Tokidoki Gelato Lip Balm Stain Review, Swatches, Photos

The Tokidoki for Sephora Collection has four brand new Gelato Lip Balm Stains available. I assume these are replacing Fantastico Lip Stain which are on sale now for $10 bucks each, aw man, I liked those.

Let’s have a lookiee at these new little guys!

A lip balm with moisturizing and staining properties.

I picked up Donutella which features a sweet little unicorn however you can choose from two other shades or a clear balm if you like with other TokiDoki characters. Part of the appeal is obviously the packaging but I thought the $9 price tag was rather fabulous as well particularly because you’re not only getting great packaging here but also a quality balm.

The color is a sheer coral strawberry with a sweet berry scent however the scent isn’t nearly as fabulous or as strong as the one the Prisma Lip Gloss sports, it’s rather tame in comparison.

Essentially the balm is a glorified chapstick with a highly moisturizing formula that glides on easily and leaves behind a good deal of color along with a healthy amount of glossy shine.

The staining effect for the most part isn’t terribly incredible. After the balm wears away it leaves my lips a subtle shade of peach which is quite flattering however the effect isn’t incredibly long wearing and isn’t entirely noticeable unless you’re really looking!

  • Anyone who loves TokiDoki!
  • Fans of moisturizing lip balms with a hint of color.
  • Those looking for a quickie balm to smooth on that gives a natural color to lips.
  • Chronic lip product applicators (tuck one into your tote or desk drawer for a quick swipe of color and shine).

  • Those sensitive to flavor or fragrance in their lip products.
  • Those who like more “mature” makeup (if you’re easily embarrassed over packaging or have a classier taste in makeup you probably won’t find the joy in the kawaii packaging).

Other than wishing for more variety in the shade department (only four shades here) I liked the balm overall and welcomed it into my makeup for quickie touch ups on the go. For me the cuteness, packaging, and quality all matched up perfectly.

Loves!

I’m tempted into getting these, but I’m afraid of them melting in my pocket! Are they in any way soft like the Sugar Lip Treatment sticks? Those melt like crazy for me!

How adorable and so cute! My daughters will just adore these! The next time they have a really good promo coupon at sephora I’m going to get these for sure! One for each. I don’t think the price is steep for that packaging. My daughters will be so tickled!

I got one in the same shade ;D! I really like the color on my lips and the wear time isn’t too bad, I can go about 2 hours before having to reapply, and for $9, I can’t complain lol 😛

It did stain, but it was a very sheer flush of color. I actually like it tho, It gives a really nice natural look. If you want something more noticable, maybe try putting on a couple coats?

def cj ;-D I noticed with a few strokes I get a better pay off when it wears off ;D!

i bought this! i felt like the color was too strong for me, actually, lol – but i think it’s just ’cause i’m a wimp about lip color. so…it’s tucked away somewhere, because i’m not brave enough to wear it! haha.

really larie? I thought it was quite nicely pigmented but not TOO too much 🙂

the packaging is adorable I think I want to get this just because of the packaging

I’m in such a tight budget but thought I should indulge myself.

Got this in Donutella as well and love it. It actually really brightens my lips and I love the smell. Adios is my favorite character, and I almost got him, but I really wanted a bit of color payoff.

I went with my cousin and we were discussing that yes, I’m mostly paying for the cute cute packaging. I really wanted to buy the Prisma Lip Gloss, but after fighting with myself about it, though I LOVE the packaging, it wasn’t worth 15 dollars to me, not at this time. :'(

Good thing I didn’t since I just had a glance at my bank account. YIKES.

I guess sometimes it’s necessary to sacrifice (just a bit of) fabulousness for basic survival (food! rent!). lol

aww konayuki ;-D nine bucks wasn’t too bad eh? I wanted adios as well, he’s my fav too but I def wanted a bit of color ;-D who needs food and rent when we can have makeup! HA!

Is the Tokidoki Unicorn comes just this colour? Because I ordered glossy clear from Sephora online, it’s not unicorn 🙁 Sad

    • the Muse
