Shu Uemura Lip Duo & Tint Love Apricot Harmony Pink Review, Swatches, Photos
I couldn’t resist the new Shu Uemura Lip Duo & Tints from the Shu Uemura Takano Abracadabra Fantasy Collection for Holiday 2010. I admit I had my doubts they wouldn’t work because my lips are pigmented plus they just appeared very nude (I can’t do nudes) but I wanted to try them out anyway since the promo images really made them look darling.
Did they work?

A stackable duo of lip tint and gloss!
Props for packaging! Love the sweet stackable jars that contain the lip tint on the upper level and the gloss on the lower. They just scream cute!
Pink Harmony contains a nearly transparent shade of pink gloss and a matching rosy pink lip tint. Love Apricot contains a shimmering transparent white gloss and a fleshy peachy shade of lip tint.
The lip tint formula is a tad on the disappointing side. This is a very hard texture balm that has decent color pay off but makes for a bit of drama applying due to the dense texture. I’d have loved something a bit more creamy and hydrating but for the most part it feels like a densely packed lip concealer (both shades give off that vibe of lip concealer).
The glosses are quite nice however not nearly as nice as Shu’s regular line of lacquers but regardless they do leave behind a nice layer of shine and have a thick, gooey texture that will give a fuller lip look.
For the most part, as pretty as they appear, I do think many will have a hard time pulling off the shades of lip tint. Maybe I’m delusional here but the nude shades of both pink and peach are highly unflattering and aren’t nearly as gorgeous looking as they appear on the models in the promo image. The shades look chalky, have a rather ugly creamy finish, and just seem to act as a lip concealer rather than a tint. Perhaps those that have paler lips might be able to work this look well but I sadly could not. They look AMAZING in the pot but after trying them on for size I knew I’d look ghastly going out in them (corpse bride-like).
- Anyone with farier skin and less than pigmented lips will find the joy here!
- Those who like darling little pots of gloss and tint (cute packaging seals the deal every time).
- Those weirded out or disgusted by “dipping” their fingers into a pot of lip product.
- Anyone with pigmented lips (you’ll probably get a bit of a chalky finish if your lips are pigmented).
- Anyone with dry, cracked lips (they do not apply well on a less than perfectly smooth lip).
I really wanted to love these as the shades of candy hued pink and peach were highly appealing however I did have to snap back to reality when I realized I couldn’t do such nude shades of color. Some may find these work well but I think most will agree they aren’t the easiest lip product in the world to pull off!
