MAC Cham Pale Review, Swatches, Photos

Anyone get a vibe of MAC Warm & Cozy from the new Cham Pale Color Collection? Of course, it’s warm and cozy with nipples included….love that promo image dontcha? Oh stop now, I got dozens of e-mails and comments after that promo shot was posted with, “OMG Muse I see her nipple” it was like we were all teenage boys for a sec there although I do comfortably channel my own teenage boy on more days than I care to count….We all got two of ’em ourselves but for some odd reason we were fascinated that MAC went THERE. Think they’ll airbrush it out of the shot when it goes live in stores? Can’t have kids passing by a MAC store and saying, “Look mommy that lady has her nipple hanging out…” Heaven forbid!

No but seriously for some reason I get a bit of the Warm & Cozy vibe going on with Cham Pale this year perhaps that’s where some of my excitement stems from. I do believe, although paler and fairer, this collection might just sport a little something for every skin tone. I was playing around with a few pieces and so far I’m impressed and every so eager for its official launch on Boxing Day! ‘elloooooooooo MAC store Gift Certificate come to mama (yes, my friends and family can’t fool me, I know what I’m getting from Santa).

Go on now let’s peek at MAC Cham Pale and see what I thought!

Hello, my name is the Muse and I’m a great hater of MAC Paint Pots.

Yeah, well, don’t shoot me. Sorry, I was never really a fan but the good news is in recent years I’ve come to enjoy the occasional Paint Pot or two. Blame Fafi for MAC as I think that’s what turned me on to them to begin with as some of the shades were my makeup life’s regret when I didn’t original haul them with the release and proceeded to run amok on E-bay trying to find them all. I also blame my friend Lilan (shout out to the Daily Cookie) for telling me way back when HOW could I NOT own the Fafi Paint Pots, was I mad?! Indeed, I must have been!

Moral of the story is I now tolerate MAC Paint Pots and the ones with Cham Pale?

You need ’em.

I only played with two shades but already I’m in love. Chilled on Ice is a frosty white gold as dubbed by MAC but I get elements of a golden white peach with hints of the palest pink. It’s STUNNING. Truly one for the haul people.

Dangerous Curve is a frosty cool gray with elements of graying grape and blue. It too is equally gorgeous.

Two other shades will be available which I haven’t had the chance to lay my greedy hands on but damn straight they shall be mine!

I also checked out the MAC Cham Pale Collection Special Reserve Highlight Powder and was pretty delighted. I don’t do highlighters so well but these impart a very soft focused glow on face and cheeks and pretty much will flatter all skin tones. I think olive and darker skin tones will absolutely love the glow it’ll give to cheeks. It does have fine shimmer in the mix but I felt like it has a healthier overspray of such which quickly swiped away to a more subtle glow. Chez Chez is a soft gold with silver shimmer that comes across golden beige on my skin and Rose Ole Soft is a delicate golden pink with gold shimmer. Both are must haves and keepers in my opinion. Although the design does resembled wrinkled up paper, don’t let it sway you from indulging, they are truly stunning pieces. Plus that Chez Chez name has me thinking Chaz Bono thoughts, shudder!

So far Cham Pale is promising to say the least. For paler girls you’ll find these products impart an ethereal glow and for those with darker skin you’ll find they highlight and accentuate places on your face and eyes very well.

What will you haul from Cham Pale?

ah! so jealous that you got you’re hands on this collection! I love MAC but normally don’t obsess about release dates….however this one is in my blackberry calender with a reminder alarm! I will have those highlighters…I was considering the eyeshadow quad but not quite sold on that yet.

    • the Muse

hey peacelovepanic can’t blame your lemmings, this seems like a good color release to me ;-D got a review of the quad shortly, or a mini one as is ;-D

  • Kelly M

I really want the highlighters but I don’t like the wrinkled paper look. I might get them anyways they look really pretty. Thanks Muse!

      • lissa

ty for the awesome swatches, I want the chez chez but I have way more highlighters than I can use up but I can’t resist iridescent stuff which is way more flattering on me than shimmer and glitter–ah the pain of old age lol

also a sucker for blue-grays but I don’t usually like darker bases and I’m not very good working with cream shadows except as bases.

I love your banter in this post. 🙂
the highlight powders look a little scary in their compacts, but the colors look friendly. and I do really like those two paint pot colors.

  • Lucy

These all look so pretty. I have a highlight powder from Elizabeth Arden that is the same tewture as the MAC. It was a gift with purchase and I love the stuff. Don’t know what I’ll be buying yet!

  • S

Great swatches of the highlight powders! How would you compare Chez Chez Lame to either of the Honey Harvest highlight powders?

        • S

Yes Muse, I’m sorry, I meant the Naked Honey collection!! I have some perfume called Honey Harvest and I got the 2 mixed up. Any thoughts on the comparison?

          • the Muse

hi S, I don’t think there is any real comparison between the two, seems utterly different to me.

  • Nia

I love you even more 😀
The only thing I am interested in is the grey paint pot, Dangerous Cuvee and the I Get No Kicks kohl. The rest is just not doing it for me.

    Thanks for the review 🙂

everything looks stunnig,i didnt think this collection would be that special but it looks so pretty from your swatches

  • Crystal

Ooooh! I soo want those paint pots! I haven’t bought a new one in forever and it’s nice to see MAC coming out with some new colors for them!

  • Phyrra

The paint pots do look lovely! What interests me the most in this collection is the eyeliners, actually.

  • Nunuiviet

Hello the muse, I have a question , is by candlelight a dupe to rose ole?
I asked you that because I got already 3 by candlelight msf, and if it’s the same then I will only buy chez chez ….

  • Sara

I haven’t purchased MAC in years, mainly due to my initlal purchases being disappointing (powerpoint eyeliner and fluidline), and as much as this collection actually kind of bores me – I might need those weird powders! Everyone keeps saying they look like wrinkled paper, so am I the only one getting a “Hellraiser” flayed flesh vibe? They totally creep me out….yet I need one.

I haven’t tried a Paint Pot yet, do they dry out as quickly as the fluidlines?

    • the Muse

no way sara totally got the flayed flesh, wrinkly skin vibe LOL! ;-D Mmm no…I didn’t think so. I’ve had the Fafi ones since the release and they haven’t dried out ;D!

  • Katie

Hey!! Love ur post. Totally sold on this collection. I was wondering which highlighting powder would be best for NW20 skin?

    • the Muse

my pleasure katie. I’m not sure, I don’t use mac foundations and I’m not familiar with their color scheme sadly.

    • lissa

hI Katie, I’m NW15 and from the swatches I’d say if you want a hint of blush from it, go with the rose, but if you plan to use your own blush or want that uber-pale look I’d get the chez chez. to me the whole collection is sort of a party for pale, frosty winter skin and it’s gonna look awesome on the lightest skintones. I guess the name kinda says it “champ” (champagne=party) “pale” (bye bye tanning salons, turn pasty to frosty/ethereal)

  • lissa

love those paint pots. I’d love to do the paint pots on flawless coverage skin, a hint of shimmer on the cheeks, black liner, mascara and the Peacocky lip (blue!) from the Peacocky collection. lol the good old “I’ve frozen over” look for under the mistletoe. 🙂

Cham Pale collection was just launch yesterday in SG. I was so-so excited! i bought both Dangerous Cuvee & Vintage Selection; I get no kick eye-kohl; Bubble Lounge Lipgelee, Flustered lipstick & Chez Chez. (: I also bought the Fix+ in lavender, it smell so-good.

Still considering if i should get Rose Ole Soft too. It appears more like a blush on me. Advice…… Should I? lol
