The Body Shop Smoke & Fire Collection Review, Swatches, Photos The Body Shop Fall 2010

I can’t believe how deep we are into Fall already. I feel like yesterday was Summer. Seriously, last week I had my AC on because it was so warm and this week I have my heat on because it’s so much cooler in the evening.

Nothing captured Fall this year for me like The Body Shop Smoke & Mirrors Collection. The face powder alone were enough to send me into fits of joy! Honestly, The Body Shop releases some killer limited edition sets and the new Smoke & Mirrors Collection for Fall 2010 happens to be one of this collections that has some incredible offerings that you should be hauling for a warm, Fall look.

With the Holidays in our face so incredibly quickly this year, it’s nice to step back and look at a bit of Fall.

Jump!

A selection of eyeshadows, face powder, liners, and lipsticks in rich, warm shades for the cooler Fall weather!

Of course, for me, the star of the collection are the new Fall Left Cheek and Face Powders. These are gorgeous, stunning, you must have them. One of the best things to be said about these powders is the beautiful design that runs straight through the powder. This isn’t an overspray and the design won’t fade away quickly with continued use so you not only have a beautiful piece of makeup but also a lasting design that’s gorgeous and pretty for whipping out of your purse for touch ups. The powder features a falling leaf design and is available in two shade selections Chestnut and Berry.

The powders work best with a lighter hand as they are heavily pigmented and apply with a liquid metallic effect. Chestnut, the warmer of the two, is my favorite as it has hints of bronze, orange, brown, and peach, pretty much mimics Fall leaves to perfection. It gives my face a very warm flush of color. Berry runs warmer as well with shades of pink, rose, and cranberry. The formula has a bit of a learning curve for application and blending but once you get a knack for it you’ll be thrilled with the overall results.

I opted to multitask the powders and use them not only as a blusher but also on my lids as an eyeshadow. They actually give my eyes a nice pop of color and create a richer, warmer Fall look.

There are a three shadows along with this release as well. I will say that the Peach shade is an absolutely must have. It’s the perfect shade of glimmering golden peach and pairs up brilliantly with the Chestnut powder. It’s easy to blend, highly pigmented, and can be used to create a casual or dressed up look! Seriously, get back ups, awesome shade! The other two shades lean towards the deeper, bolder realms. Midnight Blue and Velvet Green are both very strong, dark shades of color for a more smoky eye look.

And finally I tried out two of the three new shades of The Body Shop Lipstick in Rose Pink and Dusk Pink. Rose Pink is the nicer of the two as it’s a warm peachy rose shade where as Dusk Pink comes across as a more nude beige.

Midnight Blue and Velvet Green are a tad difficult to blend out however a sponge tip applicator does the trick. You have to be extra careful with the face powders and blend correctly with a lighter hand as they can easily be over done.

  • Anyone who loves warmer, richer shades for Fall.
  • Anyone who looks great in warm shades!
  • Anyone looking for a different

  • Anyone who favors cooler shades of color (most the collection leans towards warmer, richer hues so those who look best in cooler shades may not appreciate the collection).

This is by far one of very favorite collections this Fall. It really captures the theme of Autumn and brings it to life in beautiful shades of color for your face and eyes. Both face powders are essential items to purchase in my opinion, don’t miss them, they are unique and special pieces that ever makeup junkie can appreciate. The golden peach eyeshadow is another item that can easily warrant a back up for me and is unique enough to warrant a purchase!

I absolutely love the blush and bronzer. Great idea to use the bronzer on your lids too. It looks really pretty. The peach shadow looks a little bit like Stila’s Kitten shade from the pics but maybe not as shimmery? Do you think the two colors are pretty comparable or is the body shop shade totally different and I’m losing my mind? 🙂

    • the Muse

oh no no court totally diff from kitten. Really a golden peach ;-D SO pretty! Kitten is more beige pink champagne this is a golden peach ;-D

  • Inês

I only wanted the Chestnut powder, now I want both powders and the Peach eyeshadow. Curses!!!

  • LorraineER

I’m curious about Body Shop Lipstick. I can handle most formulas with proper prepping but my lips tend to be dry. Do you think they’d be a good choice for me?

    • the Muse

No Lorraine. Too dry if you’re already dry ;-D They aren’t as moisturizing as I’d like. Great color pay off, good formula that glides on, but not moisturizing or hydrating enough if you’re already dry. 😛 they have those slim line lippies, those are nicer and more hydrating 😀

  • Lisa

I agree with Phyrra, you look very pretty with the green shadow! Tks for the review! The peachy shade eyeshadow looks really nice.

  • shusheshe

    • the Muse

hi gio! long time no speak ;-D I just was reading your how to remove perfume article, very helpful ;-D

  • Ru

Love the face and cheek powders, that design makes me want to just buy it as a novelty item. And the colors can be taken into spring as well. But $21? Isn’t that a bit steep for blush from the body shop?

    • the Muse

I didn’t think so Ru ;-D Color, design, and packaging is fabulous. I don’t mind the 21 at all 😀

  • Nia

    Thanks for the swatches, Muse.

To be honest, I saw them in the store and was underwhelmed, sadly. I think I am in a makeup depression and just cannot be excited any more.

How are things with you? Have a great weekend.

    • the Muse

I’m great Nia you? ;-D thanks for asking! really?! this was probably the most exciting release for me this fall ;D but than again I heart fall!

  • Sun

Hi Muse! Do you think the Autumn Leaves face and cheek powders are similar to MAC’s 2009 holiday’s Conjure Up and Superdupernatural? I missed out last year (with sore regrets) and am wondering if this is my chance for redemption…

P.S. In Korea we also have the baked eyeshadows..

    • the Muse

hi sun! mmmm Not really?! These have an entirely different texture plus the colors are way deeper and richer hun.

Yea, I seen, SO jealous ;-D

  • mary allen

Actually Muse I’ve never tried any of those other brands. I just know that they are cheaper and many people use those brushes on YouTube. I couldn’t mind checking some of them out, but its not easily accessible to me since I’m living in Europe now. Plus, I really love MAC brushes, but I’ve stopped buying MAC brushes. I’m saving my money to buy Hakuhodo brushes. I heard that they are the best! So I want to try them out now. I randomly found your blog online. Lucky me!

    • the Muse

Hey Mary sorry for the delayed reply. ahhh!!!!!!! I see ;-D I tend to use MAC alot too but I should really expend my horizons a bit ;-D see what else is out there!!!!!!!!!
