Victoria’s Secret Midnight Glamour Luminous Highlighting Powder Review, Swatches, Photos

They’ll come a day or days in your makeup life when you have to admit to yourself that it’s all about the packaging and the presentation, not necessarily the actual makeup. If you’re in denial about this fact, it’s ok, we’ve all been there.

In the case of Victoria’s Secret Midnight Glamour Luminous Highlighting Powder, it’s all about the packaging and presentation and sadly not so much about the actual makeup and lucky enough I’m not in denial about this.

Phew!

I’m willingly to admit the powder isn’t what caught my eye first nor will it be what holds my attention long after.

Jump!

A limited edition highlighting powder in soft dusty shades of rose and pink.

Well, props to Vicky for creating a gorgeous powder. This gets aces for both packaging and presentation.

The powder is housed in a heavy, substantial palette with a gorgeous crystal jewel face place. This has some nice weight behind it for it’s near budget price tag of $16 bucks. Inside you get a full size mirror and a beautiful shimmering powder embossed with stars. Lucky enough there isn’t any overspray and the star design should last well into several uses or more.

The powder itself is a finely milled lighter shade of dusty rose with a smaller portion reserved for a soft almost white shade of pink.

As I said props for presentation and packaging but the actual powder isn’t so fabulous. The powder feels nice enough texture wise but it lacks pigmentation and is very subtle. The finish isn’t that of a sparkle or a shimmer but leans towards frost which isn’t any great surprise as Victoria’s Secret seems to favor frost in many of their LE palettes such as this however I, for one, hate a frosty finish on my face!

I admit I was slightly disappointed about the lack of pigmentation but that didn’t bother me nearly as much as the problems I had trying to get my brush to pick up product. A kabuki will serve well since I can swirl and tap but I’m not wanting that much of this powder on myself so a fan brush or a bushy brush of some sort would be most favorable for application but sadly the powder doesn’t seem to like either and a few swipes in and I can barely pick enough product to do a single side of my face.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing I guess since over doing highlighter isn’t recommended and this prevents that from happening however I did wish it kicked up a bit of product.

  • Anyone who loves beautiful powders!
  • Anyone who adores gorgeous packaging!
  • Anyone who loves pretty makeup!

  • Anyone wanting pretty AND functional makeup (this sadly lacks a bit in the formula department but pretty? Hells yes!)

I’m very happy and pleased to have this in my collection however I wish the formula was a bit better but I’m shallow enough to over look it and proceed to gush myself silly about how gorgeous it is. Victoria’s Secret did a stupendous job on this collection and it really packs a mighty punch into such a tiny price tag. The powder needs a little work but it’s not completely bad and I’m going to throw it out there and say, hey, if you’re a makeup junkie, buy it! It’s too gorgeous not to own.

Sometimes you have to take one for the team. It’s not like it’s really any great chore owning ANOTHER pretty powder right?

LOVE the packaging….I adore VS makeup, but haven’t seen this collection. YET. I do like the Bombshell collection for the packaging more than anything. 🙂
