Stila Live from the Red Carpet Glamour Goddess Palette Review, Swatches, Photos

I’ve been busy fiddling around with the Stila E! Live from the Red Carpet Palettes that I got for virtually free thanks to their awesome reward programs! Yay!

As you know from my prior post Glamour Goddess was the one that was really appealing to me even though I hauled all three. It’s the warmest of the three and I’m just a great lover of golds so this was fitting for me.

Let’s check it and find out if the quality actually lives up to Stila quality or if these veer towards the Travel Palette route.

Check it!

In all in one palette for lips, eyes, and cheeks that features warm shades of color!

These mimic the long gone Stila Look Books in size and style. If you’re old school you probably know the exact ones I’m talking about although back than the books contained four shades of color and were a whopping $40 each. Times are a changing and you get double the amount of product at a price of $25.

Sweet!

Although some of you were a bit weary that the formula might prove to be the lighter, lower calorie version of Stila eyeshadows that make an appearance in the Travel Palettes with such a tiny price tag the good news would be they rock.

Not only do they feature the Stila girls in the packaging department (yay! glad to have ’em back) but they have quite a good formula to work with.

The Glamour Goddess Palette includes:

Eyeshadows:
Glitz – pale golden beige, base shade
On the List – pearly beige, lid shade
Golden – warm gold, liner shade
Flash – light peach with shimmer, base shade
Star – bronzy peach, lid shade
Glam – deep bronze, liner shade

The palette also includes:
All Over Shimmer Powder in Kitten
Convertible Color in Glamour
Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Lionfish

With this amount of product you can create any number of looks but Stila arranges it to create two complete eye looks in very simple steps of highlight, crease, and lid. Application is a breeze and you don’t need major makeup skills to create the look. The colors are all gorgeous although the two matte shades of Star and On the List aren’t as user friendly in my opinion but that’s due to their matte finish not the formula.

The shadows all sport the creamy, silky, velvety texture that we’ve all come to know and love about Stila’s eyeshadows. They didn’t forsake any quality here and you’re getting a full course of their normal eyeshadows here all gorgeously pigmented, all easy to blend, and all with a brilliant formula. I admit, I was worried that they might lean more towards the Travel Palette range but they do not, they are perfect and dare I say even better in terms of fall out and frostiness compared to some full size shadows I own from Stila.

The shades are all truly gorgeous in this palette and you’re pretty much going to adore it if you love bronzes, browns, peaches, and dirty gold shades as this contains a healthy dose of all those shades.

The Convertible Color included is a dusty shade of brownish, bronze rose which can be used on lips and cheeks. You also get a full size Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in a shimmering bronze golden brown. Love this shade and pairs up wonderfully with the palette!

Sadly, I personally did not like the Kitten All Over Shimmer. This is way frosty, way sparkly, and way shimmery. I avoided using it on my face as it simply felt like putting Kitten Eyeshadow on my face. It was way pigmented but I do not have the skill or no how to highlight correctly so I safely skipped and avoided looking discoball like since my camera picks up the shimmer in a major way. I’ll probably use it as an eyeshadow but avoid on my face.

I didn’t love the matte shades in this palette and felt they could have been replaced with a velvety shade instead but none they’ll be welcome by matte lovers to lessen the load of too much shimmer.

  • Anyone who wants a solid eye, cheek, and lip palette to travel with.
  • Anyone who wants more for less ($25 is a still for the set).
  • Makeup newbies who want a palette that’s easy to use (simple instructions included on the inside cover of the palette makes application a snap).
  • Anyone who wants sophisticated, golden makeup for day or night wear!

  • Anyone who isn’t keen on frosty, shimmer shades of shadow.
  • Anyone who doesn’t sport warm looks well.

I absolutely loved this and felt it was a leg up for the brand. They recently veered in a new budget direction which I love but the new, lower price tag made the quality and formula suffer very slightly however this palette brings back to the table what Stila is all about and still manages to keep the price rather nice. Overall, the palette was a real winner for me and worth a haul in my humblest particularly if you wear warm shades well! The cardboard palette is sturdy and travels easily and well for those who need an elegant makeup look to tote around with them on a holiday or business trip!

Loves it!

Rats, I was hoping you would say it sucked 😛 Stila shadows are my one of my favorites (excluding the cheapo versions they used on the travel palettes) and these palettes look travel-friendly! Thanks for the review 🙂

    • the Muse

I was hoping the same thing! I didn’t want to want these things, but now I do. Oh well…My no buy will just have to wait until I can snag this (and maybe a few extra things). 🙂

Ohhh my!! (Jumping with joy) this looks LOVELY!! Where can I purchase?

  • katrosado5

I think I’ll go ahead and get this one. I won’t be putting shimmer all over my face though LOL. That’s a no-go here. I’m getting a bit tired of so much shimmer, someone needs to come out with a matte pallete every once in awhile. So we can switch it up. Nice colors here though I like the way they look on you muse! I’m warm and if something looks good on you for some reason when I try it – I get good results.

I wish Stila would get the message Kitten is not this all flattering color they claim it is. It’s not really that wonderful on brown skin. Wish they would have included a color that truly looks good as a highlight. Who wants shimmer all over her face? I may get it because the liner is 20 dollars anyways so in my mind it’s not a bad price.

    • the Muse

sara you can always use it as a shadow if you wish to avoid on the face ;D

I think this palette looks best on those with a fair to light skin tone. For me it works great because the tones work well with my hair and eye color. I agree that kitten is not for everyone though it does work well for me. I love the cream blush in this palette and it looks great on the lips as well.

Thank you for the good and thorough review! I see that this was posted almost a year ago, but I just purchased this palette now. I got mine on sale at Beautybar.com for 14.00. I love Stila’s smudge sticks but dont already own the Lionfish shade. Since the smudge sticks alone sell for 20.00, I feel I got a great bargain.

I really love your blog. Your reviews are informative and very well done. I like that you not only swatch the products but also have the pictures of you wearing the products. I find that very helpful.

    Thanks!
