Do You DHC? Japanese Skincare in a Western World

I’m commonly asked, “Where can I buy good Asian skincare in the US?” This is difficult to say as tracking down Japanese or Korean skincare in the US isn’t easy and most of it involves online sleuthing if you live in a small suburb or city. My city happens to have alot of little beauty shops that actually carry various Asian brands however my best success is swapping with friends who live abroad or going the Internet shopping route.

Shopping online is such a traumatic experience when dealing with beauty purchases abroad since sellers are legendary for jacking prices up to crazy heights.

Solution?

DHC.

DHC is a Japanese manufacturer of cosmetics, healthy food supplements, apparel, etc….however here in the US we only get the cosmetic and skincare side of DHC which is fine by me as I’m all about the beauty!

DHC offers an easy, fairly inexpensive way to get high quality Japanese skincare easily!

Chose from various lotions and potions to address any need such as oily skin, anti-aging, and more! Snag yourself a bottle of DHC’s cult favorite Deep Cleansing Oil or grab some sheet masks. Cleansing Oil and Sheet Masks aren’t something you commonly see from US brands so both can be a novel experience to try out for the first time or to stock up on if you already love and use these items!

From haircare to skincare and even body care, DHC covers a wide range of products for your beauty needs.

So do you DHC?

Have any favorite products from the brand?

If not, I do suggest you explore the site, you might be surprised at how many great offerings they have!

Browse it at www.dhccare.com

I look forward to hearing thoughts from the seasoned DHC user!

Hi Muse…it’s snowing on the east coast again.

Anyway, I love DHC, made multiple purchases, been using them since 2007 so you can say i am a veteran (since I switch brands all the time). I think most of their products are effective…I just wish they come out with more makeup. I was not happy when they discontinue the cream foundation.

I did a bunch of reviews on their products if anyone is interested.

    • the Muse

hi beautiful. yup another day in paradise here in ny LOL ;-D

I’ll have to check out your reviews!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been using DHC for several years now and am quite pleased. Their cleansing oil is a staple. I haven’t tried any other cleansing oils, but this one really does the trick for me. I also like the Acerola gel and CoQ10 eye cream. Best part – they send 2 free samples with their catalog each month, so it’s a great way to try various products. They used to send 4 samples, but I guess the economy is getting to them as well.

    • the Muse

lulu awesome ;-D the cleansing oil is a great inexpensive pick compared to Shu’s pricer version ;D! haven’t tried the q10 eye cream but def wants too!

Sorry to say I’m not a DHC user but would like to be !
I’ve heard great stuff about them and lots of other Japanese and Korean brands – beside the wonderful Shu amd Shiseido.
I’m hoping they will have some Asian brands at the upcoming IMATS on Saturday.

      • Mary the Muse Militant

I’m already on my way to IMATS (in my dreams) !!
I’ve been on my way to IMATS since December when I purhcased my ticket.
Actually I’m going on Saturday (this weekend) and I can’t wait !!!
I’ll be up at the crack of dawn to get there when the doors open as I’ve heard loads of things sell out early.
I’ve a long list but not a lotta money so any loan you can send across the pond to see me through ??? !! LOL !

DHC cleansing oil is a staple for me. It’s amazing! I’ve tried other stuff from them before too and liked everything.

I love DHC! they make my favorite creams, they’re what works best with my hyper sensitive skin!

  • Aline

I’ve used DHC products for about 5-6 years and I have to say they are really great. I have combo skin with oily areas and breakouts, but in the winter time I swear by the cleansing oil. Also, their Q10 products are very effective for fine lines. These products really do what they say the do and are reasonably priced. I keep coming back year in and year out when other products fail me.

    • the Muse

aline they really do get rave reviews happy to hear they work so well for ya hun!

  • yuki

🙁 DHC just arrived on our shores not long ago~~~ It’s expensive here…

I can not live without Velvet Skin Coat! It makes my skin feel amazing and my make-up goes on so much easier. Helps control shine all day. I use it on my lids to keep my eye shadow on all day as well! I use Q10 eye cream and I just tried the Q10 soap. Love it a lot. I just love DHC and always recommend it to my friends!

    • the Muse

robyn I def have to try their eye creams ;-D been curious! Velvet Coat is really a great one, one of the few silicone primers that hasn’t broken me out :D!

  • Maggie

Velvet Coat. Yes, the creams are incredible — and there’s something for everyone special needs — but Velvet Coat is what got me hooked on DHC many years ago.

Most people use Velvet Coat as a base that smooths the skin for additional color, but it is invaluable as a quick way to look wonderfully natural when time or whatever gets in the way of full make-up. It smooths the skin with only the faintest matte touch and goes on almost without thinking.

Also, for those with sensitive skin, it works without irritation. I had to give up make-up years ago — not even a couple hours of fun painting of any allergy-free product worked anymore — but I can use Velvet Coat to present a tidy look to the world and feel confident that I will look the same when I get home.

The DHC sunblock goes on with style, not slop, too.

    • the Muse

velvet coat is one of the only silicone primers that hasn’t broken me out maggie. Great pick hun! ;-D I def have to check out the sunblock! :D!

  • Cheryl

Love DHC! I’ve always had a lot of trouble finding a moisturizer that won’t make me breakout. Enter Acerola Gel! It doesn’t matter if I accidentally apply too much, my skin just licks it up without a worry.

  • Karen

I’ve been using DHC for years & my skin has never been better. Olive Oil is great for those really cold Idaho days when you’re outdoors–I admit I was skeptical about putting on Olive Oil. None of their products leave a greasy feel afterwards either.

    • the Muse

hi karen I love the Olive Oil serum great stuff ;D! good to hear you’re loving DHC so much!

  • fishball

I have actually make a purchase from them 3 days ago… and if you fancy to try any of their products, you can call them and request 4 of their products in sample sachet from them… and I ordered 4 samples, and in addition they sent me 4 of their best selling products in samples along with the catalogue.

The Q10 eye cream is one of the items I ordered from the sample and I actually like it, and I ordered the full size since they are having a 25% off for the Q10 eye cream for the month of february.

And I was looking around for coupon codes and I actually find some codes for 10% off plus free shipping and additional discounts for referral… which is great on top of the sales items!!

I am so looking forward for the shipment!

Wow, thanks for a great post Muse!
I’m a recent follower, and I have to say, you have great, straightforward reviews with a touch of personality.

I’m considering getting the DHC Cleansing Oil, but with a total paycheque of 5$ (being a teen is hard), do you have any alternative cleansing oils that are more acessible and cheaper?

    • the Muse

aw thanks hai you’re too kind. sadly not hun. Cleansing Oils are always pretty expensive and really rare in the western market. Too bad we don’t live in Asia ;-D as we can easily get some great cheap ones :D!

  • kalamazoo

I use the olive oil cleanser all the time! absolutely wonderful especially for those with dry skin. It’s not oily believe it or not! It rinses clean but leaves moisture in the skin not on it. Wonderful for removing eye makeup. Love the samples they put in each catalogue-great way to try to product. And with every order you can choose other samples to try.

  • Hannah

I’ve been interested in DHC products, especially the Acerola line. I have oily/combo skin and thought it might help my skin to control the breakouts. Have you tried that line before? I’ve been wanting to place my order but not sure how long it will take for them to deliver… Your comment is greatly appreciated 🙂

  • Maggie

Although I can’t speak specifically to break outs, I had them bad when I was younger and was left with rougher skin. I have problem now, maybe once or twice a year, but I suspect that it doesn’t bother me so much any more because….

After nearly 10 years of using DHC, I can see such a difference in the texture of my skin! It’s smoother than it was and the pores don’t seem to scream their presence. I’ve ended up using the Q10 series products the most, and lately, the Platinum Silver line. And of course, Skin Coat.

So, it’s never too late to start with a product that helps control the after-effects of acne. I had given up in my 40s because nothing worked. I tried DHC because i had been so fond of Shiseido when i could still wear make-up, and I’m so glad that I did.
