Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipgloss Review, Swatches, Photos

For Spring 2011 Rimmel has introduced an extension to its Moisture Renew Lipstick in the form of a Moisture Renew Lipgloss.

I’m not a fan of the lipstick sadly however those that are might find that the gloss is a good one to follow up with when using the lipstick however it does hold its own in the pigment department for wearing by itself if you so please.

I kinda have a love hate relationship with it at the moment after trying it out.

Here are my thoughts!

A gloss that sports a formula with moisture boosting collagen, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins to create a formula that reduces dryness up to 95%.

This is available in 14 shades for as little as $6 so maybe budget fans may find it’s a great one particularly if you like full coverage glosses as the shade I tried in SOS Red leaves behind excellent color pay off.

Quite chuffed with the applicator as well which saturates well with product and applies smoothly and evenly onto lips. A single swipe from the applicator yields excellent pay off and easily builds up color.

Gloss formula is lightweight and wears decently at around 3 hours however I feel like it needs a touch up around the 4th hour in. The gloss feels quite moisturizing and hydrating on my lips and I’m less likely to lick my lips when wearing it since it has a very interesting formula. It’s not like your traditional sticky, tacky gloss nor is it a more shiny, watery gloss. It does sport a silicone-like somewhat lighter in texture to that of L’Oreal Infalliable Lipgloss formula.

This is probably where my rant comes in…

I don’t feel like the gloss feels as comfortable as other glosses in my collection. It wraps lips up in a strange silicone glove that doesn’t feel entirely great on my lips. I’m not sure what it is that I’m not liking about the formula but it just feels all wrong to me…

  • Anyone wanting an inexpensive full color gloss in a variety of shades.
  • Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick fans.

  • Anyone wanting a gloss that wears crazy long (I felt like this was short wear at around three hours).
  • Anyone who prefers a more sticky, tacky gloss that adheres and wears longer.
  • Anyone who prefers a highly moisturizing lipgloss experience (this feels hydrating on but also has a weirder, uncomfortable background feel that I’m not keen on).

I think Moisture Renew Lipstick fans will absolutely love this without a doubt but those who tried the lipstick and didn’t fall for it, I imagine you won’t love the gloss either. It’s ok overall but it didn’t really have me doing cartwheels in excitement. There’s something off and strange about the overall finish of the product and I’m not particularly keen on the fact that it doesn’t leave crazy shine or glossiness behind. Those on a budget might appreciate the overall price and variety however why forsake formula for those things when there are 100’s of other lipglosses at the drugstore that have way better formulas?

I personally didn’t like this one sadly.

How about you?

Anyone try it?

Love it?
