NYX Blush Desert Rose Review, Swatches, Photos

I did a little too much damage during the 50% off site wide sale at NYX during Thanksgiving weekend. Ouch! But who resist at these prices?

Anyone haul?

Whatcha get?

I was excited to haul some of the mega palettes they had and I gotta tell you, so far, I’m not disappointed!

Anyway….

Even if you missed the sale, NYX still calls to the beauty budget souls among us. Check out their blush if you’re seeking pigmented yet wallet friendly.

I tried the shade Desert Rose and loved it!

Check it!

Powder blush at a budget price!

Variety is the spice of life and variety you get with NYX which includes a range of more than 24 shades of blush at a $6 price tag. I only picked up one blush for some silly reason but I sure wish I got more.

The shade I indulged in was Desert Rose which is a deep, rich dusty rose. It comes across very warm and almost peach-like on my cheeks and leaves behind a nice burst of glowing color with plenty of pigmentation and a formula blends easily and wears long. I was deeply impressed with the color pay off which honestly can compete with higher end blushes such as MAC or even NARS.

Packaging is very industry black standard which isn’t cute but hey MAC fans could pretty much relate and get used to it. It doesn’t come with a brush but that’s perfectly fine as well with me.

  • Anyone that loves pigmented blushes.
  • Anyone wanting high quality blush at a low cost.
  • Anyone wanting a budget blush that can compete with the likes or NARS or MAC.

  • Anyone who desires cute or elegant packaging (this is pretty much to the point sans frills).

NYX is popping up in CVS lately! Which is great as hopefully we’ll see an entire range of it available soon at our local drugstore. It’s probably one of the best budget brands out there with plenty of pigment and quality to back it up. The blush was amazingly good and I was more than happy with my purchase, particularly because I paid merely $3 during the sale! Such a deal! Desert Rose will look fabulous on most skin types but darker ones will absolutely love how pigmented and warm this comes across.

Loves it! Total Muse Approved for purchase!

i just love your posts for picking out the “hits” for us among all the products in these hit-or-miss type brands. makes hitting the drugstore isles so much better!! you’re like my secret weapon against cheap makeup hehe

  • Carol-Patricia

That color is to die for! I just might have to make an order soon myself…

  • Maddie

Yeesh! I was gone in portland yesterday for my 13th birthday and I come back and there is almost 3 pages worth of posts for drugstore stuff done yesterday! I missed so much =(

ever since i ordered rock&republic brushes i was unable to look at blushes again with cheap packaging but this might actually have sold me! i love deep purply pink blushes 🙂

  • Miss D

Their single blushes are good as well as their lipglosses and eyeshadow singles (the plain white eyeshadow is a staple for me…lots of pigmentation and smooth to the touch). One thing I didn’t like and I noticed in your “haul” photo was their 5 color eyeshadow Carribean Collection. I have one of these and I found all the shadows to be chalky and totally not blendable- nothing like their singles shadows, so beware! 🙂

    • the Muse

NOOOOOOOOOOO don’t say that Miss D! I know there trios are super chalky but the 5 color carribean goodies actually looked like they had some seriously nice shades! SOB!

  • Jane

Love these blushes athough I may be a bit bisaed since I love most products by NYX. I may have to add this colour to my collection.

      • Jane

I love the Caribbean Palettes I have St Marteen, Aurba and Barbados. I wish they would do more they could do other countries just an idea. But for shadows I either go to the singles , ten eyeshadows pallets or the smokey ones I think those have 9 eyeshadows in them. I have tried the trios and they were just so chalky that I couldn’ work with them.

        • the Muse

Jane other countries would be fun! ;-D I actually liked the ten shadow palette but haven’t tried all of ’em, just one or two!

  • Misato-san

I agree with you about NYX blushes! I own Peach, and it’s one of my favourite blushes ever, really versatile and lasts a lot!

I don’t think NYX eyeshadows trios are *that* chalky btw, I own three or four of them and they are ok with beautiful colours… maybe it depends on the shades?

    • the Muse

hi misato I’ve tried the trios without success but very curious about the five shade palettes I purchased.

      NYX blushes=AWESOME ;D!

      • Miss D

It could be that I bought a bad set of the 5 palette one…if you get the chance, please do a review on yours. I just bought one of the runway eye collections and it seems pretty good. Hugs beautiful!

        • the Muse

absolutely will miss d ;-D curious if it turns out well ;-D Hugs back to you and happy holidays! haven’t seen ya in a bit!

  • Jorid

I just have to say: I lost my NYX Silky Rose on the bathroom tiles recently – and it survived! Not even a tiny bit of breakage. I have to say I’m impressed! My Benefit Powderflage also landed on the tiles, and has been a great powdery mess ever since.

I’m also quite happy with my Champagne and Caviar palette btw – great for everyday looks! 🙂

    • the Muse

Jorid I’m clumsy like that good to hear it held strong ;-D! I have the C&C palette but haven’t used yet, happy to hear it’s fab :D!

  • Pauline

Hi! I love Nyx, What local drug store can we find these? Rite Aid Walgreen’s? Please help

    • the Muse

cvs sells some nyx and harmon’s has a huge line including blushes, shadows, etc.

  • Tigress

I’ve been checking Ulta for the NYX blushes to no avail. I don’t know if they just haven’t gotten them in yet or if they ever will. My Ulta never has anything in stock, it’s maddening.
