Korres Wild Rose Mineral Foundation Review, Swatches, Photos
When Bare Minerals started breaking out on the scene I was all about trying it myself. Flawless, lightweight coverage? Yes please! Now this was years and years ago, I’m talking about infomercial days. I instantly ordered a kit, proceeded to get it, and was sorely disappointed at how awful it was.
Till this day I’m a big fan of what Bare Escentuals has become but still can’t tolerate their mineral foundations.
I’m now always quite wary of trying out new mineral foundations, they simply aren’t my bag, but I was curious about the new Korres Wild Rose Mineral Foundation for a number of reasons plus I love and trust the brand so if anyone was going to excel at mineral foundation it had to be Korres right?
Let’s have a look!
A talc-free, 100% natural loose powder foundation with brightening Wild Rose extract.
This particularly sounded appealing due to the brightening Wild Rose extract as I had hopes it would ease dullness. It also promises to diminish fine lines, wrinkles, and even out skin tone.
It’s possibly one of the more pricier products from Korres at $28. I’m so used to cheaper makeup and product offerings from Korres I admit that the price had my mouth hanging up ever so slightly.
It has an SPF 30 which definitely get props from me as that’s quite a nice dose of sun protection.
The foundation is getting rave reviews all around but for me it wasn’t such a rave….
I have to admit I was perplexed that they included a sponge with the foundation. Why? I can only assume they though it would be an easier solution for bacteria issues as you can easily wash the sponge but does anyone honestly apply minerals or powders with a sponge? Application with a sponge is impossible, I tried. I thought that this would produce some new and interesting effect during application but all it succeeded in doing was tugging across my face and applying the foundation in a patchy, splotchy way.
I proceeded to try with both a kabuki and a puff but nothing really redeemed the formula. The creamy texture that Korres promised just isn’t there and the powder makes my face look rather tired and mask-like. You can tell I have makeup on which isn’t the effect anyone wants.
- Those with oily skin may fine the joy here.
- Those who have smooth, normal skin.
- Those with dry skin or an uneven skin surface to work with (this will apply patchy and uneven).
- Those wanting lightweight coverage (this didn’t feel light at all but quite heavy to me).
- Those who haven’t had success with mineral foundation in the past (the formula isn’t groundbreaking in the realms of mineral foundation so if you’ve tried minerals before without success you’ll find this produces the same results overall).
I personally didn’t love this one but its gotten quite a good deal of rave reviews perhaps it’s just my skin at the moment as I’m quite dry in this Winter air. The finish of the product was very unflattering and just seemed to make my dull skin even more dull. I felt like I had makeup on and looked like I had on it too which accounts for two major “do not wants” when it comes to my base products.
Overall, Korres Wild Rose Mineral Foundation wasn’t a fav. I’m quite saddened as I’ve never had to give Korres a bad review before but this one simply wasn’t doing the trick.
Anyone try it?
