Lush Dr. Peppermint Shampoo Bar Review, Photos

In my freshman year of high school I went to our Halloween bash dressed as the Demon. No worries, I wasn’t alone, Starchild, Catman, and Spaceman were all my wingwomen. Actually there was a little bickering involved about who would be the Starchild, you know, I’ve always wanted to be Paul Stanley when I grew up…but I figured Gene Simmons was the next best thing.

Needless to say the costumes didn’t go over big with the nuns at our private catholic girl’s high school but we had fun none the less. Till this day KISS still rocks my adult life, my sister says I was born in the wrong era….

Moral of the story? Couldn’t help but hum Dr Love as I was washing my hair this morning with a little Lush Dr Peppermint thus my KISS reference eh?

The Doctor is in….

A solid shampoo bar with a crisp, cool peppermint scent!

Lush dubs this a bar for baldies ha! I’m not going bald thankfully but I use it regardless as it’s also for all hair types, long, short, dry, oily….What draws me to it is the cool, crisp peppermint scent plus the fact that it clarifies my hair extremely well and gets it squeaky clean sans build up!

What’s a shampoo bar?

Unfamiliar with shampoos are you? There Lush’s idea to a travel friendly, easy to use bar of soap in a shampoo format. Shaped like a hockey puck you simply wet this guy up and slide him across the top of your head one or two times and proceed to lather up with your hands. Nifty eh? Less waste in the bottle and packaging department too!

These are nifty for travel as Lush actually gives you a free tin to store them in if you buy two or more bars. Slip one in a tin and go on Holiday or overnight to your boyfriend’s pad, etc…..You can even multitask ’em as soap if you want although I suggest for hair only (kinda squeamish about using a bar on my body and proceed to use it on my hair, dig?).

My hair is pretty dry, long, wavy, curly, and crazy hard to manage which is one reason I prefer wearing it up and out of my face. Dr. Peppermint does well as a twice a week shampoo for my type of hair since it clarifies well but also dries out my hair a bit too so if you’re oily you might want to consider it to tame such a problem!

No bad here, just joy!

  • Anyone wanting a travel friendly shampoo (TSA can’t bitch about this).
  • Anyone wanting to remove build up and clarify hair (this does a super job of getting your hair squeaky clean).
  • Anyone who loves the scent of sweet peppermint!

  • Anyone who prefers a liquid shampoo (the novelty is def the fact that this is solid).

I’m a great lover of Lush Shampoo Solids and Dr. Peppermint is a fav. I love the crisp, cooling sensation on my scalp and feel it does a damn good job of getting my grungy hair back in order again! If you’re aren’t a fan of peppermint, Lush makes several other solids in various scents for various hair care needs. I’ve been a fan of Dr. Peppermint for a LONG time and happy to say that its been Retro Lush’ed for the past year or so. Which means you can grab it anytime you like even though it was discontinued for ages!

Wow I’ve been out of the Lush loop lately, I went in yesterday to pick up Christmas presents and that’s about it!

I MUST give this one a go! Sounds fab!

  • nicoletta

I really like the lush shampoo bars but not tried this one yet. Thanks for the review x

  • Stephanie

This is one of the few Lush shampoo bars I haven’t tried. I am definitely a shampoo bar freak though! I currently have Karma Komba, Godive and Irresistable Bliss (My favorite!) in my shower right now.

    • the Muse

oh noes stephanie karma is on my most hated list hehe ;-D but love be some Godiva ;D!

      • Stephanie

I could take Karma or leave it. It’s not on my favorites list but I also don’t hate it. My dad, however, is obsessed, so for Christmas I got him an entire round of it!

        • the Muse

ha Stephanie! I get dirt and oranges from it girl ;-D But I can see why your dad likes it, it’s a more masculine blend for sure compared to some of Lush’s other scents ;D!

  • Audrey

I actually work at LUSH now and I picked up Godiva for myself and Soak n Float for my boyfriend with my discount a few days ago (along with… *cough* just a *few* other things… nothing much…). I love love loooove the scent of Godiva!
I was a LUSHie before but now that I work there and have gotten to try out so many things and learn about them, I’m definitely a cultist now!

    • the Muse

fantastic audrey! did you try lust solid perfume yet? smells JUST like godiva ;D! ha I’m the leader of the cult hehe!

  • Jeannine

I really need a Lush Trip – I’m wondering how their after Christmas sale is going to be this year – I always snag some great things.

I love the shampoo pucks and peppermint so I will HAVE to try this one!

  • Tasha

A Lush SA gave me a great tip about those – if you keep the bar in the lid of the tin, it will melt into place, and make it easier to use every last bit. Also, if you use the bottom as a base and set the bar in the lid facing up when you’re done, it gets a chance to dry between uses, making it last longer.

    • the Muse

hi tasha great tip. I normally dry it out using a soap saver and pop it into the tin when it’s fully dry ;-D

  • rachel

looks interesting and I love peppermint but every time I look at that I can’t help but thing that thing looks like mealworms, I’m sorry for that visual but here’s hoping they change the design!

  • breyerchic04

New! is my favorite, and it’s also for the same purpose (I allso am not losing my hair!) but I love the cinnamon scent. I’ll have to give this one a try.

  • Beverly

I love these bars. I will have to try this one but New is great with the cinnamon- def a winter showering staple. Warms you right up!

    • the Muse

hey beverly all for new ;-D it’s a fav of mine too and perfect for winter ;D!

  • purpleladyfa
