Covergirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm Review, Swatches, Photos

What’s the word on the street kids? Have you seen the Covergirl NatureLuxe Collection at your local drugstore yet? I seen one display but didn’t take a chance to explore it yet as I was rushing in one door and out the other on a Cadbury Dairy Milk run. Did you ever notice Dairy Milks taste all kinda of rancid purchased outside of England. Gag me. But hey when you’re in need, you’re in need!

Anyway!

Covergirl NatureLuxe officially launches this January so you should be seeing more and more displays at your drugstore soon. I recently tried out and adored the foundation. If you tried it, do spread the cheer (or not), curious whatcha you think of it!

Let’s have a look at the Covergirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm.

Jump!

A new Gloss Balm which leaves out select heavier emollients for natural mango, shea and other butters which are lighter, more luxurious-feeling alternatives.

The Covergirl NatureLuxe Collection, is a luxury makeup line that exchanges select heavier synthetics for carefully-chosen natural ingredients. It isn’t an organic line in the traditional sense but it does leave out many harsher ingredients for a more “natural-like” formula.

I think many people will wonder how the Gloss Balms compare to the regular Covergirl Lip Slicks personally I think the Natureluxe Gloss Balms run a little sheerer and a bit lighter on the lips.

These are pretty sheer but they leave a subtle touch of color on lips and some even run a bit more pigmented such as the shade Cinnamon which reminds me of MAC Slimshine in Lovey Dovey (my fav!). They smooth on beautifully with a formula that has a high shine. They do feel a little bit waxy but I find application and reapplication smooths the formula out and gives it more of a glossy finish. They hydrate drier lips quite nicely and wear considerably long for a balm. The slim swivel up design travels well and is perfect for touch ups on the go.

They sport an SPF 15 so if you’re all about sun protection in your lip balm this brings it!

I tried four shades but there are 16 available so you’re looking at quite a bit of variety! Shades I tried were Hibiscus (Mauve-y Rose, applies with decent color pay off), Cinnamon (Bronze-y Copper, applies with a good deal of pigment), Marble (Baby Pinky, Peach, applies sheer with little no color pay off), and Grenahce (Dusky Mauve, applies sheer with no color pay off).

Price wise for a balm might they might be a tad high at $6.49 but I honestly don’t think that’s too much of a splurge!

  • Anyone who likes a more natural, lightweight makeup for their lips!
  • Chronic lip application appliers (you know who you are, I’m a member of that fan club) will rejoice in tucking this into their desk drawer or makeup bag!

  • Anyone who wants a pigmented lip balm (these run more sheer although some do display a good pop of color depending on your shade choice).

Overall, NatureLuxe Gloss Balm should appeal to those who like a more natural lip look that’s lightweight sans the heavier feel of sticky lipglosses or heavy lipsticks. They make a nice treat for light makeup or for tucking into your purse or desk drawer for quickie touch ups throughout the day when you’re not wanting to drag out an arsenal to do your lip look.

Natureluxe Gloss Balm will be guest starring at drugstores shortly in January 2011 or some drugstores already have displays out so keep your eyes peeled.

Will you indulge?

These reminded me a LOT of CG’s Lip Blush. Might be a little before your time but they were in packaging the exact same shade of green. Originally they were different colors but then they changed to Light, Medium, & Deep in Cream or Frost (I think there was a cream or frost option). I can’t find a pic unfortunately.

Hopefully these take a long time (like forever) coming to my neck of the woods because this is something I would buy in every shade. And I need that like a hole in the head…

sjg I don’t even know what lip lush is but sounds gorg, I hadn’t heard of those until you mentioned them!? maybe we didn’t get them in the US.

      • SJG

No, I’m in the US :). This was just a LOOOOOONG time ago (like early 90s long).

This is how I know I’m old, I just saw Revlon is coming out with “Custom Eyes” and that’s the same name as a customizable palette they had back in the 80s!

The CG Lip Blush was my most favorite lip product ever! That is too funny to hear someone else mention it. I remember I accidentally washed a tube that was in my jeans and was devastated. I’ve not come across a lip product yet that can compare, but these look awesome and will try one out soon. I’m one of the lip balm addicts that has a tube in every room, purse, apron at work, and so on.

I’m soooo happy to see that I wasn’t the only person who fell in love with CoverGirl InCondition LipBlush. I was so heart broken when they discontinued this item. I went out and purchased all that I could buy before they completely disappeared. This was almost 20 years ago, so needless to say, I have used them all and have never found anything comparable. I have written Covergirl a couple of times pleading for them to start producing this product again. The Naturelux in no where near as good as the Lip Blush. The Lip Blush actually made your teeth look whiter and I felt like it plumped my lips a bit also.

I remember the old school lip blush! They were alot thicker and totally remind me of this product! I like the luxe more because they fit into your pocket and SPF 15, so good for the summer:) and they smell good!

I saw these in Rite-aid and was mighty tempted, but I am saving my pennies for Stylishly Yours and a mall run with my bestie.

  • xxreemey

I saw these at wal-mart the other day, but ignored them because i was trying to find some hard candy stuff to use as stocking stuffers, but I will probably garb a few on my next trip. Hibiscus looks cute, and sortof natural-y, does that make sense? 😀

    • the Muse

Hi rose I don’t normally do lip swatches, I’m not so handy with the camera when doing close ups of my eye or lips. Plus I’m using a digi so the shots don’t come out brilliantly.

  • LorraineER

Yay!! Thank you for this review. I just got a set of Korres Lip butters and glosses so I think I can pass…for now at least. If they were more pigmented I’d have a harder time holding back!

    • the Muse

my pleasure lorraine I know you were eager to hear the word ;-D love the lip butters!!!!!!! ;D

  • Broadway

It seems that the Lip Slicks all have some hidden shimmer in them, but it looks like Cover Girl’s moved away from that with these Gloss Balms. I’ll deff have to give it a try!

  • Karrie

I want to try these. I’ll probably wait for a sale when they become available.

  • neutralgirl

I am so excited for them to come to my store! I def want the two darker ones u showed! Oh, hi by the way, I have been visiting your site for while but this is my first time commenting. If u say the foundation is good as well I will have to try that too, because i don’t always want full coverage.

    • the Muse

hi neutral girl good to meet you! *waves* I think you’ll love the foundation, I thought it was lovely. When you try, comment, wanna hear whatcha think!

  • Mar

I love lip balm but its important to me that the ingredients stay as natural as possible since i ussualy eat my lipgloss because im constantlt licking my lips! Haha

  • Ludwig

    I just picked up #265 Sandstone today! It’s such a gorgeous colour! It’s like a peachy-pink : ) It also smells amazing!

  • mon

Ahh I’m so excited for the release! I’m a constant lip balm applier so these sound fantastic. Thank you so much for the review! And 16 colors, wooo, I’m looking forward to that.

  • Mary the Muse Militant

Ah Muse, you and your chocolate !
Cadbury’s chocolate takes even yummier and creamier in Ireland than in England. Must be the better class of cows grazing on the lush green fields 🙂

    • the Muse

ha mary ;-D I agree, Cadbury Roses always taste extremely creamier from Ireland than England ;-D!

  • Tigress

I bought this in Hibiscus and I really like it. Plus, it smells just like the Bonnie Bell Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker. 🙂

  • tiffany miranda

i have one in coral and it is extremely pigmented! its so pigmented that i used it as a lip balm and put it under Mac’s Faux lipstick and you could see the shade peeking through! but around my area for 9$ :[ wahh. too expensive for my taste

  • Bridgette

I spotted these little things at Albertsons and was so tempted. I’m SO grateful that you swatched Hibiscus, because that’s the shade I was leaning towards ;D They seem to be my type of lip product, I think I will have to snatch one up while CG products are 20% off at Albertsons!

    • the Muse

good luck Bridgette hope they work for you when you grab ’em!

  • Scotti

i have the ones in grenache, clay, marble, and tulip. I like them because they have the moisture of a balm with the color and shine of a gloss.
