Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes Palettes Spring 2011 Caramelisee BR631 Sugar Cookie PK330 Review, Photos, Swatches

Majolica Majorca is one of very favorite Japanese brands. I recently purchased two of their new Jeweling Eyes Palettes in two limited edition shades they released with their Spring 2011 Collection.

I don’t need another MJ palette in all honesty (Click, see what I mean!) but since I haven’t yet tried the Jeweling Eye Palettes I decided that these colors would be a good place to start.

Let’s have a peek!

A quad of sparkling shadow quad available in two limited edition shades for Spring from Japanese brand, Majolica Majorca.

I dunno how Majolica Majorca does it but housing shadows in a mere plastic case somehow becomes a really cute experience. If anyone else attempted it or we came across it in a US drugstore we’d probably dub it cheap but Majolica does it and suddenly it becomes adorable and classy even. The Jeweling Eyes Palettes take on a new lace cut design where as some of my old palettes had a rounded edge and design these new palettes feature a lacy cut that gives the palettes a pretty feminine charm.

I really wanted the limited edition shade BR631, Caramelisee since it contained some very pretty sparkling shades of bronze, brown, and gold. I liked it the best and it proved the prettiest on my brown eyes. The shades are very easy to use, smooth on beautifully, blend out easily, and have great pigmentation for a drugstore brand. I’m always impressed with MJ and these are no exception. To use the palette you simply contrast with the two darkest shades, highlight with the lighter, and liner with the darker but you can honestly use them anyway you please and the liner shade can easily double up as a shadow shade if you choose. These sport a very typical creamy powdery formula that’s commonly associated with Japanese drugstore shadows. Some say it’s chalky I personally feel like they resemble a no fat version of Stila eyeshadows, kinda buttery, kinda creamy, and very smooth.

The other shade I picked up was PK330, Sugar Cookie. Sugar Cookie is easily duped by any number of the MJ palettes I already own but the pinks, all in one place, did so tempt me. I didn’t like it nearly as much as Caramelisee as the shades came across washed up on my eyes. Mmm not so pretty. But a very nice Spring palette overall particularly if you love pinks!

You’ll experience a bit of fall out with these palettes so be prepared for a bit of clean up as sparkle does end up all over the place!

The fact that they are sold exclusively in Japan and a few select Asian countries means you’ll have to shop it, swap it, or purchase it online as you can’t head to a local store to grab these!

  • Anyone who loves MJ (if you love the brand you’ll probably, at the very least, want Caramelisee since it’s LE).
  • Those who want a pretty selection of shadows for Spring (I think both LE palettes have very pretty shades for Spring).
  • Those wanting to try something new and exciting (bored with your normal range of products? Try something from Japan!).
  • Those who love sweet makeup items (both palettes are very kawaii!).

  • Those who do not want to deal with airmail fees, jacked up pricing, and online shops.
  • Those who aren’t keen on sparkle of shimmer in their shadow.
  • Those who have oily lids (MJ tends to crease on oily lids).

Overall, Sugar Cookie proved uneventful for me but at the very least I recommend a haul of Caramelisee particularly if you have brown eyes as the shades are really pretty. Both palettes are a nice addition to my Spring shadow wardrobe!

Likey!

By the way, what color do you recommend I should get for my Covergirl natureluxe foundation? I’ve never seen it in real life (not available here) so I’ll have to buy it based on the online pictures which are not very clear. I’m a MAC NC 25.

Pls also review on the new MM brown mascara!.. its LE

  • fishball

  • Kate

YAY! I just got the Pink Jeweling Eyes Palette. :3 Can’t wait to try it and review it! I am worried b/c you said MM tends to crease on oily lids… my lids are super oily…but maybe if I use a primer potion first they will be okay…and blotting tissues. I love Japanese packaging. That’s honestly why I bought it and b/c a lot of gyaru bloggers tend to praise MM products. 😉 I also got a product by KATE and I am excited to try it too. :3

    xoxo
    Love your blog btw! <3

    • the Muse

hey kate ;-D awesome, enjoy it. I hope it works well for you! I really enjoy these palettes ;-D I’m a big MJ fan so def love hauling the new shades. KATE is a fab brand as well, MJ used to be a fav of mine but KATE def gets has my primary interest lately due to more nude, natural shades ;-D!

Aw thanks so glad you’re enjoying musings!

      • Kate

Oh my gosh! I tried this palette last night (the pink one) and at first I was kinda “meh” about it. I used UDPP in Greed underneath and I applied the shadows in the western way by using darkest shade in my crease. I noticed some colors were sorta chalky almost and didn’t seem to look like anything at all when applied on my eyelid (mebbe I should try it with a MAC paint pot or LimeCrime’s candy eyed eye primer since it seems to grab pigment fairly well) so I was kinda sad…. but then, later on last night, I was looking at myself in the mirror at a friend’s apartment and the lighting in the room was just perfect because when I looked at my eyeshadow it was GORGEOUS. Perfect balance of sparkle and shimmer, and the colors blended together seamlessly to create a sort of light silvery shimmer getting progressively pinker until it reached the darkest pink shade in my crease.

Love love love. 😀 I need to write a review in my blog now, haha. <3

        • the Muse

AW kate that’s brilliant I’m happy to hear it worked so well for you ;-D!

  • Jenny

OMG I am in love with both of the palettes! I’ve been wanting to try MM for a while now, but I really don’t know where I can get these!

  • Nene

Awwie, I was too late in purchasing BR631, & now they only have Sugar Cookie, which won’t look too flattering on my skintone. I hope MJ will come out with this palette again, or maybe in similar colors =(

  • Musebeliever

I FINALLY bough some japanese palettes. FINALLY ! I’m in love with my majolica. *o*

  • Tricia

I just bought one palette. The one with blue shades, BL381. I didn’t know it was LE. Its a bit glittery for my taste, but two of the four colors I love dearly. =)

  • Des

Oh…I just bought a palette because they’re on promotion o…oh! 🙁 although, I don’t really need one yet. I’m feeling a bit guilty for the splurging, but thank goodness, you got good words for it… 😉
