Hello Kitty Charmmy Eyeshadow Stick Review, Swatches, Photos

Hello Kitty Charmmy Eyeshadow Stick is shadow stick available in 14 shades and the equivalent of what was a MAC Shadestick. Hello Kitty Beauty launched recently at Sephora and so far many of the products are getting rave reviews but I do think alot of that has to do with the uber cute packaging.

What do you think?

Let’s have a look at the Charmmy Eyeshadow Stick and decide if it’s the packaging or the makeup making the deal!

A cream shadow eye stick.

The Charmmy Eyeshadow Sticks are multitasking little divas as you can use them as an all over wash of color or as a base for your eyeshadow.

Used alone as a shadow they have a nice pigmented pop and a formula that’s creamy and blends easily. The shadow comes housed in a click style pen which you can twist to reveal color. Each shade features a dome design which fits the contour of my lid easily and can be blended upward with a simple tap of my fingertip. I only tried one shade but already I’m wanting more as the formula really does have a lovely finish and texture. Compared to a MAC Shadestick you’ll find that the shades lean towards being a bit more buttery and smooth in comparison. They seem to melt onto my lid and blend out so smoothly and easily or really you can easily apply it and leave it as it doesn’t need to be blended out since the formula seems to apply perfectly without any other fiddling about from me.

Although they are advertised as having a pearl finish I felt like the shade I tried, Fish Bowl, had a shimmering finish. The shade was a bright turquoise.

Worn as a base the shade created a nice solid layer for powder shadow to adhere to and give shadows a deeper color pay off however….

Worn alone or with shadow on top I felt they creased fairly quickly even with my favorite shadow primer in place. I can get about four hours in but heading into the fifth hour the formula tends to crease around the lid area and proceeds to migrate around a fair bit leaving an overall messy look.

  • Anyone who loved MAC Shadesticks.
  • Anyone who wants a cream shadow that works as a base and an all over color wash.
  • Those who love cream shades of shadow!

  • Those with oily lids (you may find the formula a little too creamy and feel it creases easily).
  • Those who want their shadow to stick around for 8 or more hours (they tend to crease a bit around the fourth hour in so be prepared to head in for a little touching up).

Although they creased on me a bit, I’m still going to go ahead and indulge in more shades as I felt the overall look was quite pretty and the creamy smooth formula just blended out oh so beautifully leaving behind such a gorgeous pop of color. I can easily cope with the creasing drama for a formula like this! Of course, the packaging featuring Hello Kitty is too cute too but don’t judge the makeup by that as you’re not only getting the kawaii packaging but pretty decent makeup quality to back it up!

Anyone try these?

I played with these in Sephira an at lest half of them the bullets had dislodged an were prone to falling out of the package which is not so impressive at the price. The color was okay and jus a wee bit creasy. I just can’t get excited, a shame because they had cute colors!

carrie, you prob ran into a problem because people are so careless with testers at sephora and they break things, smash them, etc…as I didn’t run into an issue with that, I imagine it’s people who have been testing them :-/

I always take that into consideration, but it still means that one-two drops and it could do that to me (and given how early I wake up in the morning it’s likely to happen sooner or later!) and I’d rather not deal with that, not when there are other products out there that are better 🙂

Hmm– I’ve been keeping an eye on all the new eyeshadow sticks that have been coming out. But, I’ll prob try the UD or NYX ones instead after reading this. Hopefully they won’t crease/migrate as much.

these are strictly meant for packaging and the hello kitty name, if these products had a different name there wouldnt be nearly as much hype. Oh well I love hello kitty! I would buy a bag of garbage if it had a cute hello kitty package around it! lol

hi courtney, I didn’t think they were garbage at all, I liked the formula 🙂 although the creasing was a pain 🙂

I bought two of these a few months ago and I have only used them once because of that whole creasing issue…

I’m glad to read this, I have an unholy compulsion to buy the “kimono” shade because it’s blue with copper sparkles but I always wondered about the wear time. I’ll skip it, it’s not meant to be
