Shu Uemura Abracadabra Fantasy Cleansing Oil Review and Rant
Look under my vanity sink and in my wash room cabinets and closet and you’ll find any number of cleansing oil bottles. Meaning I don’t need more.
However, present me with a bottle of the new Shu Uemura Abracadabra Fantasy Cleansing Oil and I can get excited. Aya Takano lends a hand in the creation of this year’s Holiday Collection and created a beautiful princess riding her magical stallion onto a bottle of one of my favorite cleansing oils…
But….
First off if you haven’t used cleansing oil prior to this, well, you won’t find a review here. Please see my archive of detailed reviews on Cleansing Oils so you can catch up on what they are, which are good ones, and how to use them!
This is actually my rant-y post to Shu and possibly yours too if you agree.
Part of the appeal of purchasing the new Shu Uemura Abracadabra Fantasy Cleansing Oil was for the bottle. This isn’t even the oil I normally purchase from Shu but I thought why not, I can always refill.
Upon receiving it I was thrilled. The art on the outer packaging is divine and truly gorgeous. If you’re familiar with Aya’s work this embodies her classic pieces perfectly with a touch of whimsy.
Take the bottle out of the package and proceed to be a tad on the disappointed side or maybe it’s just me. The bottle has the same art but not in the beautiful color that you see on the outer box. The proceeded to do the art work in a black transparent design. The princess and stallion are both black with a hot pink background but some of the areas are transparent allowing the oil inside the bottle to basically mimic the “skin” of the princess. That sounds weird I know but glance at the bottle below and you’ll see what I mean.
Needless to say I was really disappointed that the beautiful color print on the outer box didn’t carry to the bottle. I imagine this might be because they didn’t want the image to become wet and run, etc…but they could have glossed it over don’t you think to prevent this?
Sigh….
I actually have been considering returning it.
Just terribly disappointed.
Anyone haul it?
What did you think?
