Napoleon Perdis Great Escapes Brush Set for Holiday 2010 Review, Photos

I’m getting Swept Away with the Napoleon Perdis Holiday Collection 2010. The collection celebrates all things tropical so you aren’t getting a traditional Christmas Collection here but one with a warm vibe.

The new Great Escapes Brush Set features an aquatic blue travel case and 8 travel friendly brushes.

Let’s have a look!

A travel size selection of Napoleon Perdis’ brushes housed in a zippered makeup bag.

This is a nice selection of brushes that includes a foundation brush, concealer brush, powder brush, slanted eye shadow brush, eye blender brush, lip liner brush, eye liner brush and a brow brush/lash comb.

The brushes are soft, nicely sized (they aren’t mini but more medium size), and do not shed. They come in a flat sized makeup bag which zippers all the way around. It’s a nice set however….

Like last year’s collection of brushes I felt it was a bit too high in the price department. The set ranges a little less than $10 per brush ($79 for the complete set) but I can’t help but wince slightly at that price. The brushes don’t feel like they are worth such a high end price tag particularly when other sets for the Holidays are considerably cheaper.

  • Anyone who likes the Napoleon Perdis brand (fans of the brand may love this).

  • Anyone looking for more for less (this is a bit on the high end. Broken down it’s quite cheap per a brush but at $79 for the complete set I feel like it’s a tad on the expensive side).

The brush set is quite nice however shaving off around $30 would set the price tag considerably lower and way more friendly in my opinion. These are nice brushes however there are even nicer ones for alot less available around the Holidays. Not such a bad set but the price needs a little work.

    Hi Muse,

Can you recommend other brush sets that you like? Hopefully for a little lower of a price tag? I’m looking for like a beginners set. I don’t have many brushes.

    Thanks!
    Kelly

Hi Kelly I always like the MAC Holiday Selection. good price, great brushes imho 🙂

      • Kristen

You are the only person to say the MAC holiday brushes are good. I wanted to buy a set from the Tartan Tale but everyone was saying “theyre crap don’t buy them”

        • the Muse

Hi Kristen I’ve always felt they were a great deal. NOT as good as full size but not bad either! I hear alot about how crap they are but I literally have dozens of the brush sets and have always liked them 🙂

I have to agree totally with Muse about the Mac Holiday Brush Sets.
They are great. I’ve a couple of sets and they are definitely worth the money.
I’ve most of the full size Mac brushes and the Holiday Brush Sets are almost the same quality especially the eye brushes (IMHO) !!

Mary agreed ;-D I really love the holiday sets. The tartan sets weren’t as great as years past but for the most part I think you get a nice bang for your buck with mac ;D

aww man now I wish that I got them! Even if it was just for review purposes. I think the people who are so opposed to them are used to full sizes, and I understand they’re not the same quality, but I still want to try them. I think the best way to know a product is to actually try it 🙂

absolutely Kristen!!!!!!!!!!! go to a counter and just have a feel for them ;-D I think you can decide just by looking at them and holding them in your hand ;-D

  • Jessica

Second on the MAC Holiday Selection! I’m too embarrassed to admit how long I’ve had some of my MAC brushes.
Thanks for the review! I kept eyeing these but said to myself, Do I really need more brushes? since I bought the Tarina Tarantino set last week.

    • the Muse

Jessica so jealous what’s the TT set like? ;-D I love the mac sets. I just think they are a good deal! ;-D I’m the same, do I really NEED more brushes?! ;D

  • Catherine

&9$ for a set that include a spong tip applicator!?! Are you kidding me?

  • Jessica

Muse, the TT brush set is quite nice. Ususally things so “cutesy” like that are typically poor quality, or more for looks but the brushes are really great. I’ve been using them a lot lately. My Stila and MAC brushes are getting lonely.

Hey guys! If anyone is still interested in these brushes they are on Hautelook today for $29! I just picked up the teal one.
