mark Rock the Box for Holiday 2010

I really feels like this is the year of the palette. So many brands have gone out of their way to give us some really great deals on some killer palettes and it’s really difficult to settle on just one. That need to collect them all is very real for makeup junkies.

Mark’s Holiday Collection started off a tad slow but they are adding a few other items as the Holiday approaches, one of which is their innovative Rock the Box Palette. Nope, it doesn’t contain 200 eyeshadows, 10 blushes, and a partridge in a pear tree, sorry guys. It does however bring to the table a very interesting idea for a palette.

Let’s take a look at the Mark Rock the Box Palette and a few other offerings from the brand for the Holiday Season!

Jump!

Take a perfectly normal box. Slap it in metallic bronze fabric and allow it to flip open on all sides to reveal four eyeshadows and two lips shades plus a place to store brushes, mascara, etc…as you apply makeup, and you’ll have the new mark Rock the Box Palette.

Interesting?

Innovative?

Unique?

Definably in my opinion.

It could prove a bit bulky to use if you’re one for applying makeup in your bathroom mirror however if you have a good size vanity in your washroom or some sort of makeup vanity in your bedroom, it could also prove handy.

The novelty definately is the design but I can’t help but think the storage bin also makes it an interesting pick. Fold down the sides for the makeup and tuck your brushes in the enclosed cup for easy storage as you do your face. Pretty darn cool right?

The palette comes in two options.

What do you think of the new Mark Rock the Box?

I was kinda loving the idea but not sure I really like the colors included in the selections. It would be cool if they let you choose the colors like they do with some of their other custom palettes.

I wasn’t too blown away by the rock the box. I already have the eyeshadow colors included so I didn’t bother ordering it. It is a really good deal though if you don’t already have the products. For being lower priced brushes, they are actually of a pretty good quality and I have all the mark brushes and the gold case. I use all of them on a daily basis. I recommend the brush set over the rock the box palette.

I like the packaging and the idea but the shades didn’t do much for me Sarah 🙁 thanks for the rec on the brush set ;-D

  • Kimberly

It’s a cute idea, but you’re right Muse, I didn’t care for the shades at al either. I’d like to see it with more shadows, a lip palette, a blusher & bronzer.

  • Jasmine

Well, drop the box and the shadows break. Cute idea, but maybe they should’ve taken that into consideration :/

    • the Muse

hi jasmine true but that’s the case with alot of palettes, some are really large and bulky this year so that could really happen with any palette 🙂

I was considering ordering this but then I thought the storage cup may not be so useful after all. . . are you able to close the “wings” of the palette section with brushes, etc. in the cup? Or, in order to get the “wings” closed do you need the top of the box to hold the “wings” in? I hope that made sense . . .

    • the Muse

I don’t believe you can close it with the items in the cup Valerie, they’d have to be removed from the cup and than you can fold it back into its box form.

  • Alexis

You can close all three side flaps and leave the top lid open so you can leave the contents in the cup but if you want it to be a real box, you’ll need to remove the contents from the cup. Like PP said, would be great if we can customize the colors but the idea is good.
