Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Mineral Correcting Primer Review, Swatches, Photos

I’ve technically already reviewed the new Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Mineral Correcting Primer but that was the Pink Highlighter version so I thought I’d take some time out today to discuss the Nude shade with you.

Let’s have a look!

In all in one primer with SPF.

I pretty much loved the Pink version and the same goes for the Nude. If you’re not a fond fan of silicones in your primers you’ll adore the creamy, hydrating finish of this product. It smooths on beautifully well and leaves behind a protective layer between your skin and your base makeup allowing it to remain fresher for a bit longer.

The benefit of the product isn’t only the fact that it keeps my foundation in place for an extra hour or two but also the fact that it eases my dullness a bit and brightens my skin up plus it offers a bit of sun protection in the form of SPF 15.

It comes in a convenient click pen so you can twist, swipe on with the included brush, and blend out easily plus it travels easily in this style packaging.

I like the hydrating feel of the product as my skin is dry plus silicone tends to irritate my skin so this is a makeup God sent.

I don’t see a noticeably huge difference in my makeup wear but I’d say it adds a little extra life on and perhaps an hour or two more of coverage before my base oxidizes.

The product does a good job of multitasking a few different tasks although it doesn’t master any one of them in a major way it still comes across brilliantly well at this price and does a fair job of prepping, priming, holding makeup in place, protecting skin, and ease dullness while brightening skin.

The brush applicator isn’t removable and may make those squeamish about bacteria a little wary with continued use. You can avoid it by simply swiping product from the brush with clean fingertips rather than directly onto your skin using the brush.

  • Anyone who wants a brighter complexion.
  • Those with a bit of dullness that need a base to brighten up their skin.
  • Those seeking to extend their foundation wear.
  • Anyone who likes a hydrating facial primer.

  • Anyone who doesn’t like click style pen applicators with attached brushes that are difficult to clean.

I continue to put my support behind these primers and definitely think they deserve a look at. Like the Pink Highlighter version, it did a great job prepping and priming my skin and just creating an overall flawless finish for my base makeup. At the price tag ($10.95 with a mail in rebate to get back your full purchase amount) you can’t really beat this beauty budget pick. After trying out both the Pink and the Nude I’m not sure I can see too much difference between the shades other than the fact the Pink seems to brighten my skin up a tiny little bit more than the Nude version.

Likey lots!

Anyone try these new primers yet?

i find it keeps the shinies away for a little bit longer too – always a plus!

I’m pretty dry at the moment Alexandra so I’m not sure how well it’ll work at mattifying, will have to test in the Summer to see. It doesn’t feel particularly matte to me and might not control oil all that well.

Hey muse, do you think the nude and pink primer are similar in easing the dullness? Do you plan on trying the green primer as well?
Thanks for the great job as always :]

    • the Muse

hi christy, I actually put on the bottom what I thought the differences between the two were hope this helps 🙂 my pleasure! No, as I don’t have any redness so I wouldn’t be able to test it well enough to tell anyone if it was or wasn’t working! Sorry! 😛

  • S

Wow, is this silicone FREE??? I can’t wear most primers b/c silicones dry my skin out like nobody’s business; but if these are w/out I am all over them!

  • savannah

I have tried both and they made my skin look nice even without foundation! Thanks for always keeping me updated on new beauty products, Muse.

    • the Muse

that’s fantastic Savannah ;-D I’m liking this alot myself! aw my pleasure dear!

  • kris

I keep forgetting to take mine out to use it. Thanks for the post, I am putting this by my morning makeup and will report back.

  • tasha

I want to check this out. I have dark spots on my chins due to acne.. I have hormonal imbalance. Do u think the green shade would help? Thank u in advance.

    • the Muse

I’m not sure tasha. I didn’t try the green version so not sure how will it’ll work at concealing redness/darkness hun! Sorry 😛

  • Becky

I’ve tried the pink and have combo skin w/ oily t-zone.. unfortunately it doesn’t help much in that department (I know it’s not advertised to help control oil). It looks really great at first but after few hours, I totally look like shiny. 🙁 I’m really low on Smashbox Photofinish Light primer and was hoping to find a cheaper alternative or just a different one (always on the search for bigger and better things!). For now, since I’m so low, I’ll just use the Smashbox on my t-zone and the Pink one on my cheeks. LOL

becky I’m pretty dry so didn’t experience that 🙁 sorry to hear it! try out the NYX HD one, I’m loving it at the moment!

i picked this up after you reviewed the pink shade, thinking that was the one i was buying (i was in a rush =\) It didn’t make me any brighter or correct anything, but i did think it was a pretty good primer, i definatly like the ones WITH silicone better, but its always good to be a little more natural, i suppose…i wish i had just bought the pink originally, because now i’m so just blah with this one I haven’t decided if I want to go back to get it =\

    • the Muse

hi p! sorry to hear it. I noticed that my dullness was eased a little tiny bit but nothing dramatic. I can’t do silicone so this is def a good one for me ;-D

  • Kylie

Hahahahaha, you are SO helpful! After reading your initial post on the Pink highlighter, I went out to buy the Nude (I don’t need highlighting; I need more keeping my makeup lasting on my oily, oily face)! I figured since you raved about the Pink, the Nude might be good as well. 😀 I haven’t had the chance to use it yet, but this review eases me so much. Let’s hope it works for me. Thankfully, I got it with the Rebate so I purchased it for free! Woo hoo!

    • the Muse

yay kylie, free makeup w00t girl! ;-D keep me posted curious whatcha think hun!

  • kris

you know, i am not sure if i actually need a primer….can’t see the effects. i like the idea though!

  • jane

i rinse my brush with water after use and let air dry. the concept with the brush is good but it does seem like a germ magnet. too bad.

Thank you for recommending this! After I read on one of your primer reviews that silicone based primers made you itchy, I proceeded to read the rest of your primer reviews, because it does the same to me (even though my skin is probably best described as normal when behaving, and combo when irritated). I’ve swatched a decent number of silicone based primers, and all of them feel horrid. I tried this one, and it feels quite lovely. Hopefully my skin will appreciate it.
