Benefit Hello Flawless! Review Revisted with New Shades!

In 2009 Benefit introduced Hello Flawless! and I proceeded to shout Hello Gorgeous! as my skin rejoiced in the fact that I could wear a great powder without looking dry and flaky.

Ever after that faithful day Benefit Hello Flawless! remains an HG powder of choice for me.

Today I thought I’d introduce you to the new shades of Benefit Hello Flawless! and revisit my original review.

Jump!

Benefit is a fav brand of mine but it’s range of color is lacking for darker skin tones. Benefit heard your pleas and they have introduced new shades of Hello Flawless! to suit medium, olive, and darker skin tones. The range of color is now suitable for most all skin types with nine shades to choose from.

The new shades include What I Crave a toasted beige, I’m Haute for Sure (amber), and Too Fierce to Beg (nutmeg).

Since I already reviewed the powder in a prior post I thought I’d repost it here if you missed it the first time around but first here are the new shades photos (swatches will be uploaded shortly).

And now on to the review….

Benefit has succeeded yet again and has a big winner on it’s hands with it’s brand new Hello Flawless! Powder.

Fantastically good stuff. Count this Muse impressed!

I’ve used quite alot of powders in my day but I don’t think I’ve come across a richly pigmented powder as Benefit Hello Flawless! If you use a powder foundation you’re seriously going to want to give this a try as it truly covers literally EVERYTHING and possibly the kitchen sink too.

The powder is heavily pigmented but manages to remain light and natural on the face which is quite impressive for the Muse. Anything as pigmented as this powder would make me think twice as I’d worry it would appear cakey on my skin but nope, not the case. Flawless is the order of business indeed. The formula is gentle, light, and quite airy. I was a bit worried that my dry skin would look absolutely ridiculous with this on but no problems at all in that area. The powder applies and blends like a dream and creates flawless coverage without any caking, creasing, or flaking due to dry skin. It managed to control my oily forehead and stayed fresh for about four or five hours before I needed to head in for a touch up. Normally I don’t wear powder as a foundation but I did so today and I must say I was looking heavenly as you’ll notice from my photos below. Even my mate Martin mentioned that I was “glowing”!

Benefit Hello Flawless! has alot going for it in particular the fact that it contains SPF 15. Combining sun protection with a mattifying powder plus one pigmented enough to work as a foundation creates a star of a product. The compact is too cute with a “lit” makeup mirror on the cover and the words “Hello Flawless”. Flip it open to reveal a dual compact which has the powder on top and houses the brush and the sponge, yes indeed two applicators, underneath.

The powder gives the Burger King motto a whirl for it’s money! It’s “Have it your way” foundation powder! w00t! The basic concept of the powder is it works one of two ways by 1. using the brush to sweep on a thin layer of powder to combat oil, set makeup, or freshen your face up or 2. use the sponge applicator for full on flawless coverage and to cover spots, blemishes, or dull skin. The Muse tried it both ways and although brushing on the powder is fab for a quickie touch up I actually prefer application with the sponge as I felt like taking full advantage of such a pigmented powder (in this particular case more was less). There aren’t many ways to describe the results…flawlessness is the best way to put it, hence the name right? It seriously covers really well and creates a perfect canvas for makeup. Heck, I even used a tiny bit under my eyes and it covers up dark circles in a snap! I checked the ingredients and I don’t see any Talc which could account for why it wore so well on my face.

The beauty mark test! Now you see it, now you don’t!

Have it your way coverage!

The following photo is a makeup free Muse. As you can see my face is a bit dull, circles under my eyes, tired looking eyes, a few spots on my face, and my skin just isn’t looking amazing.

After a dusting of Benefit Hello Flawless! you can begin to see a bit of better looking skin but a bit more is needed.

After a full application of the powder my skin is absolutely perfect! Spots are gone, dark circles and tired eyes are brighter, the dullness of my skin is left glowing and beautiful!

Overall, I’m truly in love with Benefit Hello Flawless! and quite happy to Muse Approve it for purchase. You seriously need to give this one a try as it’s a winner. I’m looking forward to using this as my primary foundation come the Summer and I’m particularly delighted that even though it’s Winter and my skin is quite dry that I’m still able to take full advantage and look beautiful and gorgeous without any flaky grossness. Any certain dullness was quickly erased and I was left looking flawless.

larie not sure, they don’t say as such on their site…I don’t have a box in front of me at the moment to look through the ingredients sorry hun :-/

      • Larie

Thanks anyway 🙂 It’s so frustrating that in this day and age, companies still refuse to post ingredients on their site!

        • the Muse

my pleasure larie was googling to see what I can find. Honestly, I’m SUPER bad about ingridents as I really am not as conscious as I should be about what I am using :-/ I agree, they should have a small click down with the details! I know alot of Benefit products do have parabens just not sure about Hello Flawless eep!

  • Cait

Ah! I just bought the Make Up For Ever Duo Mat powder foundation because the girl at Sephora recommended it, but now I’m wondering if I should have gotten this instead! My skin is painfully dry and this looks like it works great on dry skin.

    • the Muse

Cait haven’t tried that one would compare for ya ;-D Hello Flawless I never had issues with even though I’m terribly dry 😛

      • Cait

Hm maybe I’ll buy the Hello Flawless and then return the Duo Mat if I like the HF better. Your skin looks so amazing in that last shot that I won’t be able to resist trying it out for myself haha 🙂

        • Cait

although honestly, your before shot is still better than my skin WITH makeup. haha

        • the Muse

hey cait ;-D try both! Sephora is so awesome with returns you can use ’em both, see which works best, and return the one that isn’t as good…only problem is you’ll be in deep trouble if you love both lol!

ahh not that good. lately my skin is dull as hell :-/

  • Kate

Call me convinced! I might try and get my hands on this as soon as my BE foundations (which I’m becoming increasingly irritated at) runs out.

  • Suheda

    Hi muse:)

What is the eyeshadow you are wearing in those pictures? It looks so sweet on you!

    Suheda

    • the Muse

Hi Suheda that was taken a bit ago but I believe Bobbi Brown Sparkle Shadow in Ballet pink ;D

  • Katie

I am new to your blog and am loving it! I was wondering if you think this product would be good at covering moderate acne??

    Thanks!

    • the Muse

hey katie. good to meet you! moderate acne, hmmm, yes, should do the stick as the powder is quite heavily pigmented. The best way to use it for heavier coverage is with the sponge rather than brushing it on 🙂

Although I would conceal the problems first and pat the powder on top for really extra cover 🙂 Hope this helps!

  • Cindy Hand

ah man! It was between this and the Oxygen (hourglass) powder and i got it instead on Sephora’s website! Def will try this next!

  • jackieg02

It really does look great on your skin. My current powder foundation is MAC Studio Fix Powder, which is nice. I will def have to try this when I run out of what I currently use.

  • Samantha

You look great!!! I just bought the MUFE F&B foundation but this is pretty tempting… What’s the finish like? Did you top it off with setting powder or leave it as is? 🙂

    • the Muse

thanks Samantha you’re too kind! Finish is smooth, not flaky or powdery if that makes sense. Very natural, lightweight. Nooooo setting powder on top would prove too much, prob make me look cakey so just this and of course the rest of my makeup such as blush, lippie, shadow…that stuff 😀

  • Kari

Oh Muse, you are creating a seriously bad lemming. My skin is pretty dry but I love my powders and this is dancing before my eyes as we speak…

    • the Muse

lol kari ;D! go check it out and play with it at sephora see whatcha think!

  • Jenna

I remember the first review! Spent ages looking for this after Reading it and decided against eBay as I wasn’t sure it would be genuine. Finally found some in a Sephora in Holland but the lady was SO rude because I picked the product up (apparently I wasn’t allowed to touch it?!) that I walked out without buying it! And now I want it again, fab review Muse but you’ve totally convinced me I can’t continue without this in my life, lol!

    • the Muse

awwwwwwwww Jenna you rock! that was a sweet comment ;-D! I hope you love it. If by some chance you’re a darker shade (as pictured) I can send you one of these to try out!

      • Jenna

Ha. just being honest! That’s really kind of you, not sure what shade I need to be honest as the woman at Sephora wouldn’t show me the different shades 🙁 I’m a MAC NC25, olive skin but not too dark, any idea? If you send me one of those I’ll have to send you something you like from Europe!

      • j3nn4

        Hi Muse
I just saw your post re: approving a whole heap of comments so thought I’d comment again..( I figured at the time you’d had second thoughts when you realised I wasn’t in the US!). But if not then I think Toasted Beige will match me best. I STILL haven’t got round to buying it!! I still avoid Sephora because of that rude lady, hee hee! p.s. if postage will be too much then that’s cool

  • suz

Hi muse!! Ive been using MAC studio fix going on… probably 10 yrs now lol. so im really curious about benenfit’s hello flawless!! have you used studio fix before?? which product do you like better? thanks!! 🙂

    • the Muse

aw suz I haven’t used studio fix I’m sorry chica. I wish I could compare :-/ but good question maybe someone can step up and speak for the differences 😀

    • Cait

I’ve used both Hello Flawless and Studio Fix now…I like the Hello Flawless much better…the SF isn’t as pigmented, and it makes me look a little chalky. the HF is smoother….I’m taking my SF back to MAC lol.

      • the Muse

yay thanks for updating cait. is it a nice flawless finish for you? loving the wear? ;-D I’m so happy it worked!

      • suz

Thanks for the input must & cait! ive been using SF for so long its gonna feel so weird switching!! its prob one of few basic things i never really switched because i couldnt find a good alternative. i agree on SF making you a bit chalky/dry. im going to try HF as soon as i use up my SF!! 🙂

  • Ryan

This looks lovely on you. Also, I always love your lip color choices.

  • lexi

could u help me with the application. i tried the sponge and a flat top brush and with both i looked ‘powdery” any tips?

    • the Muse

lexi trying wetting the sponge, squeezing it out tight, and apply it this way. or exfolilate prior, apply your moisturizer, spf and follow up with a good hydrating primer and follow up with the powder.
