MAC Wonder Woman Lipstick Review, Swatches, Photos

The MAC Wonder Woman Lipsticks are an interesting lot of colors which make me puzzle over why MAC decided to go with these shades.

Let’s have a look!

None of the shades speak the language of our Super Heroine to me in all honesty outside of Russian Red which definitely has that all American girl, Woman Woman vibe. Russian Red is an intense blue red matte which many swear by, sadly, I personally can’t pull off such a shade. Instead of a Super Heroine, I’d look more along the lines of Bozo with this bad boy in place. But if you’re wanting to check it out you can sheer it down with some gloss and make it wearable for sure.

The stand out for me was Marquise d’ which is a creamy peach. Again, this is a little hard for me to pull off but I’m going to have a fun time trying as it’s a nice nude shade of peach which will look wonderful paired up with brighter cheeks. It could prove a bit corpse bride like on some, including me, but fairer skin might see the joy here.

Spitfire is a creamy magenta that darker skin tones will love and Heroine is a bronz-y brown. I’d love it if Heroine would work on me but I find the color doesn’t look natural with my medium fair skin.

Packaging is an ode to comic books standards and you’re either going to love that geeky aspect or hate it. Personally I’m impartial, I do not like it nor do I dislike it, I do think it is what Woman Woman is about, that kinda All American red, white, and blue theme you’ll see marching through the rest of the items in the collection.

I didn’t feel any of the lip shades were must have but you might feel one or heck all four are for you. I just didn’t find any of them particularly unique or really fitting for Woman Woman herself. They are seem an ickle difficult to pull off in all honesty…..

What do you think after seeing the photos and swatches?

Any must haves here?

Well to tell the truth I’m not impressed with the whole collection, bad colours, cheap packaging… I usually buy some stuff from the collections, but this one oh my gosh is awful, but I think it’s good for my wallet for once, I’m waiting impatiently to see the collections quite cute, daisy and surf baby, for the rest I’ll definitely pass!

Cindy I like Heroine alot but can’t pull it off completely ;-D have to sheer it out a bit. It’s a gorg color though!

      • Cindy

It’s indeed a gorgious color, but before i buy it, i have to see it i.r.l. in the store, and def. need to swatch it on my lips.
I think i can have this color, i’m medium/medium-tan, and wear a lot of brown lipsticks.

        • the Muse

if you normally wear alot of browns Cindy this might be a good one although it does have a bronze-y metallic finish so def try before you buy :D!

The color reminds me a bit of Antiquitease, that’s one of my favourite lipsticks 😉

I was so excited about WW getting some love, but i agree that these colors are a strange choice other than the red. I would even go as far to say that they maybe should have considered 2 different reds or explored the many eras of WW– the coral red color that Lynda Carter wore in promo pics for the old show is a perfect shade, or a deep plum like the really vintage WW. It would have been great if they even went over the top and cartoon-y, like the packaging, and brought out a gold lipstick or gloss.

    Thanks for swatchin’!

my pleasure bev. I agree, more reds would be interesting or even a coral-ish red. The peach I understand as it makes sense to include a nude shade as WW’s lips are sometimes bare in the comic books thus the peach does mimic that “look” however the rest of these shades are a tad mismatched to me. What’s the bronze represent? The shades aren’t really themed so well!

haven’t been a big fan of the ww collection….but i think the packaging on these are really cute…not really a fan of the colors though, so it’s looking like i’ll be skipping over this collection entirely =\

Spitfire is gorgeous! I’d rock that in a heartbeat, but I refuse to spend that much money on a lipstick.

I find the packaging atrocious – the solid red cap is killing what could have been a cute idea.

As the comic book fan, the utility belt made me both giggle and squeal in delight ><

    • the Muse

hey rainbow same here I kinda really thought it was cute but I prob would never actually wear it lol!

  • Laura

Muse, can you do some side-by-side shots to compare sizes? Like put one of these lipsticks next to a regular, WW lipglass next to a regular, MSF next to a regular, etc? I know these are all supposed to be bigger, but it’s hard to see that out of context. Thtanks!

    • the Muse

hi laura the lipsticks are the regular size. I did a comparison shot of the MSF versus a normal sized compact already in the review post 😉 Hope this helps.

and the lipglass review is scheduled for later today which has a comparison shot between a regular versus the “wonder” size. Hope this helps!

Wow! It is more beautiful than the other! Heck, I think it will take for me to see in person! Already on my list of wishes!
