Holika Holika Blackhead Sponge Magic Patch Review
I don’t get blackheads anywhere on my face but the tip and sides of my nose are their playground. Nose strips help but I have two pesky ones that make a permanent home on the tip of my nose. Those suckers are so deeply embedded I need a pick and a shovel to dig ’em out!
Dude, I have tried any and all products in the Asian market to remove them. I’ve come to the conclusion that Asia is more obsessed with nose blackheads than we are because they have all sorts of crazy ass stuff to remove ’em! My favorite? The Black Head Off Stick which is shaped like a chapstick and you literally sit and rub it on your nose like a balm, yeah, I totally tried that shiz and it convinced myself it worked (CLICK!).
Holika Holika Blackhead Sponge Magic Patch is a complete gimmick so I decided, “hey, a new blackhead gimmick, let me try it!”
Does it work?
A saturated sponge or pad that supposedly removes blackheads from your nose!
Well…I’ve tried liquids, gels, nose strips, and chaptsticks aka BlackHead Off Sticks but I’ve never tried a sponge…
The sponge is technically just a thicker piece of facial cotton soaked in essence or some magical blackhead remover potion! Oooo! Fifteen “sponges”, pads, strips…whatever you want to call ’em are housed in a jar. Inside you’ll find a little set of tongs that you can use to remove a strip so you don’t need to dig in their with your fingers, particularly helpful if you’re worried about germs, bacteria, etc…
The sponges are pretty much shaped like a regular old nose strip aside from the fact you aren’t getting that papier-mâché effect when you put them on. They are heavily saturated so they kinda feel like a facial sheet mask for your nose. You’re supposed to fit it around your nose, like a strip, and proceed to sit around for 10 to 15 minutes.
They have a pleasant, shampoo-like smell. I could have SWORN that my nose tingled a little as I sat around but I think I was imagining things in a major way!
What happened after 20 minutes?
Nothing.
They don’t work. Ha! But you knew that didn’t you?
Honestly, I didn’t see anything different and the strip didn’t have anything on it once I removed. Even blackheads that were closer to the surface and not as stubborn as the ones deeply embedded in my nose were still around.
After you remove the pad you’re supposed to swipe your nose with a cotton swab or a cotton pad and rinse….but…well..blackheads are still there.
I didn’t particularly like the “sponges” because they slipped and slid around my nose the entire 20 minutes so I kept having to move the strip back into place. Maybe that’s why I didn’t experience the “magical” powers of the strip!
- Anyone who loves a good gimmick!
- Anyone who has blackheads on their nose and needs a quick way to remove ’em (this isn’t it people).
- Anyone uninterested in shopping online, dealing with airmail, etc…(Holika Holika is a brand sold within Korea).
I’m sure you’ll run into one or two people that swear to the skincare Gods that this works but personally it was a big gimmick for me!
No likey.
Waste of $!
