If the Smashbox In Bloom Eyeshadow Palette proves as good as the few pieces I’ve tried from their Spring 2011 Collection, I’ll be a happy camper indeed.
I know some of you purchased it, what’s the good word?
I haven’t tried it yet but I did try out the Smashbox In Bloom Creamy Cheek Duo, In Bloom Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss, and In Bloom Artificial Light Powder.

In Bloom promises some very natural, pretty shades of light color for the Spring season. Slap me happy with the items I have tried so far.
First off the In Bloom Creamy Cheek Duo is simply divine. I don’t normally love cream blushes as I prefer powder but these shades are too good to pass up and they give a gorgeous glow to my face and cheeks. The two shades are best used when cocktailed together in my opinion as it creates a soft focused shade of peach on my cheeks but can easily build up to a popping coral with a heavier hand. Formula is a tad tacky but runs thin and blends out easily for a good five to six hours of wear. The first shade is a dusky peach rose and the other a deeper shade of rose, when combined they come across very warm and lively on cheeks!
In Bloom Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss in Endless Kiss is a very sheer, nearly transparent shade of rosy peach. This isn’t the best gloss formula I’ve tried from Smashbox however it seems to compliment the overall look very nicely. Although the slanted, flocked applicator does saturated well with product it seems to apply very dryly to my lips and needs a bit of a build up but once in place it gives a very subtle touch of tint to my lips that pairs up well with the creamy cheek duo!
And finally In Bloom Artificial Light Luminizing Powder is a sheer champagne white gold. This can be dabbed anywhere you wish to highlight including cheeks, brow bone, etc….I used it as an all over color wash on my lids and it woke my tired eyes up while leaving behind a hint of sparkle.
Wasn’t particularly keen on the gloss formula here but found it made up for the bad formula as seemed to pair up well with the overall natural look!
- Anyone who wants a lightweight, natural, “I’m not wearing makeup” look!
- Those seeing a fresh look for Spring!
- Anyone who isn’t keen on warm shades of color (the creamy cheek duo leans towards being warmer).
- Anyone who isn’t keen on subtle, natural looks (if you want bold this isn’t the way to go!).
In Bloom proves one of those collections that is worth having around for a barely there makeup looks that’s fresh, flawless, and incredibly lightweight or at least the pieces I tried out from the collection give off that vibe. At first I thought it might prove an uneventful collection but try not to overlook it as I do believe my FOTD photos included in this post more than speak for how lovely the collection is and what a fresh look it can impart. I was so impressed that I ended up really developing a rather strong lemming for the eye palette….must explore it once it reaches store!
Moral of this story is you probably shouldn’t overlook In Bloom if you’re a lover of a fresh face!
Loves it!
Quite Muse Approved for purchase! It has a few essential items that might be worth a haul. Mind you if your Spring list is long perhaps wait for a sale at Smashbox and haul it than but definitely add it to your list!
