Review: Gloomy Days Be Gone with Origins Gloomaway Body Mist

I fell in love with Origins Gloomaway a few years ago when I tried the Body Butter they had released. Delicious! I just recently indulged in the Origins Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Mist.

Why I waited so long is beyond me, oh wait, I know why. 4 oz size at $25 OUCH!

Is it worth it?

If you never sniffed Gloomaway before I highly recommend heading to your local Origins and having a little sniffle. You’ll fall in lust and love fast!

The name is perfectly fitting because as soon as you smell this it wakes you up, refreshes you, and invigorates your senses, chasing those Monday blues or the gloom away.

It’s a blend of sweeter citrus notes with a dominate, tart layer of grapefruit. The grapefruit is super tart so much so that you may find yourself puckering your lips up at first spritz but it dries down sweeter and just smells so fresh and lively. I like to think of it as sunshine in a bottle.

If you love citrus scents, you MUST try this.

The bad news?

At $25 for 4 oz it’s way expensive and the formula is way weak. Three to four spritzes pretty much fades within minutes of wearing it. The scent truly has a short wear, linger, and throw. I imagine if I poured the bottle over my head my skin would absorb it in seconds and leave behind zero scent.

Yes, layering is key here however at $25 for a very small bottle you’d think that the mist would have some staying power but I guess it depends on your body chemistry. Mine personally swallows this one hole.

Sad sigh.

Damn shame as I adore this scent. It’s such a mood lifting blend!

Anyone love Gloomaway?

How’s it work for you?

I think I need the Grapefruit bar now and maybe Origins might consider making a Gloomaway Shampoo and Conditioner, I’d buy stock in that!

I still have a bottle of the Gloomaway fragrance from back when I worked for Origins, and it is one of my all-time faves. I recently spritzed with the mist when I was visiting my store, and was shocked by how quickly it dissipated. I also prefer the scent of the actual fragrance to the mist– it’s not *quite* the same to my nose. I do still love every other product in the Gloomaway collection, though– the mist just isn’t my thing.
