, mango, and strawberry.

I’m not only partial to the flavor but I really love the formula as well. If you missed out on the Chanel Gloss Fluo De Chanel Brilliant Lip Shine these sport a very similar formula. They have a very lightweight feel which wraps the lips up in a syrupy texture. A few layers leaves behind a nice shiny finish sans a tacky, sticky feeling. It’s really hard to describe the formula but it feels like a lightweight syrup. It’s a really nice wearing gloss that leaves behind a delicate pop of color depending on the shade you use. Each gloss has a short stubbed lip applicator for application.

Out of the five glosses, Tangerine (gorgeous neon tangerine with gold shimmer), Strawberry (neon orange), and Mango (clear peach) are the three that remind me most of the Chanel Gloss Fluo. These all leave behind a touch of color that’s noticeable but not loud. Granted, inside the tube they do look a tad intimating but the finish is really subtle yet pretty enough to be noticed.

The other shades include Pineapple (milky pink) and Passion Fruit (milky tan).

Pineapple (milky pink) and Passion Fruit (milky tan) aren’t nearly as eventful as the other shades in the collection and aren’t easily worn well if you favor a less than nude lip look.

The applicator on each brush is great because it allows precise application but a little bigger would have been better as you could layer these up for some great intensity with a better brush.

  • Anyone who missed out on Chanel Gloss Fluo De Chanel Brilliant Lip Shine (three of these are brilliant dupes of the gloss).
  • Anyone wanting to spend their holidays in the tropics (the flavors and the shades will get you in the mood for the beach!).
  • Anyone who wants more for less ($29 gets you five generously sized glosses).

  • Anyone who might make less use out of the milky shades in the set (I ran into this issue with two of the shades but you can always put a little stain under ’em for more pop).
  • Anyone looking for warmer, richer shades for the Holidays (this is like celebrating Summer in the Winter so if you’re wanting a Winter look, these aren’t going to do the trick!)

The novelty of celebrating my Holiday Season with a bit of Summer thrown in has me smiling. In a sea of Holiday Collections that all tend to mimic each other Napoleon Perdis definately stands out as different and unique. The glosses were quite great and I enjoyed the formula.

Overall, a rather fun gloss set!

Not comfortable with the colors for Winter? Buy ’em now and tuck ’em away for the warm weather!

Loves this set.

Worth a haul and a Muse Approval!

I like Napoleon – his primer is still my favorite “it is crime not to prime”, as he says 🙂 and I am agreeable 100%.

    Great set, Muse!!! ;))

But the mention of the holidays plus National Lampoon’s means it’s almost time to hide the staple gun in this house – shall we say festive decoration overload? (And we live very close to a major airport too – which is kinda worrying that pilots will mistake the house for a landing strip – this is all Hubby’s doing and NOTHING to do with me)!!

    • the Muse
