Benefit B.Right Refined Finish Facial Polish Review

I’m really loving on Benefit’s B.Right Radiant Skincare packaging. The products remind me of apothecary jars and bottles you’d find in an old time Pharmacy, one that served ice cream sundaes and had penny candies. They have a certain nostalgic whimsical design that makes me smile.

I’m been testing out some of the line recently and I’ll have a few reviews up shortly. Today I thought I’d start with the Benefit B.Right Refined Finish Facial Polish.

Let’s take a look!

A beautifully brightening exfoliator.

The scrub contains natural clay & seaweed extract rich in minerals, nutrients & sugars. It has a fresh, shampoo-like smell, kinda reminds me of Herbal Essence.

The formula is a pearlish white thicker cream with tiny exfoliating grains. One of the best things about the scrub are the sizes of the grains. I prefer smaller grains as they seem to do the best job buffing away my drier skin.

To use I simply wash my face as normal making sure all my makeup, any dirt, and oil is removed from my face and proceed to follow up with a little less than a quarter size amount of the Refined Finish Facial Polish. I use it on my damp face and proceed to gently buff it into my skin concentrating on areas that are the most dry in my case flaky areas. I massage for a minute or two per section. Take a little time to massage it in, don’t rush it as you’ll get the best results by patiently buffing it into your skin, not only with this product but any exfoliator.

After I rinse with cold water. Formula rinses clean away so you aren’t left with a weird film or any sticky, tackiness. It does reveal brighter, whiter skin as with any exfoliating treatment you’re guaranteed to come out of the experience with fresher, less tired looking skin, that’s a given. If you have clogged pores this should help buff away those pesky areas as well as remove flaky, dryness to reveal smoother skin.

I thought the packaging was pretty darling. It comes in a pastel green tube with what looks like a cork stopper. The cork stopper is adorable but it’s actually a screw lid upon closer in inspector.

At 4.5oz for $22 I thought it was pretty cheap by Benefit’s normal price range. I’ve been using it twice a week but I think once a week should prove plenty so it’ll last a go long while.

The bad part is it does make my already dry skin quite tight after a few minutes so I have to make sure I follow up with moisturizer right after. This probably isn’t the formula it’s just one of the downfalls of exfoliation for me as it happens with most all scrubs I use aside from ExfoliKATE.

I thought the scent was very pleasant but it could prove irritating to those with sensitive skin or those sensitive to fragrance in their skin care.

  • Those who like a finer grained exfoliating scrub for their face.
  • Those who have dry, flaky areas.
  • Those will dull skin (reveal a brighter complexion after one scrub!).

  • Those sensitive to scented skincare (the scent is pretty strong).
  • Those with already dry skin that aren’t really wanting that tight feeling after use (if you really dislike products that make you feel tight after use, this might not be for you).

Overall, Refined Finish Facial Polish is a nice scrub. Price wise I felt it was a pretty fair deal. I didn’t love the tighter feel I got after use but I’m not noticing any ill effects so long as I follow up with moisturizer after. It does a good job of exfoliating away my dry skin and reveals a smoother, brighter complexion.

Fans of Benefit will love this one. Those in the market for a new facial scrub might wanna take this one for a test drive but be aware if you’re sensitive, the smell is pleasant, but might prove too much for some.

The packaging reminds me of the sea, like a message in a bottle. It’s cute. Does the cork top screw off, or pop of?

It looks nice, I still have lots of my exfoliator (biore) left, but when I run out I’ll try this. Love benefit! Do you know if Sephora is going to stock this line?

    • the Muse

it unscrews Christine 😀 Isn’t actually a cork just painted like me ;-D! Def prob will, I find that Benefit launches on their site first and Sephora picks it up later ;D!

I do…I’m planning on swinging by Bloomie’s Benefit counter next week and getting the It’s Potent! eye cream and Total Moisture Face cream. My skin’s been blah lately and I’m wondering if it’s time to step up my skin regimen because of my age. (Okay, I just turned 30, but it seems like Pond’s Dry Skin cream isn’t cutting it anymore.)

    • the Muse

mc it’s time…LOL ;-D you’ll be ok 30…but once it tips to 31 things start heading down hill lol!

Looking good so far 🙂 Did anyone realize that all the products areant showing up on the website? Like the uhh toner and makeup remover and a few other things. Are they coming out like on a later date or something?

    • the Muse

really cj?! Looking on the site and I think I see everything so far, also sephora has in stock now too someone mentioned ;D

  • Colleen

I am so excited about this line! I just ordered the intro kit from the Benefit website. I like that I can try some of the items (this polish, the triple moisture cream, and the emulsion) before investing in full-size pieces (and prices). I appreciate it when companies do these kinds of try-me kits for skincare (Korres has some good ones too). Can’t wait for it to arrrive. Btw, the line is up on Sephora now too.

    • the Muse

thanks for the heads up colleen was wondering when it would hit sephora ;-D agreed the try before you buy full size option is always appreciated!

Hey gal, this sounds like the perfect facial scrub for me! I’ve been using Clinique’s Exoliating Scrub since I was a teenager. I should try this, and I love the packaging. Sweet!

  • Tammie

I love this stuff, I have the $12 sampler kit with this in it and if I get anything full size this may be it as I feel it makes the most difference in my skin. I do need a moisturizer though, but I have to choose if I want the Emulsifying one or the Total Moisture one…I could use SPF, even that small amount, since right now I use none, but the Total Moisture seems more luxurious and would fight the crazy dry/flaky areas better. Also I usually only wash my face at night, so it might be better to have a thicker cream that would soak in more…what do you think? I do like the Emulsifying one and have been using it in the morning before makeup…I dunno, I just can’t justify spending like $100 on face creams!!

Have you ever used the CURE ACQUA GEL (from Japan)?
I really need your opinion before I buy it!
Thank you! I love your site!
