Wet n Wild Color Icon Blusher Review, Swatches, Photos

I used to stick to the high end road on Musings for a very long time but many of you expressed more budget friendly posts and thus my adventures in drugstore land began. I’m lucky the walls don’t crumble down around me when I walk into a drugstore because lord knows I avoid the makeup aisles at the local shops like the plague.

But lately….

Things have improved and brands are definitely competing with their more higher end sisters. So Beauty and a Budget is definitely a regular deal around these parts and I’m ever so happy to bring you a great deal on makeup that has high quality to back it up!

One such item, Wet n Wild Color Icon Blusher. Can you say wicked good?

Jump!

An under $3 blush with a highly pigmented formula.

You’ll adore these if you love great beauty budget picks that have excellent quality to back up that sweet price tag. The blush runs from $2.50 up to $4 depending where you purchase them. I actually got them for $1.50 each at Walgreens last week when all Wet n Wild Cosmetics was 50% off. Score!

I wasn’t sure I’d like them but I was surprised and delighted how pigmented they were and how easily they applied. The formula is smooth and silky and has incredible color pay off for a nice pop of color on cheeks. You can apply subtly for a flush of color or with a heavier hand for a more dramatic finish. I’d recommend them for olive or darker skin tones because they are easily some of the most pigmented blushes I’ve seen at the local drugstore.

Although at first glance I felt the packaging was uneventful and slightly cheap looking I quickly warmed up to how slim the compacts were and how easily they stored. I actually like the packaging for its simplicity.

I got four shades but I believe there are two more? One of which is a bronzer.

Shades I got were Pearlescent Pink (kinda NARS Orgasm-like with more of a peachy punch), Heather Silk (dusky pink), Mellow Wine (weird name because it comes across more as a dusky peach than a wine shade), Berry Shimmer (again, contrasting name because it doesn’t really come across full on berry but more coralish berry). The shades are all rather gorgeous and dare I say unique as I can’t honestly say any of them look like anything I already have in my stash and believe me I have plenty of blushes.

Hated the brush included with the blush but not a big deal, this tends to happen alot with drugstore brands. Would love to see Wet n Wild introduce more shades as the four or five they have now definitely doesn’t offer a ton of variety.

  • Students that love makeup but can’t afford to indulge in big brand names such as NARS (these are spot on for the quality you’d get in a $25 NARS Blush!)
  • Anyone who loves snagging a great makeup deal!
  • Lovers of NARS Blush (I’d say they fall into the same realms and maybe you can find a dupe or two of the colors you love).

  • The brush and packaging might not appeal to packaging snobs.

Absolutely adored these and felt they were a super steal! After many ravings from readers who urged me to try these out, I’m happy to have finally tried them as they work a treat. The formula reminds me of a $3 buck NARS dupe. Get ’em. Even if you love high end try them anyway, you’ll be surprised how great they are.

Very Muse Approved for purchase!

Anyone try these?

Love ’em?

Do share!

I have the Pearlescent Pink, Heather Silk, Mellow Wine and I have been trying to find the berry shad. I have to say that Wet n Wild have really upped their game and their products are of better quality. I like there new eyeshadows as well.

    • the Muse

I couldn’t agree more Jane. I’d have passed by most of it a few years ago but recently, WOW. Great stuff ;D Hope you find the berry shade soon, it’s really gorg!

        • Isabella Muse

it’s so rare that blush fades for me arianna so I can get a fair 7-8 hours out of these without a prob!

          • Arianna

oh great!!I got 3 sades: mellow wine berry simmer and pearlescent pink. I have normal skin with no pimples/oil. What do u think te staying power on me will be?

          • Isabella Muse

It’s hard to say Arianna, it obviously varies from skin type to skin type and also how you prep and prepare your face for makeup. I have dry skin and I get about eight hours of wear. Since you already have the maybe test them out for yourself and see how the staying powder is?

          • Arianna

ok tnx! I’m in love w/ them 😀 and ur review it has been one of the ones thai i read before buyin em :*

          • Isabella Muse

happy to hear it let me know what you think and long long they wear for you I’d be interesting to hear your thoughts 🙂

I am so glad that you tried these! I love the ones that I got a few weeks ago. ^-^

  • Josie

I have Pearlescent Pink and Berry Shimmer and love them! Such a fab drugstore cheap thrill. I hope WnW expands the line and comes out with more of these blushes! Thanks for posting!

  • Abby

You mentioned you like these for darker skin tones. Any recommendations of which of these colors might work for a pale girl?

    • the Muse

any abby imho as long as you use a lighter hand as they are VERY pigmented.

      • jonnie

That was gonna be my question too… what about ghostly chicks? 😉 well, maybe I’ll give this a shot. I’ve been wanting to experiment with some new colors… this could be a good, cheap way to do so.

  • Harshleen

Great post muse! I have Pearlescent pink and it’s a gorgeous shade…….got it after I heard it’s a dupe for Nars orgasm. Loving it……stays well too!

  • Carrie

Wow, I will definitely check these out! I was actually a huge fan of their Acapulco Glow bronzer (although for me it’s more of a highlighter) before it got discontinued.

  • Emily

these look nice. i myself am one of those broke college students who lust after the name brands but can’t afford them. i have actually never worn blush so i guess i will have to watch a few tutorials on how to apply but at a cheap price it wouldn’t really hurt the bank if i decided I didn’t like it!!

  • Tohnia

the first color icon blush I tried was the berry shimmer! It was in the old packaging, and its still my favorite blush. If you have yellow undertones like me, then berry shimmer gives you the perfect “just in from the cold” look. 🙂 Its great on tanned skin also! I’m going to see if I can score the new colours!

  • Karrie

I really have to check out wet ‘n’ wild.
I hear good things about this line.
    These were great swatches.

  • Mary the Muse Militant

These look very very pigmented and what a bargain !
Wet n Wild is available over here but still it is hard to find as very few places do it.
I’ll keep a lookout for those and for that Christmas Night Elf palette.

  • LorraineER

I have pearlescent pink and I love it on my NW15 complexion. They blend easily and they last too. I don’t like when I take the time to apply and blend my blush just right in the morning and by lunchtime it has disappeared or even worse, migrated causing my skin to look patchy! That has happened with some other really inexpensive blushes I’ve tried (looking at you, maybelline!) but I’m loving these. Yay Wet N Wild for giving me cheap thrills!

    • the Muse

lorraine can’t believe how great they are at this price. you can totally place them up against nars and beauty battle them out, the quality holds out for sure!!!!!!!!!

  • Taylor

I love Wet N’ Wild, and these look lovely, I’m going to get them all. 😀

  • Henriëtte

This is funny, the old Calvin Klein makeup line has blushes with exact
    the same names!

  • Jan

Just picked up the Heather Silk one today and I love it! Wet N Wild products are on sale for buy1get50% off at RiteAid this week so I think I’ll stop by to get more shades 🙂
