FairyDrops Mascara

I feel like the days of chasing after my friends in Japan and Korea for makeup beauty finds are over as more and more brands migrate to the Western market.

I hope we’ll see more brands from Asia make an appearance in stores here soon and thankfully we might not have to wait too long.

Fairy Drops Mascara will be launching at Sephora very soon! I’m so excited about this launch as it’s such a landmark release for the US market. Hey, it’s not everyday we get cult beauty products from Japan!

If you missed my review from a few years ago please revisit it by clicking here!

Fairy Drops isn’t quite ready to drop yet but you can visit the Sephora page and check it out for yourself and add it to your wish list for when it does officially arrive.

Do keep in mind the customary Fairy Drops applicator has changed but the product will hopefully remain the same with a fiber mascara and the promise of doll-like lashes!

Available shortly from www.Sephora.com

East is finally meeting West!

NO WAY!! I was just thinking about ordering some from Adambeauty, hahahahaha. This is so cool!!!!

  • Eve

Wow I just found it at a little Asian store the other day! I think it’s a good mascara but I’m not really sure why everyone is going so crazy about it. Maybe I’m applying it wrong? Oh well, at least the packaging is kawaii!

  • Ashley

I bet the mark up will be ridiculous. Look at what they did to Imju Fiberwig!

  • joolz

I’ve tried this! It was definitely worth purchasing, but it is quite immovable, difficult to remove. Having said that, I am curious about the new applicator!

Whoot! This means no more stalking my local market that only sometimes has it in stock. It looks like Sephora is going to charge $24, so only a few $ more than what I can get it for semi locally. Still Adam Beauty is cheaper by a long shot, but they never have it in stock when I need it.

Seriously I just ordered 3 because I couldn’t find it anywhere else! I was scared it was getting discontinued! This is the best news ever. Thanks muse!

Hey Muse! I re-read your Fairy Drops mascara review, and noticed you mentioned that you’d never met a Japanese mascara you didn’t love. While I can agree that there are a ton of amazing Japanese mascaras (Imju’s Lash Knockout is one of my absolute FAVs, and I also adore the Majolica Majorca line!), I was wondering if you’ve tried any of the Fasio mascaras. I love the effect that I get when I use the Curl Lock (Volume) mascara (it comes in a sleek silver tube with gently rounded edges), it is the MOST DIFFICULT mascara to remove that I have ever encountered, in my many encounters with many mascaras. I admit I find the MM mascaras pretty hard to get off too, even with a powerful oil remover.

What is your favorite product for removing these awesome but tough Japanese mascaras? Thanks, Muse!

    • the Muse

hi emily I believed I reviewed two fasio mascaras on my blog but wasn’t a big fan to be honest as both were fiber ones and I’m not a big fiber fan, makes me feel like I have lashes in my eyes when I use ;-D

I never had issues with MJ being difficult to remove in all honesty.

I really like Lancome Bi-Facil but it can be $$$ so Sephora oil base remover is my go to! Also like the Mandom Eye Makeup remover!

Musey, it’s available NOW!!!! I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooove this mascara!! I purchased it after you did your review and cannot say enough about it!

    • the Muse

yay shayne ;-D when I looked yesterday it wasn’t yet in stock girl! super!

If stores are stocking Asian brands then we have you to thank love! xoxo

I just tried the new version that’s debuting at Sephora, and the formula is quite different from the original. This one provides tons of curl and major length, but it’s not quite as volumizing. Also the finish is super glossy and it leaves the lashes very flexible.

Of course it doesn’t smudge or flake, and the formula is a bit more fiber-y like Deja Vu’s formula.

I love it as it makes my eyelashes super duper curly, like touching my eyelids curly, without needing an eyelash curler. =)

So glad to see that Fairy Drops is available here. You got me hooked on that and Majolica Majorca mascaras!! Hopefully, the next mascara to come over to our shores will be Kiss Me Goodlash Power Beam. Love that one! I take off my mascara with the remover from Kiss Me. It comes in a mascara wand and I just brush it on and leave it on for awhile. It takes everything off and my lashes are in great condition. Inglot also makes an excellent waterproof makeup remover. Thanks for keeping us updated with all the mascara news!!

That packaging is probably the most adorable mascara packaging I have seen. I’m glad to see someone has moved away from the neutrals.

PS Muse- its so awesome that you review so many Asian/ Eastern products! Globalization baby!

    Hi Muse,

As you know, Fairy Drops Scandal Queen mascara is in stock now on Sephora and I was wondering what your thoughts were on the price tag of 24 USD? Is this about what you would expect? How does it compare to the price in Japan or when you’ve ordered it. I wasn’t clear as to whether this was a drugstore brand or higher end so I thought I’d ask the expert. 😀

    Thanks!

So I was pretty excited about this, but I hate to say… it makes my eyes itchy! Sooo itchy! I think it is the fibers… it flakes on me and I itch my eyes and poof, hot mess. I’m going to have to return it… and I was so excited. Oh well.

    • the Muse

aw sorry jonnie 🙁 fiber mascaras are def not for everyone 🙁

    • sparklyblind

oh darn, sorry about that, jonnie! and i was sooo about to finally try this years or whatever after the sephora launch. but i just say no to fibres, they are also why i cannot use mascara primers and such.

i did try the dior white tube primer and dedicated my lashes to it since it really showed results even though i chose to use it only at night as they sell it as a conditioner, strengthener, thickener, etc. but i had to stop using that after my tube was empty. i had already purchased another replacement tube that came as part of a set or was under some sort of sale.

It’s a full size. I regret I really use it cant use it, though, because along w irritation/feeling like something’s in my eye (and if sleeping w it on, there really probably IS) I also found that by the end of the month it was seemingly breaking my lashes off as i slept, i think it made them brittle. but i decided to actually try it as a primer 1x and WOW!! I used it w dior’s extase, i think, the gold tube. i have since done that a few more times with awesome lash results but it still does sometimes cause me watery eyes and sometimes VERY badly. Lastly, I’m the sort who just does not ever want to deal w going in-store to (I feel, “DARE”) RETURN “The Beauty Authority’s products. I feel so horrible returning ANYTHING ANYWHERE FOR ANY REASON!!

They are just too time wasting and try to push an EXCHANGE instead of just not using up my Time asking me questions thinking they know what I “need/want/would like” and showing not only mascaras but basically anything within reach they want to tout as they take me away from the counter (AKA- NOT performing their return duty as requested by their Client) but instead insist i journey w them on a sort of beauty safari all around the store! i seriously do not personally hate these workers, or as sephora called them when I worked there myself, “Cast Members” or just “The Cast,” or for short, “Cast.”

I know how things were working there and all of my retail jobs so I refrain from being rude and I try to help the employee to understand they are using THEIR OWN VALUABLE SELLING TIME with me because I will not be making a purchase so let’s just stay here at the counter, save Time, and boo-hoo, make the return. sephora was the only retail place where I was not management but I really felt they did not ever seem to understand Time management vs sales goals and def did not pass it on to their employees to enable MORE sales and, so what about a $20 return…

BUT, The 1 thing I WILL return is a fragrance, even if opened/used because they are highpriced items and I just cannot deal w a bad reaction of ANY type from a fragrance that even if I try, I cannot give away to some1 literally in another state (so I will not hv to be exposed to it.)

Sorry, off topic again rambling, but daaaarrrnn, I WAS PUMPED for this now, esp since I need new mascara!

  • pearlessence

Do you know if Fairy Drop’s Platinum mascara is the same as Scandal Queen available at Sephora? The packaging is almost identical – the only difference being the shade of the pink graffiti on the tube…

  • sparklyblind

When this first was launched I thought “OMG SO CUTES BUT sruff like that never delivers…” After reading your reviews and comments of others I went from totally finally ready to order it to once again thinking “Nah.”
The price was what first got to me since it’s a foreign, unknown brand and Sephora can claim “cult status/classic” about whatever they please. We need to research ourselves. Also, WHY must they insist on changing the so-called cult status awesome formula when launched in the U.S? I REALLY HATE THAT!! It makes it no longer the same product and there is no 2 ways about that in my opinion.
Also, the fiber situation I just read about, especially this review/comment- “jonnie:
So I was pretty excited about this, but I hate to say… it makes my eyes itchy! Sooo itchy! I think it is the fibers… it flakes on me and I itch my eyes and poof, hot mess. I’m going to have to return it… and I was so excited. Oh well.” REALLY turned me to not just neutral but negative. I have SO much Sephora stuff I REALLY should have returned or atleast exchanged, stupid me, very stupid me!! I know I won’t ever get around to doing the right thing w just 1 more product that should be returned, I feel now.

Fibers and such are the reason I do not use mascara primers.

Well, thanks, Muse and everyone else! 🙂
