Oh shimmer addicts!

Sonia Kashuk is a breast cancer survivor and created her new limited edition eye palette to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness. 15% of the purchase price of the Pretty in Pink Palette will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation so you’re not only getting your shimmer on here, you’ll also helping out a worthy cause with your purchase.

Let’s have a look at the palette!

A trio of soft, shimmery shades of pink eyeshadow to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

If you’re a fond fan of shadow formulas such as Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eyeshadow and Urban Decay Stardust Eyeshadow you’ll get right on board with the shadows included with this palette.

These are loosely packed eyeshadow with a hell of alot of shimmer, I mean LOTS of shimmer. Formula is very loose and doesn’t have the standard shadow feel. This isn’t powder but more of a pressed pigment texture with a creamy-like base. The shadows pack alot of shimmer and aren’t always true to color. Shades in this trio include a creamy pink shade, a true softer pink, and a deep mauve-like pink. Out of the three the mauveish pink proves the most pigmented and nicest for various looks.

Sadly, aside from the mauveish pink, the other shades swatch as a crystal white shimmer but not as their truer pink colors. So you’re looking at a palette that contains one really nicely pigmented shades and two others that are pretty much the same color.

Fall out is a major problem with this palette. Since the shadow is so loosely packed as soon as you dip in with a brush you’ll end up with shimmer all over the place including cheeks, face, under eyes, etc….so proper prepping and priming is essential for application.

Shades can’t be used together in my opinion. Stick to one and apply but don’t try to apply all three as it simply won’t contrast and you’ll end up with way too much shimmer on your eyes!

  • Anyone who wants to support Breast Cancer Awareness (if you’re wanting a purchase with a cause this is a nice way to pitch in).
  • Anyone who loves shimmer and sparkle (those who favor this finish will adore this).

  • Anyone who hates sparkle (this is heavy duty shimmer so if you’re not a fan, don’t bother).
  • Anyone who dislikes dealing with fall out (fall out can prove a pain to clean up and this palette def suffers fall out woe).
  • Anyone wanting to create an intricate look (this doesn’t offer many options to create a contrasting eye look).

Although it has flaws I still really love the palette particularly because the mauve-ish pink shade comes across so beautifully. For a quick wash of color on lids with a bit of sparkle these palette will prove lovely or you can use the shades over a matte shadow to create a more dramatic look. It’s only $12.99 so I’m not feeling the pains of its flaws too much plus I’m too much of fan of shimmer to complain, these deliver on the sparkle.

I don’t love it but I don’t hate it either and I’m happy to have it as part of my stash.

Aww, too bad the first 2 shades lack pigmentation. These had potential to be really cool!

I had a similar palette for holiday last year I think and had the same issues. The colors were just too sheer and had crazy fallout.

Also slightly related, did you pick up the Stila Breast Cancer Awareness travel palette? It’s pretty rad.
