Avril Lavigne Forbidden Rose Review

Who even knew that Avril Lavigne had her own fragrance? I must living under a rock.

When I got my hands on the bottle recently it kinda reminded me of a goth-y, Emily the Strange type fragrance you could buy at Hot Topic as the bottle has a black rose topper and the perfume is purple. I like the bottle alot, totally appeals to my inner goth.

How’s the fragrance?

Jump!

Surprisingly good! I’m normally not a fond fan of celebrity fragrances as most aren’t all that good but I actually like Forbidden Rose.

I think I like the blend so much because of the woody notes that give the fragrance a warm, masculine edge. It kinda wraps you up in a boyfriend’s well worn shirt scent or at least that’s the vibe I get from it.

The fruity, floral notes can easily be picked apart at first mist and you’ll get notes of red apple and peach with strong notes of white lotus that morph the scent into a fruity floral concoction prior to its unique dry down. The scent begins with sparkling fruity notes but warms down to a base of vanilla and sweet praline with a strong woody undertone that emerges as the scent matures on your skin.

The scent is an unique, enchanting fragrance that reminds me of a warm hug from a beloved other.

The fragrance comes in shower gel, body lotion, spray deodorant and, of course, eau de parfum. I’ve only tried out the Eau de Parfum and enjoyed the throw and linger so it isn’t completely necessary to layer with this but nice to have other options available in the same scent.

Count me surprised, this was quite a nice fragrance.

Anyone sniff it?

Hey Muse! So I went to Kohl’s yesterday and tried the perfume. When I first sprayed it on my wrist, it was a fruity scent with a hint of like spice. It was nice enough but I wasn’t gonna get it. 15 minutes later in the checkout counter I smell this clean fresh fruity floral scent! I wondered wth it was and realized it was me! So I got out of line, ran back, and picked up a bottle 😛 Then later on at home I finally got that warm vanilla-ish “hug” scent that you wrote about. Oh and isn’t the ring that you get with it totally cute??

ha cj! ;-D so cool. At first it does go fruity and a little nasty, but it warms down to a cuddly masculine type scent doesn’t it? I love that you heart it ;-D Yup! ha! I forgot to mention the ring in this post ;-D!

Do you know any stores that sell her perfume? Or is this an online only thing?

  • Amber

She actually has 2 scents — Forbidden Rose and Black Star. I had to promote Black Star back when it first came out… it was all kinds of awful and gave me a headache most days. One of the main things in the Black Star one is Chocolate which I found strange. Thankfully I like FR much better — but I’ve had a few people tell me they think it smells like grape koolaid and bug spray mixed together, lol.

I didn’t know that amber ;-D! eww I hate chocolate-y scents! ha grape koolaid? I don’t get that at all, kinda goes warm and masculine on me ;-D no bug spray either thank god LOL

I really like this one better than her first fragrance and I agree, Muse, it is unique. I am contemplating purchasing it… 🙂

I didn’t know she has fragrance too! I should check if we have it here. I love the bottle though. It’s so pretty! I love the slight gothic feel! 🙂
