Smashbox Wish The Gold List Review, Swatches, Photos Smashbox O-Gloss Gold Swatches
Smashbox Wish The Gold List is a brand new gift set that features Smashbox O-Gloss Gold. The set includes other great goodies plus a makeup bag but I have to say that the promise of O-Gloss Gold was what really caught my attention at first glance.
Jump ahead for the review and swatches.
A gift set featuring three full size Smashbox products, 1 mini, and a gold lame makeup bag!
The set includes three full size products and one mini size. You get full sizes of brand new Smashbox O-Gloss Gold (not available outside this gift set), Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights in Baked Starburst, and Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener. Purchased separately these three products would set you back $70 plus tax where as the kit also includes a mini Smashbox Photo Finish Luminzing Foundation Primer and a generously sized gold makeup bag for $49. Great deal right?
The star of the set, in my opinion, is O-Gloss Gold. I’m not a big fan of O-Gloss but I have hand it to Gold, it’s fabulous. At first swatch the gloss is a true 24K sparkling gold shade but it actually morphs into a beautiful warm, golden peach with golden shimmer. It’s simply gorgeous and very flattering on lips. The texture of the gloss isn’t the best, which is one reason why I don’t like O-Gloss, but it can be layered up nicely for better shine. You can see in my photo how it’s just starting to turn from gold to that gorgeous shade of peach below and finally when it morphs completely into golden peach.
Riding on the heels of O-Gloss Gold my next favorite item in the set is the Fushion Soft Lights in Baked Startburst. This is a baked array of bronze-y brown, tan, and peach shades and imparts a golden glow on skin and face.
Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brightener is a thinner consistency highlighter that can be used to deflect darkness under the eyes. It has a brush applicator for easy application.
And finally you get a smaller size Smashbox Photo Finish Luminzing Foundation Primer. This is what I had hoped NARS Orgams Illuminator would look like on my skin. It can be easily used as a blush if you’re fair to medium and gives a gorgeous burst of golden peach to cheeks. You can also dab it on cheek bones for instant highlighting or a little above brows to wake them up.
I’m unsure why they dubbed the Photo Finish a foundation primer as I definitely would not apply all over face to prep for foundation. I think it works best to highlight or as a blusher if you’re a bit fairer however all over your face may be overly done in my opinion.
I was a little disappointed that Baked Startburst wasn’t pigmented enough to work as a blush. It gives cheeks a nice golden bronze but acts more to highlight not to leave behind color so a little stain under it works a charm.
Smashbox Photo Op has a cult following however it makes me look very shiny and disco-like. It won’t hide dark circles but acts to diffuse them however I can’t really say it does much anything else than make me look very shine and shimmery.
- Anyone looking for a warm, golden look for the Holidays!
- Anyone who wants to bring that Island glow to their Holiday (or look like they just got back from a tropical vacation).
- Anyone with olive or darker skin (this should flatter tan and olive skin types beautifully).
- Anyone who doesn’t like a bronze look (this leans towards the warmer side of things).
Smashbox The Gold List reminds me more of a Summer Collection than a Holiday one but I can’t deny I actually like the idea of a warmer, richer gold hue for the cooler weather. Smashbox O-Gloss Gold actually makes the kit even more valuable since it turned out to be such an incredible product where as the other items included are cake along with it. The set is a nice one for $49 as you get a variety of items to try out however if you’re leaning more towards eyeshadow you might wish to dish out that near fifty bucks on a super palette with tons of shadow options however if you’re more a face and lip girl than The Gold List will easily become a must have.
Seriously, O-Gloss Gold=wicked awesome!
Loves it.
I think the set is great just to haul for the O-Gloss, really impressed with it. Loves. Hopefully Smashbox considers a release of it for Summer.
Available now from Sephora.
I know some of you already tried the gold O-Gloss and hauled this kit.
