Hourglass Cosmetics Aura Sheer Lip Stain Review, Swatches, Photos
Hourglass Cosmetics introduced three shades of their new Aura Sheer Lip Stain for Spring 2011. I told you about these a few days ago and had a chance to try one out this week.
My thoughts are Hourglass created these to last through beauty battles, the makeup Apocalypse (should it occur), and your daily day.
They weren’t kidding when they said long wear.
Whoa.
A water-based lip stain that envelopes lips in a sheer wash of color.
This is getting raving reviews across the Blogsphere and on Sephora so it was about time I checked it out myself to see if the good word was truth or fiction.
This is possibly the longest wearing lip stain I have ever used and believe me I have used plenty as stain is a part of my daily makeup regime. If you’re looking for long wear Hourglass has you covered.
The stain comes housed in a click style pen with a small slanted sponge applicator that fits the contour of lips beautifully well. I tried out the shade Scarlett which is a berry plum. The shade is extremely pigmented but can be used sparely for a more natural flush of color or built up in intensity for a deeper “I just sipped a glass of wine” shade.
The formula is semi-matte but not drying and with a little gloss slicked on top you’ll be good to go all day even after your gloss has worn away the color will remain until you remove it. Truly when they say stain, they mean stain. I can go eight hours straight with gently or boldly flushed lips without a touch up in between. The formula is something to behold in the realms of lasting through possibly epic makeup battles or just your average day at the office!
Price is $26 but with a formula like this I’m doubtful makeup junkies will mind the splurge considering a little will take you through your entire day!
- Those who love and use lip stains but always wished they stick around for longer wear.
- Those who aren’t really up for the hassle of lip touch ups throughout the day (wear it through the day, drink with it on, eat with it on, and watch it stick around for hours on end).
- Those who want a stain that can be applied for a flush of natural color or built up for a pop of drama!
- Those averse to lip stains (if you don’t like lip stains or using them this isn’t for you).
Count me surprised. I was a little hesitant because of the price as I think the most I’ve spent on a stain was 20 bucks but after having a little test run with this my only rant is the fact that it comes in three shades. Hourglass please can we have more variety?
Love!
Will indulge in the other two shades shortly so expect some swatches shortly!
