Smashbox In Bloom Spring 2011

I absolutely adore the promo model’s image for the Smashbox In Bloom Spring 2011 Collection. It’s so fresh and clean, very natural for Spring with a minimalist finish but just the right amount of makeup to flatter.

But I couldn’t help but wonder how they got such a great eye look from the Smashbox In Bloom Eye Palette which contains some really smoky shades. This is one reason you probably should never depend on stock imagery to make your makeup choices as I’m guessing the palette looks way better in the flesh than it does in the promo shot.

Anyone with me?

I’m sorry, I swear, I’m not rushing your Holidays away but as we head through the Holidays and we come out hopefully intact, Spring will be full in your face more and more in the makeup world.

Last year, Smashbox brought us a rather fun Valentine’s selection with the Heartbreaker Collection. Did you enjoy it? I kinda liked the idea of a Spring Collection inspired by romance, Valentine’s Day, etc….

This year, Smashbox embraces more of a flirty, fresh Spring look. It’s still romantic but its also lighter, fresher, and more natural!

Let’s take a peek!

Smashbox In Bloom for Spring 2011 is available from Smashbox.com now.

You might recognize the new liner releasing from a past post I did when this originally debuted on QVC a few months ago. I thought SPF in the lipgloss was an interesting extra. The palette I’m iffy on and have to see in person but if it can recreate the soft eye look on the model, I’m in.

What do you think of the Smashbox In Bloom Collection?

Yay?

I agree, Muse – not quite sure how the eye look came from this palette. I haven’t seen it in person, however, from the picture, the colors do seem a lot smokier than the picture. They do seem kind of ‘smokey soft’ though (if that makes sense) so perhaps they used a lot of the more neutral colors in the top of the palette.
The the colors in this selection look more appealing to me, however, I like the packaging in the Heartbreaker collection a lot better. Rollerball lipgloss? Yes, please! I miss Jr. High!

Right brooke? I see a few shades of nicer nude peach in the top as well so maybe that’s where they got it!? ;-D I LOVE the look on her eyes, it’s really fresh! I feel like the older I get the lighter I have to go as I seem to look all kinds of tired when I go too bold lately :((((((((((

OMG yes lol! reliving my youth with that bloody rollerball lol!

      • Brooke

I love the look of her eyes, too! But I feel you with bold = tired look. Recently, I have noticed lines under my eyes and I think where the hell did these come from? 🙂

        • the Muse

I dunno how it happened brooke but I got old LOL ;-D I used to love aqua, teals, blues, hot shades of pink, etc…this site is testimony to my worst makeup looks LOL if you look back in the archives but recently I can’t seem to pull them off as well as I used too sigh. They make me look all kinda of tired and just overall really bad 🙁 It’s the worst since I love these bolder shades so much!

I agree, where did these come from!? WTH!? Oh well. We can console each other!

  • JoElla

Oh great, now I really want some Maybelline Strawberry Cheesecake roller ball lip gloss!

Pretty colors, but sadly lately Smashbox has been hit or miss with me. Maybe I will change my mind if I can actually see and touch this in person.

And now to be a wee bit snarky.. I am kinda having a hard time getting over those tacky flower things that look like someone playing around on photo shop threw over the picture. Too bad because the makeup is beautiful.

    • the Muse

strawberry cheescake Jo? I’m on that!

Have to see it in person too! promo images isn’t getting me. Ha! yeah, those are a bit distracting ;-D

Happy Holidays hun! to you and yours!

  • Beautiful Canvas

Hmm…for some reason the eyeshadow doesn’t scream Spring to me.

Love the picture of the model though…now that’s Spring!

  • Rachel

I think the look COULD have been made from the brightest pink or peach on the palette, however the the pic itself doesn’t seem to really showcase the full range of products.

Though I am interested in just about all of them, damnit I need a better paying job, sadly blogging is mostly gratis. *G*

    • the Muse

ha rachel can’t live off this blog that’s for sure, can relate ;-D! xoxox! Not at all, and the thing is I really LIKE the promo pic but can’t really figure out what or how they created. They normally do vids though so I hope the website updates with ’em shortly ;D!

  • Mina

I bought one of their eye shadow palettes before and noticed that on the palette, and when I swatched them on my hand, they seem really dark but when I apply to my lids, they are on the sheer side… but buildable. I think same concept goes for this, the palette seems smoky- dark-ish but its not as dark as it may seem. 😛 But I’m just guessing here and I do see a few light shades on their spring palette. 😀

  • Phyrra

I adore the vivid coral, orange, fuchsia and violet on the model in her clothing and lips. Her eyes are boring to me, but I do like the lips.

  • Christina

Ooohh – I am already lusting after the eye palette! Any idea when this collection will hit stores?

    • the Muse

already online Christina and imagine you’ll see it in stores soon as the holidays are cleared up. prob first to 2nd week in Jan ;D

      • Christina

My need to have this eyeshadow palette was too great to wait till it hits stores. I ordered it yesterday from the Smashbox website and added a primer and lip gloss for good measure b/c of the $25 off $100 promo – Merry Christmas to me! LOL!

          • Christina

I just received it Friday but haven’t had a chance to use it yet. The colors are very pretty – not what I usually wear (nudes) so I’m excited to try it out.

  • Smirking Valet

The e/s palette reminds an awful lot of the palette from the Muse collection a few years back. Your namesake!

    • the Muse

mm smirking YES ;-D a bit! ;-D I had to get that palette b/c of the name ha!

  • MsYogawolf

I have the palette, and it is beautiful! I haven’t tried it quite yet but it’s even prettier in person, and the eyeshadows are pretty smooth (from the swatches i’ve done at least!)

I’m not really a fan of the brush though. I suppose it’s nice.

  • lyn8070

Saw these at Sephora. The blush is lovely, I don’t normally like gel blushes. Mixed the darker of this with the lipgloss (kiss), its beautiful! SB does tend to be hit or miss, but these 2 items work for me.
