Philosophy Summer Grace

I could prove to be one of the few ladies (and gents) who isn’t too big a Philosophy Grace fan. At one time in my life I owned all the Graces and tried to love them but…I dunno…it never worked out. I never put so much effort into a fragrance in my life as much as I did Grace and I tried extra hard to love it.

But ado…the love never happened because after all you can’t force love right?

However, I will say I’m pretty excited about Philosophy Summer Grace. Perhaps it’ll be the Grace I finally fall in love with!

Summer Grace promises to be a careful spirit with warm, bright floral notes to give you a lighthearted happiness and the carefree ease of a Summer day!

Philosophy dubs it a sunny, casual, flirty little scent with plenty of happy, refreshing notes and an overall warm, bright floral.

Philosophy Summer Grace Perfume $40

Philosophy Summer Grace Perfumed Firming Body Emulsion $24

Philosophy Summer Grace Perfumed Shampoo, Bath & Shower Gel $22

Philosophy Summer Grace Fragrance Layering Set $50

What do you think it’ll smell like?

Completely different from the normal Grace range or simply a low calorie version of it?

I look forward to trying it!

I’m not a huge fan of it either, Muse. I got a sample a few years ago and LOVED it. When I went to the store to purchase a full size bottle, I thought it smelled different on me than the sample did….Maybe I’m crazy? Long story short, it smells bad on me. This one sounds interesting though – I’ll give anything a chance! 🙂

brooke it tends to go wet dog on me 🙁 I had grace, baby grace, etc…but NONE of the worked :-/ I really WANT to love it but it never works out on me ;-D I’ll def give this a shot, curious minds dude!

  • Hannah

I’m like you! I really WANT to like the Graces, but I think they are just a little too old for me. However, I do love the Pure Grace salt scrub and conditioner! I think I can take the Graces in small doses, but I definitely couldn’t wear the lotion or fragrances. I’m obsessed with Unconditional Love though! I just think they smell a lot younger and more appropriate for 20-something’s. Do you like the Loves??

    • the Muse

I really like Uncodnitional Love as well Hannah, way nicer and I agree the Graces are so mature, even Baby Grace has a certain maturity ;-D I do like the green grace (the name of which is escaping me at the moment) but even that I’m not completely on board with. I guess I can take grace in smaller increments too but as a all day fragrance..nooo! but I hope Summer Grace redeems that ;D!

For some weird reason, Amazing Grace smells great on me… and I get a lot of compliments on how good I smell when I use it… I guess we all have a unique scent when mixed with perfume or body spray can actually make us smell better (or worse :P). I will check this out. 🙂

The bottle is SO pretty!!! I love it, it screams spring! I’ve tried so hard to become a Grace girl but I must have like some kind of potent b.o. bc once it’s on my skin, it doesn’t smell all fresh and cuddly like it is in the bottle. It smells like…plastic?! Oiy! I’ll keep trying tho, hopefully this one works out! Thanks Muse!

    • the Muse

hey kate, same here, it doesn’t always smell pleasant to me in the bottle but on my skin it’s worst :-/ I hope this one works for me too ;-D!!!!!!!

  • Susan

The only grace that has worked on me is Pure Grace. I use the shower gel, lotion and spritz. I will typically give myself a spritz or two with it and then 1 spray of Unconditional Love. I love that combo.

  • Carrie

I received a free bottle of this a couple weeks ago for being a top reviewer on philosophy.com. I love it! It definitely has a light floral, but also a clean scent, a little warmth, and a wee bit of fruity. It distantly reminds me of Benefit’s Maybe Baby, but it’s not as sweet.

I have worn amazing grace on and off for about 15 years. Crazy huh? I carry a scent super strong so I usually just do shower gel lotion and refresh with body spray. This new one appeals. I will wait until it shows up in the stores so I can sniff it. I the only other philosophy fragrances I like are unconditional love and pure grace so hopefully this is different enough but smells good on me?!

Muse I think the green Grace is Eternal Grace. I haven’t had a proper sniff of it yet, only the little itty bitty card they sent out. But I would like to try it in person to see.

I did love Amazing Grace, but somewhere along the way, it kinda morphed into a stale beer smell on me. Not the scent I want to have when running around the kids school.

I have never tried baby grace, but heard it smells kinda like baby bum cream.

Pure Grace, this one was hardest for me to wear. Not a real winner when first used, but I loved the body lotion. It is thick and wonderful and never greasy, and leaves my skin baby soft, then one day, I just really loved it. And a very huge plus, I can wear it with any other scent I want! I do reach for it during the very hot muggy Texas summers, it is perfect and never becomes ‘too much’ on a hot day.

Like Susan, I like to combo my Pure Grace, but I do it with Falling in Love. It kinda takes the sweet out of it giving it a nice mellow vibe.

I also like Unconditional Love, but have only bought the small bottle of it, and still working on it.

    • the Muse

YES that’s the one Jo ;-D mmm I get that too believe it or not LOL! ;-D the stale beer eau de toilette ;-D lol!

  • JoElla

DOH! I forgot about Summer Grace… I would love to do a sniff test in person to see what it is all about.

I bought the original Grace trio and each gave me an intense headache. I think it is the musk which is a bottom note in each Grace. Much to my dismay, my Mom bathes in Amazing Grace and I avoid standing down wind of her at all costs! Falling In Love received a so-so review from me. The only Philosophy fragrance I really like is Field of Flowers. That being said, I’m very curious about the new Summer Grace! I hope there’s a whiff of beach or warm summer breeze in there somewhere, LOL!

    • the Muse

hey jen! I agree def headache inducing! LOL about your mum! ;-D falling in love was another scent that I tried forcing myself into liking but never could get on board. Me too, that would be lovely or at least fresher and less heady than grace!

  • Ruthless

I don’t like them much either. It’s irritating when a company just keeps releasing different versions of the same fragrance instead of coming up with something new-enough with the grace already. Although I will admit the the Thiery Muegler “Summer Angel” is a gorgeous variation of Angel.

  • Allison

I have to say, I’m shocked! I thought it impossible to not love at least ONE grace fragrance. It’s like saying, “I hate being clean.” I mean no offense, everyone is unique. I happen to love almost all the graces (not inner grace, it’s too matronly for me) and falling in love. I already ordered my Summer Grace kit on QVC. So excited! Summer smells are my favorites and I’m sure Philosophy won’t let me down. I’m always looking for more summer fragrances, so I would so appreciate any suggestions. 🙂

    • the Muse

Allison that’s great you love Grace so much, glad to hear it. I personally don’t like it.

  • Karen

I have had such high hopes for all the Graces. The only one I do like is Unconditional Love and that is when I pair it with Zents Petal. Eternal Grace sounded promising but just smelled too green with rancid dry down. I’m so tempted to try Summer Grace but I think I may pass on it. The lotions are absolutely wonderful too. Too bad they can’t get a scent that agrees with my chemistry.
