Sonia Kashuk Eye Shadow Quad Fair and Square Review, Swatches, Photos

Fair and Square is one of four new shades available in the Sonia Kashuk Eyeshadow Quads that should be popping up at your local Target for Spring 2011.

I posted about these several weeks ago and finally got a few to try. They are proving a chore to locate at Target, every display I’ve come across has been whistling a little tune of sold out but no worries they are available online and if you’re lucky at your local store.

I fell in love with Fair and Square this week and feel like it’s a you NEED this kinda quad for Spring (and Summer).

Let’s take a look!

A quad featuring delicate shades of peach for Spring!

I think one of the main appeals of Fair and Square is the shades aren’t easily duped from anything I already own. I have a large collection of MAC, Urban Decay, and many other eyeshadows and palettes but all the shades in Fair and Square seemed terribly unique and oh so pretty.

The quad is pretty versatile so you can use one shade, two, or all four to create a soft focused Spring eye look. I think Sonia Kashuk fans will find this quad is truly special and different from her other shadows as she does have a fair few matte shades available in her current quads or ones that contain shimmer. This particularly quad features a a few various formulas ranging from semi-matte, to velvet, and even sparkle.

Now, I really love the sparkle shades that the brand puts out in their limited edition palettes and some of their quads but I have to contend with quite a bit of fall out with these plus the shades tend to be very sheer so I was happy to see only a single shade of this formula included in the quad.

Now the shades, there’s something so brilliant about these colors. The quad is made up of a delicate, soft shade of peach in a matte formula with a hint of sparkle. This shade is positively lovely and reminds me of a softer, peachy coral, it lights up my brown eyes beautifully.

You’ll also get a sparkling shade of peach which is quite subtle and leans towards more sparkle sans color. It’s best suited for using as an overcoat on top of the other shades. Also included is a lighter shade of bronze-y brown and a taupe brown. This morning I paired up the softer matte peach on my lids with some of the lighter brown on top. I also included an overcoat of the sparkly shade in my images for some added pop!

The colors all blend smoothly and flawlessly with a good deal of pigment aside from the sparkle one of course. You can pair up all four shades easily or use them individually to create a number of Spring and Summer-y looks!

The sparkle shade is a softly packed pigment of sorts and has a flaky formula which does cause out some major fall out but when used as a base it performs quite well sans the fall out woe.

  • Anyone looking for shades that are a little bit different (these colors just seem so unique to me and different).
  • Those with fair skin (these shades will light up on porcelain skin).
  • Those with olive or darker skin (these shades will give a super soft focused look on darker skin).
  • Those looking for a budget quad for Spring!

  • Nothing not to like here!

Overall, the Sonia Kashuk Eye Shadow Quad in Fair and Square felt like one of the more unique experiences I’ve had with eyeshadows in a long time. The colors are oh so brilliant and quite pretty! I’m looking forward to trying the other four in this collection and I’m pretty happy with the direction of this revamp as the quads are made up of a number of formulas that all work well together so you aren’t left with four sparkle shadows or four mattes, you have variety to work with here. Add to the fact that any number of skin tones can work this look and you have perfection!

Count me impressed!
