Tarte 8th World Wonder Best of The Amazon Clay Collection 40

I hope everyone is taking advantage of the Tarte 8th World Wonder Best of The Amazon Clay Collection today! It made it official worldwide launch today on QVC and is only available at the exclusive under $50 price tag for a few short hours before it goes back up in price. The auto ship feature also ends with the Today’s Special Value so best snag it now if you’re wanting it.

I tried it out this morning and loves it!

Check it out!

Note: Apologies I’ll update later today with swatches of the foundation and before and after shots of the mascara.

By now you really don’t need me to go back into what you’ll get in this set as it went viral when I originally posted about it but here’s a recap if you’ve been living under a rock hehe!

  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Balancing Foundation SPF 15 (Your Choice of Fair, Light, Medium, Tan or Deep)
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Wear Powder Blush in Glisten
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Long Wear Eye Shadow Quad (Includes Shimmering Cocoa, Shimmering Bronze, Shimmering Sand, and Shimmering Plum)
  • Tarte EmphasEyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliner in Golden Plum
  • Tarte Pureoptic Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Golden Pink
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Volumizing Mascara in Black

  • Purple Braided Makeup Bag

Not counting the large makeup bag you get with this set you’re looking at $6.80 per full size item in the set. That’s an absurdly good deal! You’re looking at eyeshadow, liner, gloss, mascara, foundation…everything you need for a full face look. The price is amazing!

I’m really enjoying the Tarte Amazonian Clay Balancing Foundation but as many of you suspected it does run very light. I got mine in medium and it was about a shade or so lighter than my tone so indeed these run pretty fair. The foundation itself is pretty brilliant. It reminds me of one of my favorite Tarte products which is the the Peaches and Cream Foundation. The formula feels like a whipped up mousse that’s extra creamy and blends oh so easily. They include a bronzer style full bushy brush to apply the foundation with which gives the finish an airbrushed effect, by the way, that brush, it’s probably worth the $50 alone. I love the flawless finish here but I also love the wear as it didn’t oxidize too quickly on me and I’m heading into hour five without a touch up.

This also includes a launch of Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Wear Powder Blush in Glisten which isn’t a shade currently available at Sephora. The shade is a cooler peach with a little glimmer to it. It reminds me of NARS Orgasm but feels a bit cooler and has a sweeter glow. The color is vibrant and has a glow-y finish that will give a healthy look to your cheeks. Wear time probably will get you through an entire day as I’ve already tried out a shade of the blush prior to this and got through an entire day with it on.

The Tarte Amazonian Clay Long Wear Eye Shadow Quad is probably my favorite piece in the collection. I only briefly skimmed the show this morning with Maureen as I was on my way out the door but it looks like the model’s on QVC were sporting a fairly different look than the one I did. They seemed to concentrate alot on the plum shade where as I went more with the warmer shades in the quad. Shades included all have a shimmer finish and include cocoa, bronze, sand, and plum. I used cocoa in my crease, bronze on my lid, sand as a highbrow highlighter, and a dash of the plum on the outer V. I wore the Tarte EmphasEyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eyeliner in Golden Plum on my waterline and surprisingly it goes very well. For some reason the plum of the liner and quad felt out of place with the rest of the shades but they actually add a little something to the completed look.

Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara is a solid performing mascara with a straight line plastic applicator that pulls lashes upwards and out. It doesn’t hold curl too well but it’s lightweight enough to build up for a more dramatic, fuller fringe of lashes.

Tarte Pureoptic Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Golden Pink is a sheer pale pink with a good deal of lovely shimmer. This has a minty fresh taste and a thicker formula that glides on easily and leaves behind a glossy finish. The formula has a shorter wear time, about three hours, but it wears comfortably light for such a thicker gloss and lacks a sticky, tacky feel. I’m hopeful Tarte will launch more of these as I really enjoyed the formula.

Overall, the Tarte 8th World Wonder Best of The Amazon Clay Collection is probably one of the best sets I’ve seen to date from QVC this year in terms of quality and price. If you’re looking for makeup options to spruce your Spring wardrobe that will work well into Summer, this is the set for you.

Also highly recommend it to the budget shoppers out there as this is an ideal way to try out Tarte for the first time or to add to your Tarte Collection for a very small price tag, $6.80 per full time product is over a 75% savings on each item!

oh one more question, does the foundation dry matte or a dewy finish? I wonder if it will settle into fine lines..not all of us are young things with perfect skin. ;)

    Reply

    • 3/14/11 18:08 the Muse:

semi mattie valentina but doesn’t look badly on dry skin for the finish. ha I’m far from young girl but thanks! shouldn’t be a prob for finer lines as it has that creaminess that blends right in while leaving pigment behind but not product if that makes sense. It doesn’t lay on your skin but absorbs easily while still perfecting! tell me how you make out when it arrives?

    Reply

    • 3/14/11 18:05 the Muse:

hi maggie. I don’t use mac so not sure of my color nor do I use any foundations for that matter found in the US. I do use shades 1 or 2 of BB creams dunno if that is helpful but that’s my base of choice. The only other shade I can give you is Shiseido i20.

      hope this helps?

Not sure on the combo/oily hun. It should be ok. It’s quite lightweight and blends easily without feeling heavy so oily/combo should be fine with it.

Hurry up QVC and ship mine already!

I guess it would be a good idea to go in and get fitted :-D! I normally use BB Creams and that’s pretty much 1 or 2 ;-D sometimes 3! You can always return hun if it fails to work and grab the darker dear!

Sure! *hugs* away! :) Yeah, I was tired of being left out when people were comparing skin tones so I finally went in and got matched…and of course bought Gaga1 lipgloss and WW Pink Power while I was in there! Didn’t want it to be a wasted trip lol! But MAC does things strangely as they call golden or yellow undertones “cool” which I find weird. MAC just HAS to be different don’t they…sheesh. :D
And what?! You DON’T know the ENTIRE MAC spectrum???!!! I’m so disappointed in you Miss Muse, I thought you knew EVERYTHING. *bubble bursts, curtains fall, fairy loses it’s wings, world ends*

    Hey Muse,
I’m wondering… are you planning on getting the foundation color in Tan for your next auto-shipment?
I can’t believe the Medium is light on you. I’m positive you’re lighter than me. I’m Korean but not too light, and I ordered the Medium, because Tan looked WAYYY too dark in the swatches you posted (btw thanks so~ much for the swatches). But now I’m really confused!!!! I use Missha perfect cover bb cream in shade 23. If you’ve used Missha before, please let me know what shade you use and maybe I can figure from there~!

    • 3/15/11 9:46 the Muse:

Hi Eva, naa worried it’ll make my skin look dull so gonna stick with the medium :) it’s not too, too bad once I add blush :) my pleasure on the swatches, tarte was really nice to send them over. mmm shade 23 on missha, that has alot more beige in it than Tarte’s medium, you’ll find tarte runs a bit cooler. I’ll swatch tonight, I apologize for not including a swatch. I THINK I have Missha 23 hanging around some place if not I at least have 21 around which is the shade I use, do you have 21 handy?

      • 3/15/11 19:52 Eva:

yess like you, i don’t want to be darker or duller than i need to be!! I don’t have missha 21.. I normally get the darker of 2 shades offered for bb cream (well now missha has more than 2 shades). I have been able to pull off skinfood aloe sun bb in shade 1 which i think is the lighter of the two, but i do prefer my skin to look lighter~ just not unnaturally so! if you can do a swatch, that’d be fun (for me, maybe not for you)!!
well i think i’ll be okay either way~~ since i bought this on AD (after seeing your multiple posts!!) I’ll simply order tan for the next shipment if medium is way too light. i can mix =) I can’ t wait for it to come!! Thank you so much for posting about this kit~~ i’ve only recently started looking at QVC due to your posts~

        Hey Muse,
Just wanted to let you know since you were so kind to reply — the Medium is perfect! Which is odd still because you are definitely lighter than me!! Like you I prefer lighter over darker~~ I had actually stopped using Missha 23 (even though I’m pretty sure that’s a shade match for me) because I feel like it dulls out my face. I’ve been using Skinfood Aloe BB in shade 1 for my face and I actually love the Missha BB 23 as a blemish concealer!

I love this kit! The foundation is great, but not quite as long lasting as mineral makeup is for me. Brush is worth at least $50! The blush is one of my favorite of all time and applies like a dream. But the oil is the star I think. It has made such a difference in the texture and feel of my skin in only a few days. Tarte to the rescue! Love your musing, Muse!

I’ve been trying to look everywhere on your website for the Tarte’s Lights Camera Lashes mascara review or part of a review that you’ve written in a bigger review of a set of Tarte items (such as this), but I can never find a detailed review of the mascara. Are you not particularly fond of the mascara or something?
