Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Gold Shimmer Dust Review, Swatches, Photos

Yes, well, some of you may very well curl your nose up in disgust at the idea of a bottle of shimmer. But me and my army of shimmer minions fart in your general direction.

We like shimmer, we like sparkle, we eat it on our cornflakes in the morning. We plan to take over the world with our shimmery powers!

Jump!

A sparkling golden shimmer dust for body and hair!

If you’re lemming Guerlain Or Imperial Loose Powder but simply can’t justify the $85 price tag do check out Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity Gold Shimmer Dust for $39. Same effect, way lower price tag.

This comes housed in a vintage style perfume bottle with a puff. It mimics Guerlain’s Holiday powders all the way. For the past several years Guerlain has come out with several variations of sparkling powder in several shades and designs with it’s Holiday Collections. In recent years, many brands have mimicked this idea, you can add Sparklicity Gold Shimmer Dust to that list.

It’s gorgeous presentation wise and something you’ll fondly put atop your dresser since the packaging is so very pretty and feminine.

The bottle is home to loose, golden shimmer powder. This isn’t any shimmer powder peeps, this is SHIMMER powder. I mean I know shimmer but I gotta give Tarina an award here because her Sparklicity Powder is absurdly shimmery and full of cheery sparkle. It’s really stunning. I have the pink variation in the pot and it’s gorgeous but the gold is simply stunning.

Depressing the puff applicator gives a even burst of gold shimmer which you can mist onto shoulders, legs, arms, or into hair. If you’re daring you can go for the face however be prepared for a disco ball finish. If you want to get your money’s worth you can mist some on your finger and pat it gently onto your lids for a pretty sparkle.

Use your imagination and I’m sure you’ll find plenty of uses for it!

Love it, nothing bad to say!

  • Sparkle, shimmer, and glitter fans!
  • Anyone who likes pretty little makeup pieces (the bottle is gorgeous).

  • Sparkle, shimmer, or glitter haters!

I absolutely love this but count me bias since I’m such a hardcore fan of shimmer. The presentation of the bottle is lovely which makes it even more desirable to me plus the lovely powder inside doesn’t hurt.

Do you need it?

I’d like to think so if you’re as fond a fan as I am for shimmer however if you’re not you might not see the joy in this. It’s not an essential makeup item by any means and you may not even get full use out of it if you happen to be a shimmer-a-holic however it is a nice festive piece for the Holidays when sparkle is always in order.

What do you think?

Loves it?

Leaves it?

I’m picking up my traditional Guerlain spray next week, I collect it since ‘Midnight Butterfly’, so it’s a must-have, but I’ll give TT a try and order it as well!

Anna same here ;-D have this but still indulged in Guerlain’s version as well ;-D

I so envy you for owning the one from 2007, hahaha. They started with this stuff in 2007, right? Or did I miss out on another one?

        • the Muse

Anna, yup 2007 was the year they released the first gold one ;-D We are up to five variations now I believe? I was, at a time, purchasing two of them every year but I’ve since stopped. Obsessed much 🙁

Have you tried eBay? I wasn’t into Guerlain back then, but got my Gold one from 2007 from eBay. Wasn’t overpriced at all either.

This reminded me of Guerlain straight away. Just got mine, so pretty! Much bigger this year, 17 g instead of 10 g! Yay! 😀 Have you seen the Body Shop’s Sparler? Not quite as pretty as Guerlain, but still, it’s shimmer! 😉

Anita totally guerlain dupe ;-D I was impressed that it was bigger this year ;-D I DID I DID, did a post a few weeks ago about it but it’s not available here yet ;D

Have you tried the “Shiseido Maquillage Jewel Rich Gel”. Can one apply it on the eyelid? It’ s gold glitter gel. Probably for the face ‘n body.

    • the Muse

hi asuka not sure if it can be applied to the lid. I got this last year I believe? but never tried on my eyes since it was body/face.
