Guerlain Rouge G Serie Noire Review, Swatches, Photos

My favorite purchase to date for Spring 2011 is without a doubt the new Guerlain Rouge G Serie Noire! Adore it. What a gorgeous piece and it inspires the need for a back up in my makeup soul. It’s been a while since I felt the need to buy back up on any makeup pieces!

But this, this I’m a more than a little obsessed with.

Loves it!

Jump!

A new, limited edition graduating blush for Spring 2011 from Guerlain.

Considering Guerlain isn’t known for their wide variety of blushes I do think Guerlain Rouge G Serie Noire is a little extra special. This is a blush with a series of graduating shades that leaves behind a kiss of golden coral. The shade is perfect enough to get me all kinds of excited considering that I love shades of peaches and corals.

Shades graduate from pink to fuchsia with a dominate orange-y coral and a sensual golden beige. The dominate orange appears a tad loud and might frighten some however once combined with the other shades you end up with a golden coral that should compliment most skin types. It’s warm, pretty, and just gorgeous on cheeks. Some may wonder if it compares to NARS Orgasm, Bella Bamba, or Coralista, I personally feel it compares to none of these shades and has a more delicate pay off than the three mentioned with a more unique twist on coral with layers of spicy orange that create a glow on cheeks and face!

The formula has a very subtle kiss of golden shimmer but nothing dramatic or frightful. Formula is silky, blends easily, and has very nice vibrant pigmentation sans being too bold or overly done.

The packaging is a two tier design that features the powder and a full size mirror on the first layer and a brush stealthy, generously sized compartment for the brush.

You can use this with a heavy hand or a lighter touch as you’ll see from my photos below the options allow for a more delicate pay off or one with a bit more vibrancy when using a heavier hand. If you want to concentrate on one shade of color you can easily do so however I prefer swishing my brush in all four shades and tapping onto my cheeks!

The price is $46 which could prove a tad too high for some however those used to purchasing high end will feel it’s a quality product at a rather good deal. I personally felt the price wasn’t too bad at all but that’s just my opinion which of course will vary from person to person.

Nothing bad here, a perfect blush to me!

  • Guerlain fans and lovers (this feels like a very, unique special product from Guerlain particularly because they don’t concentrate on blushes as much as I’d like them to!).
  • Anyone who favors shades of coral or peach (if you like NARS Orgasm, Coralista, Etc….you’ll adore Noire)
  • Anyone who wants a golden kiss of color for Spring!

  • Those who aren’t keen on splurging near $50 on a single blush!

I absolutely adored this and felt it was one the more unique shades of golden coral I have in my personal collection. I can easily see myself hitting pan on the shade and have considered and mused over a possible back up before it’s gone for good. The shade just begs to be used throughout all the seasons as it’ll work fabulous for Fall, Summer, and Spring!

Loves it!

Truly worth a haul and a Muse Approval for purchase!

aw thanks kristy you’re way kind ;-D def worth a haul hun if it’s the only blush you buy for Spring/Summer you’ll be a happy little lady!

  • elizabeth

I’m so jealous! That blush is gorgeous! I’m not gonna buy it tho, I don’t have any Guerlain and I just know that hauling this blush would be a slippery slope.

  • Nia

The blush looks great on you, especially in the first picture with the classy eyeliner 🙂
I tried it this week and was I all prepared to not like it and that it would be too warm for me.
Well, I was disappointed, it’s not and it is a lovely pink on me. No idea how, but it is. The SA said that everyone that she tried the blush on loved it and it looked great on them. It’s a bit glitzier than what I am used to, but it still looks lovely. No burning my skin. Well, just very nice. Amazing texture.

Question though is do I need it? And would you get it for twice the price?
But I am still thinking about getting it 😉

Have a great weekend Musey 🙂

    Hi Muse!

I’m so glad you did a review on this! This was one of the spring makeup collection items I was really looking forward to. I liked what Guerlain did with the black case and the colorful powder inside. Kind of reminding me of Estee Lauder but this one is so expensive 🙁 .
By the way I love your FOTD. Let me just say that this is one of my favorite looks you’ve done. That blush looks gorgeous!! The colors are so simple but it looks so beautiful 🙂 !! If I bought it I wonder if it would look like that on me?

  • S

Looks great on you! I read a review on MUA that said it was OTT sparkly, but your swatches don’t look that way. It’s sold out on Nordstrom.com already….could be a good thing 🙂

    • the Muse

S a little sparkle but not over the top at all wow….unless I’m just immune?! 😀

  • Paris B

I love this one too! Its so versatile depending on how you use it and I think it works great on all skintones. Ran a review just last week and glad to know you’re loving it too 😀

  • Amy

The blush looks so natural. I love it, it looks amazing on you. Definitely going to have to try this blush out!

  • The Beauty Alchemist

One of the Spring highlights for sure, this is so pretty . Seeing as it’s more pink on you than peach though , make me happy since that means it’s less likely to be for me and therefore less $$. Guerlain knows how to do elegance and quality. Always tops.

  • jackieg02

Ugh, I want this too. You’ve been hitting me up hard with all these recent Guerlain posts, lol. I need a raise!
    <3 you!!!

    • the Muse

LOL jacks ;-D demand a raise either that or we hit the antique for our road trip! ;D!

  • Robin

It looks absolutely stunning! SAKS had it for $67.00 but no longer available online. Where did you get yours Muse?

    • the Muse

Hi Robin Neiman Marcus hun! Some dispute about the cost, haven’t been back to Neiman’s since purchasing but curious if indeed they made some error with my $46 price?! ;-D

  • Kristina

Agreed, looks great on you! It’s gorgeous and I want it! I’m not going to get it either tho just because I already have about 10 blushes and how fast can one use up a blush?
Unless… you tell me that a couple of these shades could double as eyeshadows… Then it would be worth it!

  • Mary the Muse Militant

    You look truly glowing !
The colours and the compact are so gorgeous.
BTW, you look very nice in black.

  • Jennifer

I bought this too! it’s too pretty to use so i haven’t touched it yet 😀

Just wondering, what kinds of products (their specific names?) have you thought of or actually BOUGHT a backup of??

  • UrbanWarrior

Unfortunatelly the blush is $67 (+tax) and not $46 like you wrote in your review 🙁 When I first read it I got all excited, went running to saks.com and sadly realized it must be just a typo? 🙁

The blush is so gorgeous, but the price is waaaay too steep for me 🙁

    • the Muse

urbanwarrior I noticed online it is $67 I got it at my neiman marcus counter and my receipt states $46 hope this helps.

  • Shayne A

This looks amazing on you!!! It sculpts your cheekbones & gives you that “I just had the most amazing sex of my life!!” kind of flush. Just gorgeous ~ I may have to purchase this one.

  • Randi

I love your blog. However, that blush is $67, where did you get it for under $50. I tried it in the store and liked it, but can’t justify the $70 for blush

    • the Muse

Neiman Marcus Randi, my receipt says $46 but I’m noticing online it says $67. Hope this helps.

  • Robin

I can see why you like this blush, because it seems you favor blushes that make you look like you just came in from the cold. Of course, you’re such a pale porcelain princess, almost any blush will make you look like you came in from the cold! Especially now! lol

I’ve been craving Rouge G lipsticks lately. I’ll be looking for your reviews on those after I finish this post.

    • the Muse

hi robin oh gosh not so pale though I wish I can lay claim to porcelain skin ;-D I’m more medium fair, beige under tones ;-D Rouge G are amazing ;D! so expensive though ouchie!

  • Donna

This looks perfect for you. It’s subtle, like it’s really the way your skin is all the time. It just brightens up your face with a very natural glow, instead of using blush to make it look like you came in from the cold or were exercising.

I was bopping around reading some of your old posts and smirked when I read that one commenter begging you to bring back a L’Oreal primer. Then there was a similar post with pictures of the display the primer came from… and that same commenter was begging you to bring it back there too! Then I laughed my ass off. OMG, too funny. Some people are just lost on the internet.

  • katrosado5

Oh this is gorgeous! I want this and I’ll buy it. I have to order online though it’s too difficult to fight the tourists to get downtown and pick up something at the mall. Muse your eyeliner looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G in that top picture my dear. THAT is a good look friend!

  • zaag

i have to say this blush perfectly matches you! it’s so pretty! and suttle!

  • idgebrit

Wow, where did you get it for $46? I see it advertised everywhere for $67!! Thanks so much in advance.

    • the Muse

got it at Neiman Marcus Idgebrit…noticed that it is advertised as $67 but got my receipt here and it says $46!

  • pamela

Muse, when i saw the colors of the compact, i did not think that the colors would have flattered your skintone BUT you look fabulous! your little cheeckies look so happy! no wonder you want a back up! i would, too! so pretty! benefit georgia peach does that for my cheeks and i have 2 back ups so i understand how you feel! that could be your HG!

    • the Muse

aw geez thanks pamela you’re way nice to say so! ;-D georgia is a great one ;-D! bit I have to admit to adoring Coralista and Bella Bamba more ;D! did you try those?!

  • Nia

I caved and bought it (got it for a great price) and I adore the texture.

Too bad that it needs a bit of work, it’s super-pigmented 😉
