I’ve been waiting to check out the Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Eye Primer since its release. I’m pretty sure it was the name that captured my interest at first glance, Doll Skin? For some reason it conjures up images of perfectly porcelain faced dolls with flawless skin.

A long lasting eye primer that keeps your eye makeup from creasing and fading.

Part of the appeal of Tarina’s Sephora exclusive makeup collection is definitely the packaging. The primer comes housed in a silver and pink tube which is quite pretty!

Inside you’ll find a creamy nude shade of eye primer and a sponge tip applicator for application. The primer is a creamy, beige shade that runs rather thick yet runny. It’s rather rich for a primer as I’m used to the thinner consistency of Urban Decay’s version. You’ll notice it brightens up the lid area a tiny bit upon application so it isn’t quite transparent upon dry down. It doesn’t mattify oily lids nor does it amp up the color pay off on shadows but it does manage to create a good base for them to adhere to particularly for those with drier eyes that need a more hydrating finish on their lid.

Sadly, I do suffer from minor creasing about 4 hours in. My normal primer keeps my shadow in place all day well into the evening however this showed minor signs of creasing within a four to five hour period. Nothing too dramatic but creasing was there sadly. My shadow did manage to hang on all day but the creasing was bothersome.

The thicker, creamier texture might not be an ideal pick for those with deeper creases on their lid and eye area, oily lids, or those with a less than smooth eye area.

• Those who have drier lids (this is quite thick and hydrating).
• Those who want a base that brightens up the lid every so delicately (this isn’t completely transparent so you can wear it on its own for a bit of brightening or a nude eye look).

• Those with oily lids, aging ones, or a less than smooth eye area to work with (this will crease badly in these situations).
• Those wanting all day shadow wear (I’d say you’re looking at five hours of wear before suffering some minor creasing).

I wasn’t particularly wow’ed by Dollskin Eye Primer sadly as the formula ran a tad too thick for my taste plus the creasing action I experienced was a deal breaker. It could prove a solid choice if you suffer from dryness on your lid or around your eyeshadow area but for those who are used to long wearing eye shadow thanks to a great primer may be disappointed with this formula.
