Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls Blush Review, Swatches, Photos

Has anyone tried the Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls? I’ve stayed away from them for a while now because I feared they’d apply to frosty. I can’t dig the frost.

Recently, I came across the new Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls Blush and was pretty skeptical since they looked pretty frosty too. The original Glow Pearls were a highlighter type of powder where as this version is a blusher. Looking at them I was absolutely gasping for breath because pretty is an understatement. They are really pretty pieces of makeup that can get a beauty junkies panties in a twist. However, my logical side whispered in my ear about how they would probably apply frosty so I sat at the display for a quarter of an hour debating if I needed them or not. After a few more minutes went by I decided I’d just try one color and after ten more minutes went buy I walked out of the store with both colors they had.

Did I like them?

Did they apply frosty?

I’ll tell you next week!

Ha, only kidding!

Jump ahead to find out!

A gorgeous, glowing blusher!

These come housed in an elegant mirrored case with a cute little pearl decoration on the lid. The compact is a flip top design that features a stealthy little compartment under the blush that hides a brush and full size mirror.

Much to my utter delight and surprise they apply like an absolute dream. I kinda think of Valentine’s Day when I look at them for some reason. The delicate swirls of pink give me a warm, fuzzy romantic vibe. It’s such a flirty, girlish piece of makeup!

My drugstore only had two shades but I’m hopeful that Physicians Formula has more in the works for these. The shades I got were Natural Pearl (Pinky Peach) and Rose Pearl (Rosy Pink). Physicians Formula dubs Natural Pearl a natural glow and Rose Pearl a rosy glow. The shades are crazy pigmented and have a glow-y finish which isn’t frosty or shimmery, as per the description, it’s a rosy or peachy-like glow depending the shade you use. They’ll probably work best on fair to medium complexions but darker tones might get a good build up of color using a kabuki brush. Both shades give my cheeks a gently flushed look that’s very pretty, girlish, and youthful!

As with most Physicians Formula compacts, the brush included is rubbish. It’s a very scratchy brush that sheds horribly. Not good. Wish they could improve on this.

Packaging is wicked ace however it does easily get fingermarks on it since the backside and some of the front is a mirror finish.

  • Anyone who loves fresh shades of pink or peach!
  • Anyone who loves pretty makeup (these are so gorgeous to look at!).
  • Anyone who works flushed cheeks well!
  • Anyone looking for a blush to give a glow of color to cheeks and face!

  • Anyone who can’t wear cooler shades of blush so well!

These get a very big Muse Approval from me. You NEED these! I paid $8 each thanks to a $2 coupon on the box which I used during check out however you can easily get them cheaper I’m sure considering the brand is always on sale at CVS. The blushes are absolutely stunning little budget pieces that have a fantastic formula! I was delighted with both to say the least!

WANT! These are the kind of blushes that always work well on me…and they look gorgeous in the package too. I’ll have to pick one up!

  • Zombii

Blush?? No way!! I have the mineral glow pearls (http://www.amazon.com/Powder-Palette-Mineral-Glow-Pearls/dp/B0041BRMT6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1289523783&sr=8-3 – this is the medium skin version, I’ve got the lightest) and -a love it! Yes, it looks over the top shimmer-bomb in the package, but I’ve not had any issues looking like glitter exploded on my face. Just pure, beautiful glow. I really wish someone with the Guerlain pearl thingie (you know, the ass expensive one in the beautiful tin?) would review it side-by-side with the Physician’s Formula one.

Mine was an even better deal because I bought it when CVS had Physician’s formula compacts for $5.99 (and “compact” pretty much covered anything in a circle container with a lid. I got a replacement spf50 foundation for that price too!) and I had a $3.00 off manufacturer’s coupon. Yes!

Anyway, all that ramble was just excitement from seeing there are blush versions of the glowy powder! I’m so happy!

And, yes, the brush that comes with it is ass. But to be fair, I’ve never had a brush come with anything and be decent. That’s why we all have nice brushes purchased on their own, right? :p

  • Stephanie L.

These look lovely! I may have to pick one up.

I just got the Wet n’ Wild train case with the mini makeup that you recommened. Super cute! Thanks : )

  • Brooke

Ah! Thanks so much for doing a review on these! I always stop by the PF section every time I’m at Wal Mart and these always catch my eye…however, I can’t bring myself to pay $11 for them. I always think well if I pay that much, I might as well go buy something at Sephora or MAC….that way I can at least try the product and not be out $$$. I may have to check them out!

    • the Muse

Omg I want! Thanks so much for reviewing these, I always pass them over during sales precisely because I think they’ll be frosty. I can’t wait for Physician’s Formula to be 40% off again! And those heart blushes are calling to me too!

  • Lara

I love the lightest shade of the original glow pearls as a highlighter under my eyes to conceal dark circles. I bet I will love these as well. The colors are so pretty!

  • Elena

When I saw them, i thought “drugstore version of the compact Guerlain Meteorites”. This ones look gorgeous!

  • katrosado5

Thanks so much for reviewing these! I always have a glance at them but was afraid they would be too much shimmer. I’m going to pick up the peach next time I head over to our local Longs Drugs. (CVS owns them). 😀

    • the Muse

katros same here. They look scary frosty in the compacts but apply dreamy ;D

  • ash

I have to ask what are you wearing on your lips? The color is absolutely gorgeous and it looks so pretty on you!!
The blushes look great as well! thank you for this post 🙂

  • Mary the Muse Militant

You look very glowy today Muse !
Those compacts are fab – love the bubbles and love the hidey hole underneath.
This brand is hard to find in England but I heard Selfridges do it.
That’s Selfridges in Oxford St., London and not sure about other 2 or 3 Selfridges dotted around the country.
Next time I’m down Oxford St., I’ll definitely have a look at their counter/stand.
Again, you look fab in the photo.
Btw, my wallet doesn’t like Muse 😉 !!!

    • the Muse

why thank you miss Mary ;-D xoxox! Are you sure Selfridges carries the line!? whoa! Crazy ;-D If anything you can prob get it off e-bay as well 🙂 Aw thanks you’re too kind! Ha ;-D my wallet doesn’t like me at all! never mind you ;-D

      • Mary the Muse Militant

Not totally sure if Selfridges do it – only some info that I came across on some forum somewhere.
I’ll get in there soon hopefully and will keep an eye on ebay too !

        • the Muse

hey mary! I was shocked to hear it, I wonder if your source is right ;-D good luck!!!!!!!!!

  • Andrea

Wow, that looks sooo pretty on your cheeks! I’m sold! I’m also going to look for those heart powders in January…too cute!

  • Robin

The Rose is gorgeous on you! I’ve been saving an Ulta coupon but didn’t know what to use it on….this seals the deal!

  • Hana

  • S

    Hi Muse!
How do these compare to the Happy Booster blushes of the same name? Do I need these when I’m loving the HB ones? Thanks for any feedback!

    • the Muse

S I actually LIKE these alot more than Happy Booster 🙂 these have a really lovely glow about them. If you can buy both, go with both ;-D if not go with these if you want a glow-y blush and go with the happy booster if you want a more semi-matte finish with alot of pop!

      • S

Wow, thanks for the quick and awesome feedback! I’m going to CVS right now to see if they’re there!

        • the Muse

my pleasure S! 🙂 they are all perm so if you wait you can maybe get a BOGO?

          • S

They didn’t have it nor any of the new stuff so will def wait for BOGO! Thanks again 🙂

          • the Muse

my pleasure s! check out bed bath and beyond’s beauty section if your lemming is SUPER strong ;D!

  • S

I haven’t been there in ages, do they all have beauty sections now? I saw them at Rite-Aid but I was hoping to use that $3 off a $10 purchase at CVS!

    • the Muse

YES A HUGE ONE S ;-D or at least the ones in new York do ;-D But sadly they only offer a $3 coupon but if you go to their website they have the 20% off email coupon for signing up for their newsletter or some such thing. You can always unsubscribe later ;D!
