Chanel Les Tentations de Chanel Holiday 2010 Review, Swatches, Photos
Ahh Chanel spicing things up this year with their Les Tentations de Chanel Holiday Collection 2010. It doesn’t quite meet the traditional standards in our Holiday makeup world does it?
Delicate shades of brown, pops of pink, and hints of bronze make up Chanel Holiday 2010 and one gets more of a vibe of Spring than Holiday at first glance. But try it out for size and flushed cheeks and a fierce smoky brown eye later and you’ll agree this does indeed speak the language of Winter.

Chocolate shades of shadow and pops of pink for cheeks, makeup a Wintery Holiday Collection from Chanel!
One of my favorite pieces in the collection is the Chanel Les 4 Ombres in Tentation Cuivre. The formula varies from quad to quad and Tentation Cuirve is testimony to that with a baked formula and soft, shimmering finish. The shadows all apply dreamy and includes shades of copper brown, light beige, shimmering pink, and plum copper. The pink and beige really add brightness to the eye area beautifully where as the coppery brown and plum add definition and richness. The look is far from dramatic but leans towards being soft yet rich. Pigmentation is very delicate but still allows good buildablity.
Chanel Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Fuchsia Pink is another favorite piece for me. It’s probably the most exciting shade I own in the Tweed Blush Collection and lends a certain sizzle to the subtle eyes that the quad creates. The color is a popping shade of pink with a very faint sparkle. It’s really a gorgeous shade and very much a keeper!
Chanel Glossimer in Charming and Pink Pulsion complete the look beautifully particularly Pink Pulison which rounds up the coolness of the look. Gently flushed cheeks, delicate brown lids, and just the right pop of pink on lips completes that just in from the cold look! Pleasing Gold brings the look into the realms of being more warm and might I add interesting since you now have two complete looks that can either work as a cool or a warm finish! Happy Days!
And finally Chanel Rouge Coco in Magnolia a soft pink and Patchouli a warm cooper. Again, we have a cool versus warm for lips which I find very interesting as you can easily multitask your look. I can wear either warm or cool shades however those who prefer one over the other can customize the Chanel Holiday Collection to suit their best shades.
Needless to say most of the products need no introduction or rave from me. The Glossimers are always some of the best glosses I’ve tried and have had the pleasure of owning with a beautifully glossy formula that’s lightweight and wears comfortable. The same goes for the Rouge Coco which glide onto lips easily and wear well and long.
Some shades probably can’t be pulled off by everyone such as Charming and Magnolia which lean more towards the realms of nude. I do find that Magnolia paired up with Pink Pulsion makes it easier to wear.
The only thing that failed to work for me was the Ombre D’eau in Splash. This is a rather great shade of taupe which I was excited about but for some reason didn’t blend correctly. Anyone have issues?
- Anyone who loves beautiful, high end makeup!
- Anyone who wears cool shades well (this has some very gorgeous shades of cool pink with a pop!).
- Anyone wanting to veer away from the well walked path of silver, gold, red lips, and smoky eyes for the Holidays (this is an entirely unique color selection for the Holidays).
- Anyone unwilling to indulge or invest in high end makeup (Chanel cosmetics are sadly not in the realms of those watching their beauty budget).
The collection isn’t your traditional Holiday Collection but still manages to give me the vibe of Winter! It can easily work on but cool and warm tones and creates a perfectly polished festive look that hints at the whimsical side of makeup.
Some pieces are very worth picking up particularly the quad and blush!
