MAC Quite Cute Review, Swatches, Photos

I got my grubby paws on some of the MAC Quite Cute Collection today. I checked out the Mineralize Blushes and one of the lipglasses and so far it’s turning out well. I also got the quad which I will feature in a separate review.

Let’s have a look!

The MAC Quite Cute Mineralize Blushes will probably entice those of you that really enjoy sweeter makeup. The blushes are made up of a dominate shade of color with a tiny dot of a contrasting shade in the shape of a heart in the center. The design is somewhat faulty as the heart isn’t quite dab in the middle nor is it straight in some cases and appears a tad crook. Why am I telling you this? Well, if you’re a perfectionist it’s a proper warning.

I love them, the design thrills me but I’m very much a child at heart particularly when it comes to sweeter, cuter makeup and these are just that.

After testing them out briefly I was pleased they weren’t frosty and the heart acted as a highlighter of sorts. The blushes are a dominate shade however the little heart does add a little bit of intensity and glow depending on how your brush chooses to hit that area. A swirl and a buff produces a good deal of kick up on these blushes more so than any other mineralize blush I own so they do have a loosely packed formula it seems.

After trying out Giggly which is for the most part a very light shade of bubblegum pink, I noticed that the plummy purple heart was able to deepen the shade every so slightly if I struck my brush across it at the right angle. This technique allowed the blush to go from cooler to a bit of a warmer pink. It’s an interesting effect but it is kinda hit or miss because there is no right way to do it and each time you apply you’ll see a different effect. For the most part the little heart adds a frosty glow to cheeks which is actually quite delightful even though I fear frosts for the most part.

In the case of Sakura you do need to be a special kind of person to pull it off but pull it off you can. The shade is lavender with a magenta heart in the center. The heart deepens the shade and makes it more wearable so you aren’t left with crazy pale ghost-like cheeks however Sakura proves not as easy to wear as Giggly.

I wish I had also gotten the lighter peachy beige shade Miss Behave so I could see what finish and effect that would produce.

Overall, the blushes prove interesting so far and well worth a haul. Have no fear of a frosty finish as to me they had a certain glow and took the guess work out of proper highlighting as that little heart seemed to add an extra little glow to my face.

I also tried out the MAC Plushglass in Girl Hearts Boy and I’m surprised to say it’s quite nice. Although a creamy finish it gives my lips a very nice nude, shade of creamy blue pink. I was so excited at the results that I felt like I needed to check out a few of the other shades when the collection launches in April. This shade will prove a great one for paler, fairer skin, actually, almost all of the shades in this collection will be a testimony to such a skin tone.

Do you need the blushes?

I’d like to think so and not because they are cute but because they actually look rather lovely on.

Anyone hauling the blushes?

Thoughts?

Sakura is gorg and so cute! I guess that’s why this collex is called ‘Quite Cute.’:P I’m probably the 10000 person that said that lol.

Gah, hope this heads UKwards about May – that’s the next time I’ll get to a MAC counter! Those blushers are soooo sweet, I definitely want.

  • Marle

Yes, I do need those blushes! I’m glad you got those two to swatch because I had my eye on them 😀 I’ve been strangely attracted to purple makeup lately, and I am determined to make purple blush work on me!

  • Misato-san

I want at least a blush, absolutely. But I still don’t know which one…

The blushes do look cute. I thought I could easily pass up this collection but I might need to check those out in person. That happens alot to me with MAC- I think I’ll pass when I first hear about some collections but when swatches come out I end up lusting after something!

I want Giggly! I am a sucker for that heart! But there is nothing else in this collection that would suit me…pastels look weird on my olive skin.

I so want a blush and that plushglass. I think the crooked heart is sweet and I prefer that to a perfectly placed heart 😛 hahahaa

These are adorable. Do you know if the heart goes all the way through the blush or is it just on the surface?

  • S

Giggly is probably the only one I’ll get, Sakura looks a bit too cool for my skintone. Are there any dupes for Giggly? I really don’t need anymore blush!!!

    • the Muse

mmm not sure of a dupe for giggly S sorry I’m kinda crumbs with dupes.

        • the Muse

S ;-D sorry I’m awful at ’em dear. but I honestly can’t think of anything in my own stash that dupes it. it’s kinda a yummy bubble gum pink.

Hmm, I was thinking of picking up both those blushes but after seeing swatches I may only get giggly…Sakura looks scary!!!!

  • Eve

Waahhh I need sakura! I’m Caucasian with yellow undertones with very fair skin and cooler shades like lavender look really good on me! It’s hard to find blushes like that! The gloss looks so pretty too! :3

  • Carol

mac seems to be on a roll when it comes to release cool toned blushes. They both kinda look similar when the colors are mixed together. which one would you say is closer to a purple color?

  • tee

Hmm…is it me or the plushglass Girl Hearts Boy looks similar to viva glam Gaga lipglass from last year?
