Benefit B.Right Triple Performing Facial Emulsion Review
I was quite excited to check out the new Benefit B.Right Triple Performing Facial Emulsion simply because we don’t have many emulsions available to us in the US market. Emulsions are quite common amongst Asian skincare but I honestly don’t see many here in the US.
The only difference between a regular moisturizer and an emulsion would be the lighter formula that you get with an emulsion compared to the heavier one of a regular moisturizer. In most cases emulsions have gel-like formulas and most lack SPF. Benefit’s version contains an SPF 15 as well as a lighter formula.
Let’s take a look!
A lightweight moisturizer that hydrates, protects & comforts the skin with an oil-free formula.
Someone mentioned in my review of the Benefit B.Right Refined Finish Facial Polish that the bottles reminded them of a message in a bottle. I thought they had a bit of an old vintage pharmacy vibe going on but she was right, they do kinda remind me of a message in a bottle particularly the emulsion which comes housed in a glass bottle with a faux cork top.
I was a little worried about the bottle at first because I thought it was a tip and pour. Skin Food, a Korean brand, houses many of their emulsions in glass jars but with a tip and pour design that proves messy and cumbersome. Benefit thankfully went a step further and included a pump which depresses perfectly and allows just the right flow of product out of the jar for application. The glass could prove dangerous if you’re clumsy but it’s all out pretty on your vanity if you’re really a packaging junkie.
If you’re Asian or you’re just an Asian beauty junkie like me this probably won’t fit the mold for any emulsion you’ve tried from various Asian brands. Where as many emulsions are a gel-like affair this is actually a runnier cream that reminds me of lightweight SPF. It’s a pleasant formula but not a traditional emulsion or at least not one I’m used to by any means. The formula contains an SPF 15 which is nice however a higher SPF would be welcome but I imagine it would weight down the formula considerably. This has a pleasant fresh, shampoo-like smell and I’ve been trying for the life of me to figure out what exactly the B.Right Collection smells like and I’m leaning towards saying it kinda smells like Benefit B Spot.
Overall, it performs quit well. It won’t be great for very dry skin however it’ll prove ideal for Summer wear due to the SPF content and the lighter formula which absorbs easily and offers just the right amount of hydration without feeling oily or greasy. Those with oily skin will enjoy the non-existent feel of the moisturizer as well since it doesn’t have a heavy feel or an oily finish it merely leaves skin dewy to the touch and proceeds to keep the skin hydrated throughout the day.
Those sensitive to smell or those with sensitive skin might be a bit put off my the scent. It is very strongly scented. I personally love it but some folks pretty much like their skincare to remain fragrance free, in this case, you might want to head to a counter and sniff prior to heading into a purchase.
Those clumsy might not love the glass bottle as it could prove messy or dangerous should you drop it.
The SPF 15 is a bit too low to really garner my appreciation but I do understand a higher grade would weight down the beautiful, lightweight formula.
- Those seeking a lightweight moisturizer that keeps the skin hydrated throughout the day.
- Those with oily skin.
- Those with extra dry skin (if your skin remains dry all year round this might not be enough hydration).
- Those wanting a full on SPF with their moisturizer.
- Those who want packaging that bounces back (if you tend to drop things alot, be aware of the delicate packaging).
I liked Benefit B.Right Triple Performing Facial Emulsion and think it’ll make a fine choice for a lightweight moisturizer as the weather warms up. Benefit couldn’t have introduced it at a better time with Spring here and Summer soon on the way. It has a few quirks and I do think the scent might put a few folks off but overall I thought it was a nice choice for the warmer weather however I’d love them to shave off a few dollars from the $28 price tag as the bottle is a tad small at 1.7 oz for that price.
It’s available now at Sephora and www.benefitcosmetics.com
